The general theory can also be applied to channels of texts belonging to the same language both to study how texts of the same author may have changed over time, or to compare texts of different authors. First we introduce a Lie group structure and a Riemannian structure on the manifolds of the FIR filters. Then we derive the natural gradients on the manifolds using the isometry of the Riemannian metric. Using the natural gradient, we present a novel learning algorithm for blind deconvolution based on the minimization of mutual information. Some properties of the learning algorithm, such as equivariance and stability are also studied. Finally, the simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness and validity of the proposed algorithm.展开更多
Situational Crisis Communication Theory(SCCT)guides responses of corporations in crises.We tested how COVID-19 related crisis communication strategies affect trust in mayors and the acceptance of behavioral measures.A...Situational Crisis Communication Theory(SCCT)guides responses of corporations in crises.We tested how COVID-19 related crisis communication strategies affect trust in mayors and the acceptance of behavioral measures.A total of 561 participants(53%female)with a mean age of 50 years took part in an online experiment in which we systematically manipulated the mayor's crisis communication strategy(deny crisis,diminish role in crisis,rebuild relationship after taking responsibility,bolster reputation,no response)and pre-crisis reputation(good past crisis management,bad past crisis management).Age,gender,and education served as covariates.We also tested the predictive power of personal concern regarding the COVID-19 pandemic,as well as internal and external control convictions.In our preregistered analysis,we found that crisis communication strategies had no significant effect on participants'ratings of behavioral measures,but they affected participants'trust in the mayor.The deny crisis strategy resulted in the most unfavorable ratings,while the effects of the other strategies were moderated by the mayor's precrisis reputation.Additional exploratory analyses showed that individual concern and trust were important predictors for the acceptance of behavioral measures.Even though we did not find any effects of communication strategies on behavioral measures,our results support SCCT's utility in guiding communication strategy during a pandemic.展开更多

This study is the first to investigate how a local government’s humorously framed response strategy on social media to a low-severity crisis influences people ’s trust in the local government and their crisis-relate...This study is the first to investigate how a local government’s humorously framed response strategy on social media to a low-severity crisis influences people ’s trust in the local government and their crisis-related behavioral intentions,specific ally when considering the government’s responsibility for the crisis.Based on the situational crisis communication theory,we examined the mediating role of experienced positive or negative affect on people’ s responses to a local government’s crisis communication strategy.Further,we exploratorily examined the predictive power and moderating role of demographics,sense of humor,disposition to trust,and the respective crisis scenarios.A total of517 people participated in an online experiment in which they were confronted with three randomly presented fictive crisis scenarios where the local government’s crisis responsibility(high versus low) and the framing of their crisis response strategy(in form of humorous versus rational Twitter posts) were systematically varied between subjects.First,the results mostly corroborate earlier findings about the degree of crisis responsibility(that is,when a government’s crisis responsibility is high,people have less trust and behavioral intentions) and about the mediating role of experienced affect.Second,we found that humorously framed strategies negatively influence trust and positive affect(but not behavioral intentions).In contrast to earlier findings,the crisis responsibility × framing interaction was not significant.Altogether,the results advise against using humor in crisis communications on social media,even in lowseverity crisis.Exploratory analyses indicate that further investigations should focus on specific crisis characteristics and potential moderators.展开更多

The influence of the integral frequency offset is comprehensively analyzed in COOFDM system. Its performances in the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and the dispersive channel are investigated, respectively. Simulation results indicate that even in the dispersive channel, when the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) is low, it can still work very well.展开更多

A POF coupler (splitter) and the prisms were employed as multiplexer and demultiplexer, respectively. The channel isolation and insert loss were measured, which are 20.5 and 17.65 dB for 650-nm channel respectively, and 19.16 and 20.55 dB for 530 nm one respectively.展开更多

