In this study, we investigate the influence of adding the Y element on the glass-forming ability and magnetic properties of Fe_(86-x)Y_xB_7C_7(x = 0, 5, 10 at.%) amorphous alloys via both experiments and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. Furthermore, we explore the correlation between local atomic structures and properties. Our results demonstrate that an increased Y content in the alloys leads to a higher proportion of icosahedral clusters, which can potentially enhance both glass-forming ability and thermal stability. These findings have been experimentally validated. The analysis of the electron energy density and magnetic moment of the alloy reveals that the addition of Y leads to hybridization between Y-4d and Fe-3d orbitals, resulting in a reduction in ferromagnetic coupling between Fe atoms. This subsequently reduces the magnetic moment of Fe atoms as well as the total magnetic moment of the system, which is consistent with experimental results. The results could help understand the relationship between atomic structure and magnetic property, and providing valuable insights for enhancing the performance of metallic glasses in industrial applications.展开更多

The results show that the static potential and polarizability of electroless Co-Ni-B alloy are remarkably improved as the plating is carried out in magnetic field in the presence of a little amount of cerium in plating bath. Because of the action of magnetic field and rare earth element cerium, the boron content in alloy decreases, while cobalt and nickel contents increase. For instance, both Tmag c and β of the Ni3Pt (L12) and NiPt (L10) and Tmag c of the CoPt (L10) and CoPt3 (L12) ordered compounds are strongly depressed due to the ordering compared with those of the metastable disordered Ni-Pt and Co-Pt alloys. On the other hand, the γ’-FeNi3 (L12) and the α’-FeCo (B2) ordered compounds have higher Tmag c and β values comparing with the disordered solution phases, γ (A1) and α (A2), respectively. In consequence, the stability of the ordered phase is depressed or enhanced due to the interaction between the chemical and magnetic ordering caused by the decrease or increase of Tmag c and β values. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the interaction between the chemical and the magnetic ordering on the phase equilibria in the Fe-X(X=Al, Co, Ni, Rh, Si) binary systems. The Gibbs energy of the α(A2), γ(A1) and liquid phases is described by a sub-regular solution approximation. Amorphous Fe52Co34Hf7B6Cul alloys are first treated by a pulsed magnetic field with a medium frequency, and then annealed at 100 ℃-400 ℃ for 30 min in a vacuum. The rise in temperature during the treatment by a pulsed magnetic field is measured by a non-contact infrared thermometer. The soft magnetic properties of specimens are measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The microstructure changes of specimens are observed by a MSssbauer spectroscopy and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The results show the medium-frequency pulsating magnetic field will pro- mote nanocrystallization of the amorphous alloy with a lower temperature rise. The nanocrystalline phase is (α-Fe(Co) with bcc crystal structure, and the grain size is about 10 nm. After vacuum annealing at 100 ℃ for 30 min, scattering nanocrystalline phases become more uniform, the coercive force and the saturation magnetization of the specimens are 41.98 A/m and 185.15 emu/g.展开更多

The effects of partial Nb substitution for Fe on the structural and magnetic properties of Sm2Fe17-xNbx alloys and their nitlides were investigated. It was seen that Sm2(Fe,Nb)17 phase exists in both annealed and HDDR-treated Sm2Fe17-xNbx alloys. However, its content is decreased with the increase in Nb substitution. In annealed alloys, Sm2(Fe,Nb)17 phase becomes unstable and will dissociate into SmFe2 and Fe-rich phases when x 〉 1.5. With HDDR-treatment, the Nb concentration in recombined Sm2(Fe,Nb)17 phase is decreased, and the content of Fe-rich phases is increased. Sm2Fe17-xNbx powder exhibits dendritic cracks and fine particles with a size of less than 300 nm. In nitrogenated alloys, N atoms mainly enter 2:17-type phase to form Sm2(Fe,Nb)17Ny. Partial Nb atoms in Sm2(Fe,Nb)17Ny phase will be released or excluded by nitrogen atoms. Fe-rich phases increase, and are followed by the amorphous Sm2(Fe,Nb)17Ny phase. Nb substitution for Fe with x = 0.5 and 1.0 in Sm2Fe17-xNbxNy powders increases the coercivity and remanence. But when x is greater than 2.0, Nb substitution will deteriorate the magnetic properties.展开更多

The corrosion property of AZ61 alloy was investigated in a solution of 3.5 mol/L NaCI by measuring electrochemical p.olarization. The results show that the high magnetic field can refine microstructure and benefit aluminum transfer. The crystal of α-Mg is induced to orient with their c-axis parallel to the magnetic field. The corrosion studies indicate that different crystal plane of magnesium has different corrosion property. The passivating films on the α- and b-planes have higher corrosion resistance than that on the c-plane. Aligned structure affects the corrosion property of AZ61 magnesium alloy.展开更多

