TA1 P-Ti/AA6061 composite plate was produced by oxidizing the surface of the titanium plate and adopting a cold roll bonding process. The results revealed that the oxide film(Ti6O)prepared on the surface of TA1 pure titanium was easy to crack during the cold roll bonding, thereby promoting the formation of an effective mechanical interlock at the interface, which can effectively reduce the minimum reduction rate of the composite plates produced by cold rolling of titanium and aluminium plates. Moreover, the composite plate subjected to oxidation treatment exhibited high shear strength, particularly at a 43%reduction rate, achieving a commendable value of 117 MPa.Based on oxidation treatment and different reduction rates, the annealed composite plates at temperatures of 400,450,and 500°C displayed favorable resistance to interface delamination, highlighting their remarkable strength-plasticity compatibility as evidenced by a maximum elongation of 31.845%. 展开更多

The hardening on surface of complex profles such as thread and spline manufactured by cold rolling can efectively improve the mechanical properties and surface quality of rolled parts. The distribution of hardness in superfcial layer is closely related to the deformation by rolling. To establish the suitable correlation model for describing the relationship between strain and hardness during cold rolling forming process of complex profles is helpful to the optimization of rolling parameters and improvement of rolling process. In this study, a physical analog experiment refecting the uneven deformation during complex-profle rolling process has been extracted and designed, and then the large date set (more than 400 data points) of training samples refecting the local deformation characteristics of complexprofle rolling have been obtained. Several types of polynomials and power functions were adopted in regression analysis, and the regression correlation models of 45# steel were evaluated by the single-pass and multi-pass physical analog experiments and the complex-profle rolling experiment. The results indicated that the predicting accuracy of polynomial regression model is better in the strain range (i.e., ε < 1.2) of training samples, and the correlation relationship between strain and hardness out strain range (i.e., ε > 1.2) of training samples can be well described by power regression model;so the correlation relationship between strain and hardness during complex-profle rolling process of 45# steel can be characterized by a segmented function such as third-order polynomial in the range ε < 1.2 and power function with a ftting constant in the range ε > 1.2;and the predicting error of the regression model by segmented function is less than 10%. 展开更多

The microstructures and mechanical properties of homogenized-rolled AA5052 aluminum alloys with different rolling reductions and following annealing treatments were investigated by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer, micro-hardness and tensile tests. The results show that with increasing rolling reduction, the equiaxed grains are elongated along the rolling direction obviously, and accumulation of rolling reduction increases the work hardening effect, which results in the enhanced strength and degraded plasticity. When rolling reduction is 87%, the ultimate tensile strength reaches 325 MPa but elongation is only 2.5%. There are much more secondary phase precipitates after annealing treatment. With an increase of annealing temperature, the amount of precipitates increases and work hardening diminishes continuously. The elongation is improved to ~23% but the tensile strength is decreased to 212 MPa after annealing at 300 °C for 4 h, which are comparable to those of as-homogenized alloy. 展开更多

Multilayered Ti-Al based intermetallic sheets were fabricated by sintering alternately layered titanium and aluminum foils. The microstructure and phase formation of the obtained sheets under different sintering conditions were evaluated by various techniques. The results reveal that when the sintering temperature is above the melting point of aluminum, the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis reaction occurs between Ti and Al,and forms various phases of Ti-based solid solutions including α-Ti Ti3Al,TiAl,TiAl2 and α-Ti including TiAl3,etc.When the sintering time increased,Ti-based solid solution,TiAl2 and TiAl3 disappeared gradually, and the sheet containing Ti3Al and TiAl phases in a multilayered structure formed finally.A lot of voids were also observed in the sintered structures, which were caused by the melting Al,Kirkendall effect and the difference of molar volumes between reactants and products. The voids were eliminated and a dense sample was obtained by the following hot press. 展开更多

The severe cold rolling was employed to enhance strength of Mg-3Gd-lZn (mass fraction, %) alloy sheet. The 0.2% yield stress of the Mg-3Gd-1Zn hot-rolled sheet can be increased by 150% through the single-pass cold rolling with the reduction of 23%, due to the high intensity of dislocation and basal texture established during cold rolling. Compared with the Mg-3Gd-lZn hot-rolled sheet, the cold-rolled sheet annealed at 350 for 30 min may get an enhancement in strength without a great loss of ductility. The sheet processed by multi-pass cold rolling does not show a higher strength as expected, due to the softening effect of shear bands. However, the thin slab with the thickness less than 1 mm can be produced by the multi-pass cold rolling with the annealing treatment as few as possible. 展开更多

