In this paper, we explore a different mechanism for the similar phenomenon of the enhanced light deflection. This mechanism is based on the coherent population oscillation, which leads to the hole burning in the absorption spectrum. The medium causing the deflection of probe light is an ensemble of two-level atoms manipulated by a strong controlled field on the two photon resonances. In the large detuning condition, the response of the medium to the pump field and signal field is obtained with steady state approximation. And it is found that after the probe field travels across the medium, the signal ray bends due to the spatial-dependent profile of the control beam.展开更多

It has been found that the coherent superposition of the ground states can be formed due to the absorption even for initial maximal mixed ground states. The absorption oscillates with a period depending on the two-photon detuning when the system is initially in a transparent state and the two-photon Raman detuning is suddenly changed. The amplitude of the absorption decays with the decay rate of the ground states, which is different from the case when the lasers are applied resonantly. These transient coherent oscillations can be used to measure the relaxation rate of the ground states.展开更多

The simulation is conducted to enhance the main parameters of slow light device and a method is presented for setting the output specifications of this kind of devices. In this paper, we deal with changing the size of quantum dot to find the ideal size. The simulation results indicate that as the size of quantum dot changes properly (with reducing more than 50 percent of quantum dots both radius and height), then the slope of diagram of the real part of refractive index increases significantly so that the Slow Down Factor (SDF) predicted to be18 times greater. The broadband spectrum generation owes to the enhanced stimulated Raman scattering progress. The simulation results indicate that this algorithm can enlarge frequency and phase offset estimation ranges and enhance accuracy of the system greatly, and the bit error rate(BER) performance of the system is improved effectively compared with that of the system employing traditional NB-LDPC code-aided carrier synchronization algorithm.展开更多