It was shown that the primary phase MnBi crystals in the alloy aligned and oriented alongthe direction of the applied magnetic field. The orientating tendency and the average length of the elongated MnBicrystals increased with the increase of the applied field and the solidification time. Moreover, the remanence of thealloy along the aligned direction of the MnBi phase in the case of solidification with a magnetic field was apparentlyanisotropic and nearly double of that without the magnetic field. This indicated that the MnBi crystals orientedand aligned along their easy magnetization axis. A model was proposed to explain the alignment and orientationgrowth of the MnBi crystals in a magnetic field in terms of the magnetic anisotropy of the crystals and the magneticinteraction between them.展开更多

For Ce atomic percent of 1% and 2%, coercivity decreases dramatically. With further increase of Ce atomic percent, the coercivity increases, peaks at 6.38 kOe in(PrNd)_(11)Ce_4Fe_(77)B_8, and then declines gradually. The abnormal dependence of coercivity is likely related to the inhomogeneity of rare earth chemical composition in the intergranular phase, where Pr Nd concentration is strongly dependent on the additive amount of(PrNd)_5Ce_(10)Fe_(77)B_8 powders. In addition, for Ce atomic percent of 8%,7%, and 6% the coercivity is higher than that of magnets prepared by the conventional method, which shows the advantage of the dual alloy method in preparing high abundant rare earth magnets.展开更多

It is widely recognized that the martensite reorientation in a magnetic shape memory alloy (MSMA) can develop if the magnetic field is large enough. However, it has been shown in the literature that the magnetization rotation may block variant reorientation via energy minimization approach. In this paper, based on a micromechanicat model associated with the thermodynamic theory, authors show that there are some limits for the martensite reorientation, which is hindered by the magnetization rotation. Some useful conclusions are obtained.展开更多

Its effects on the solidification structure of eutectic Al-Si alloy have been investigated experimentally. It is found that the eutectic structure has been refined by solely imposing high magnetic field while it is coarsened under the electromagnetic vibration. Furthermore, polyhedral Si grains and non-dendritic α-Al appeared when the electromagnetic vibration strength was strong enough. The refining of eutectic structure is attributed to the decrease of diffusion coefficient caused by the strong magnetic field. The coarseness of eutectic structure may be attributed to the convection caused by electromagnetic vibration. Strong convection may break co-operative growth of eutectic phases to form polyhedral Si grains and non-dendritic α-Al.展开更多

文摘The crystallization, microstructure, and soft magnetic properties of Fe52Co34Hf7B6Cul alloy are studied. After vacuum annealing at 100 ℃ for 30 min, scattering nanocrystalline phases become more uniform, the coercive force and the saturation magnetization of the specimens are 41.98 A/m and 185.15 emu/g.

文摘Sm2Fe17-xNbx (x = 0-4) powder was synthesized by HDDR treatment and nitrogenation. But when x is greater than 2.0, Nb substitution will deteriorate the magnetic properties.

文摘The solidification behaviors of AZ61 magnesium alloy under a high magnetic field were studied. Aligned structure affects the corrosion property of AZ61 magnesium alloy.

文摘Amorphous Ni-Fe-Co-Mn-Bi-Tm high entropy alloy films were firstly prepared by potentiostatic electro- deposition. The results indicate that the six elements can be co-deposited in an organic system of DMF (N,N-dimethylformamide)-CH3CN. The surface of the film is composed of compact and uniform particles with triangular cone shape and a particle size of 100-200 nm. A simple face-centered-cubic structure is identified by XRD patterns after the films were annealed under Ar atmosphere. The annealed alloy film shows soft magnetic properties and the magnetization decreases with Fe content decreasing.

文摘The solidification structure of Bi-3 wt pct Mn alloy grown up in the semisolid zone under the influence of a staticmagnetic field (up to 1.0 T) and the relation of the magnetic property with the solidification structure have beeninvestigated experimentally. A model was proposed to explain the alignment and orientationgrowth of the MnBi crystals in a magnetic field in terms of the magnetic anisotropy of the crystals and the magneticinteraction between them.

文摘Resource-saving(PrNdCe)_2Fe_(14)B sintered magnets with nominal composition(PrNd)_(15-x)Ce_xFe_(77)B_8(x=0–10)were prepared using a dual alloy method by mixing(PrNd)_5Ce_(10)Fe_(77)B_8 with(PrNd)_(15)Fe_(77)B_8 powders. In addition, for Ce atomic percent of 8%,7%, and 6% the coercivity is higher than that of magnets prepared by the conventional method, which shows the advantage of the dual alloy method in preparing high abundant rare earth magnets.

文摘A large field-induced strain of magnetic shape memory alloy is developed by the martensite variant reorientation. Some useful conclusions are obtained.

文摘An electromagnetic vibration was generated by simultaneously imposing a strong static magnetic field (up to 10 T) and an alternative electricity current to the metal. Strong convection may break co-operative growth of eutectic phases to form polyhedral Si grains and non-dendritic α-Al.