Single cold rolling and double cold rolling were applied to hot rolled strips with different reduction ratios. The evolutions of { 100}, { 111} and Goss face texture during double rolling were investigated by comparing the orientation distribution function (ODF) of the double rolled sample with that of the single rolled one. The double cold rolling texture is characterized by a higher γ-texture and a lower α-texture, and the { 111}〈112〉 component is improved remarkably. Based on the TEM observation and mechanical properties test, it is found that the reduction ratio assignment significantly affects the texture variation, as-annealing microstructures, and properties of the double cold rolled samples. These results may provide a theoretical guide for the industrial production of double cold rolled IF steel. 展开更多

According to the suitable assumption, the deformation process of external spline cold rolling is analyzed. By the graphing method, the slip-line field of plastically deforming area in process of external spline cold rolling is set up. Different friction-conditions are used in different contact areas in order to realistically reflect the actual situation. The unit average pressure on contact surface of the rolling process is solved according to the stress filed theory of slip-line. And the formulae of the rolling-force and rolling-moment are established. The theoretical result is well consistent with the finite element analysis. A theoretical basis is provided for the precise forming process of spline cold rolling and the production of external splined shafts. 展开更多

The effects of cold rolling and annealing on the microstructure and textural evolution of a commercially pure titanium(CP-Ti) sheet were investigated. Electron backscatter diffractometry demonstrates that the deformation during rolling is accommodated by twinning and slip. Additionally, twinning is the dominant deformation mechanism when the cold rolling reduction is less than 40%. During rolling, {11ˉ22}11ˉ2ˉ3contraction twinning(CT) and {10ˉ12}10ˉ11 extension twinning(ET) are activated. And, the intensity of the(0002) pole along the ND gradually increases with increasing deformation. During annealing, the fraction of low angle grain boundaries(LAGBs) and the intensity of the(0002) pole along the ND gradually decrease slightly with increasing annealing time, while twinning lamellae disappear rapidly. When the annealing time reaches 60 min, 20% cold-rolled sheet recrystallizes almost completely. 展开更多

Some researchers have carried out qualitative and theoretical studies in this field. However, there is currently a lack of research on effective forecast and control of thermal scratch defects in practical production, especially in tandem cold rolling. In order to establish precise mathematical model of oil film thickness in deformation zone, the lubrication in cold rolling process of SUS410L stainless steel strip is studied, and major factors affecting oil film thickness are also analyzed. According to the principle of statistics, mathematical model of critical oil film thickness in deformation zone for thermal scratch is built, with fitting and regression analytical method, and then based on temperature comparison method, the criterion for deciding thermal scratch defects is put forward. Storing and calling data through SQL Server 2010, a software on thermal scratch defects control is developed through Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 by MFC technique for stainless steel in tandem cold rolling, and then it is put into practical production. Statistics indicate that the hit rate of thermal scratch is as high as 92.38%, and the occurrence rate of thermal scratch is decreased by 89.13%. Owing to the application of the software, the rolling speed is increased by approximately 9.3%. The software developed provides an effective solution to the problem of thermal scratch defects in tandem cold rolling, and helps to promote products surface quality of stainless steel strips in practical production. 展开更多

X-ray diffraction (XRD) was employed to analyze the texture evolution of commercial pure (CP) Ti during cold rolling and re- crystallization annealing. The texture components were measured by electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) after recrystallization an- nealing. The CP Ti tends to form a texture with the basal pole tilted 30°-40° away from the normal direction toward the transverse direction. The texture of the initial hot-rolled plate can be classified into three kinds, i.e., the pyramid texture (1013)[5230] and (2021)[1015], the basal plane texture (0001)[2110], and the stronger_prism_texture (1120)[0001]. After cold rolling and annealing (700℃,60 min),_the main texture components are the cold-rolled texture (1125)[1123] and the recrystallized texture (1013)[5230]. The texture (2021)[1015] is in- herited from the texture of the initial hot-rolled plate with the decrease of orientation density gradually. The volume contents of the cold-rolled texture {2115}(0110) and the recrystallized texture {1013}(1210) are calculated by EBSD. After recrystallization annealing, the specimen is rich in the recrystallized texture and inherits some of texture components from the cold-rolled texture. When the annealing time is prolonged, the anisotropic value decreases. 展开更多

This study has evaluated the effect of different levels of cold rolling(from 0 to 50%)on the microstructural, magnetic, and mechanical properties and the corrosion behavior of 316L austenitic stainless steel in Na Cl(1 mol/L)+H_2SO_4(0.5 mol/L)solution.Microstructural examinations using optical microscopy revealed the development of a morphological texture from coaxial to elongated grains during the cold-rolling process.Phase analysis carried out on the basis of X-ray diffraction confirmed the formation of the ferromagneticα′-martensite phase under the stresses applied during cold rolling. This finding is in agreement with magnetic measurements using a vibrating sample magnetometer.Mechanical properties determined by tensile and Vickers microhardness tests demonstrated an upward trend in the hardness-to-yield strength ratio with increasing cold-rolling percentage, representing a reduction in the material’s work-hardening ability.Uniform and localized corrosion parameters were estimated via potentiodynamic polarization corrosion tests and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. In contrast to the uniform corrosion, wherein the corrosion current density increased with increasing cold-working degree because of the high density of microstructural defects, the passive potential range and breakdown potential increased by cold working, showing greater resistance to pit nucleation.Although pits were formed, the cold-rolled material repassivation tendency decreased because of the broader hysteresis anodic loop,as confirmed experimentally by observation of the microscopic features after electrochemical cyclic polarization evaluations. 展开更多

In spline rolling process, the contact area between roller and workpiece plays an important role in calculating rolling-force and rolling-moment. For the purpose of studying the contact area, contact state between roller and workpiece in process of spline cold rolling based upon cross rolling is analyzed. According to the suitable hypothesis, the mathematic model of roller-tooth-curve in optional position of rolling process is established. Combing the theory of conjugate curves with the theory of envelope curve, the corresponding mathematic model of workpiece-tooth-curve is established. Rolling force and rolling moment are prime process parameter of external spline cold rolling. However, the precise theoretical formulae of rolling force and rolling moment are still very fewer, and the determination of them depends on experience. In the present study, the mathematical models of rolling force and rolling moment are established based on stress field theory of slip-line. And the isotropic hardening is used to improve the yield criterion. Based on MATLAB program language environment, calculation program is developed according to mathematical models established. The rolling force and rolling moment could be predicted quickly via the calculation program, and then the reliability of the models is validated by FEM. Within the range of module of spline m=0.5-1.5 mm, pressure angle of reference circle α=30.0°-45.0°, and number of spline teeth Z=19-54, the rolling force and rolling moment in rolling process (finishing rolling is excluded) are researched by means of virtualizing orthogonal experiment design. The results of the present study indicate that: the influences of module and number of spline teeth on the maximum rolling force and rolling moment in the process are remarkable; in the case of pressure angle of reference circle is little, module of spline is great, and number of spline teeth is little, the peak value of rolling force in rolling process may appear in the midst of the process; the peak value of rolling moment in rolling process appears in the midst of the process, and then oscillator weaken to a stable value. The results of the present study may provide guidelines for the determination of power of the motor and the design of hydraulic system of special machine, and provide basis for the farther researches on the precise forming process of external spline cold rolling. 展开更多

The dynamic model of cold rolling mill based on strip flatness and thickness integrated control was proposed, containing the following sub-models:the rolling process model, the dynamic model of rolls along axial direction, and the compensation model.Based on the rule of volume flow rate, the dynamic rolling process model was built. The work roll and backup roll were taken as elastic continuous bodies, the effect of shear and moment of inertia were taken into consideration, and then the dynamic model of rolls was built. The two models were coupled together, and the dynamic model of rolling mill was built. In the dynamic model, the thermal expansion of the rolls, the wear of the rolls and other related parameters can not be considered. In order to compensate the dynamic model, the coupled static model of rolls and strip was applied. Then, according to the inner relationship of these models, the dynamic model and the compensation model were coupled, and the dynamic model of rolling mill based on the strip flatness and thickness integrated control was built. The dynamic simulation of the rolling process was made, and the dynamic thickness and the dynamic flatness information were obtained. This model not only provides a theory basis for the virtual rolling, but also provides a platform for the application of advanced control theory. 展开更多

The effect of cold rolling reduction(50%-90%)on the grain structures of solutionized 1445 Al-Li alloy sheet at525-575 ℃ was investigated through electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD).Although the solutionization temperature is elevated to 575 ℃,the sheet is not completely recrystallized. The main recrystallization model is subgrain coalescence and growth, and the non-recrystallization is due to the formed nano-sized Al3(Sc,Zr)dispersoids,which pin the grain boundaries, subgrain boundaries and dislocations. With increasing the cold rolling reduction, the fraction and size of the recrystallized grains in the sheet solutionized at525 ℃ are decreased, but the fraction of the subgrains is increased, leading to a decrease in the fraction of the deformed structures.Meanwhile, the number fraction of high-angle boundaries(HABs)is increased.Due to the decreased fraction of the deformed structures and increased fraction of the HABs,the T8-aged 1445 Al-Li alloy sheet displays a decrease trend in the strength and heterogeneity with increasing the cold rolling reduction. At higher solutionization temperature of 575 ℃,the fraction of the recrystallized grains and their size are obviously increased. 展开更多