In this Letter, a modulated squeezed state is distributed over a lossy channel. The Wigner function of the distributed state is measured to observe the evolution of the quantum state over a lossy channel, which shows that the squeezing level and the displacement amplitude of the quantum state are decreased along with the increase of the channel loss. We also measure the squeezing level in the frequency domain by the frequency shift technique. The squeezing of the modulated squeezed state at the modulation frequency is observed in this way. The presented results supply a reference for a QKD with a squeezed state.展开更多

An optical finite impulse response (FIR) filter is introduced for suppression of amplified spontaneous emission noise. It is shown that carrier-to-noise-ratio of the OFC generated by this scheme can be as high as 38.8 dB with 12 dB improvement by using a 16-tap FIR filter, and the error vector magnitude performances of loaded Nyquist-16 quadrature amplitude modulation signal is imDroved from 14.20/% to 7 .44%.展开更多

文摘Situational Crisis Communication Theory(SCCT)guides responses of corporations in crises.We tested how COVID-19 related crisis communication strategies affect trust in mayors and the acceptance of behavioral measures.A total of 561 participants(53%female)with a mean age of 50 years took part in an online experiment in which we systematically manipulated the mayor's crisis communication strategy(deny crisis,diminish role in crisis,rebuild relationship after taking responsibility,bolster reputation,no response)and pre-crisis reputation(good past crisis management,bad past crisis management).Age,gender,and education served as covariates.We also tested the predictive power of personal concern regarding the COVID-19 pandemic,as well as internal and external control convictions.In our preregistered analysis,we found that crisis communication strategies had no significant effect on participants'ratings of behavioral measures,but they affected participants'trust in the mayor.The deny crisis strategy resulted in the most unfavorable ratings,while the effects of the other strategies were moderated by the mayor's precrisis reputation.Additional exploratory analyses showed that individual concern and trust were important predictors for the acceptance of behavioral measures.Even though we did not find any effects of communication strategies on behavioral measures,our results support SCCT's utility in guiding communication strategy during a pandemic.
文摘A novel communication technique is proposed, which utilizes a set of mutually distinguishable optical patterns instead of convergent facula to transmit information. Then the capacity is increased by exploiting the optical spatial bandwidth resources. At last, we experimentally demonstrate the proposed communication technique based on four 8 × 8 spatial pattern signals by using lenslet array processor.
文摘This study is the first to investigate how a local government’s humorously framed response strategy on social media to a low-severity crisis influences people ’s trust in the local government and their crisis-related behavioral intentions,specific ally when considering the government’s responsibility for the crisis.Based on the situational crisis communication theory,we examined the mediating role of experienced positive or negative affect on people’ s responses to a local government’s crisis communication strategy.Further,we exploratorily examined the predictive power and moderating role of demographics,sense of humor,disposition to trust,and the respective crisis scenarios.A total of517 people participated in an online experiment in which they were confronted with three randomly presented fictive crisis scenarios where the local government’s crisis responsibility(high versus low) and the framing of their crisis response strategy(in form of humorous versus rational Twitter posts) were systematically varied between subjects.First,the results mostly corroborate earlier findings about the degree of crisis responsibility(that is,when a government’s crisis responsibility is high,people have less trust and behavioral intentions) and about the mediating role of experienced affect.Second,we found that humorously framed strategies negatively influence trust and positive affect(but not behavioral intentions).In contrast to earlier findings,the crisis responsibility × framing interaction was not significant.Altogether,the results advise against using humor in crisis communications on social media,even in lowseverity crisis.Exploratory analyses indicate that further investigations should focus on specific crisis characteristics and potential moderators.
文摘The French discourse model of human communication is largely an engagement of the problematic concept of enlightenment as a product of the ability to reason by thinking.The engagement as speaking and writing becomes thematic,when one considers that,the product called“reason”also should explicate the process wherein the conscious experience of being is essentially“reasonable”in doing as listening and reading.The engaged analysis of reason differentiates among parole,discours,langue,and langage as a synthesis of logic mediating rhetoric and grammar as models of expression and perception.The method is known as the trivium in the Medieval universities of Europe,subsequently adopted as a pedagogy throughout Europe,and last,adopted by C.S.Peirce as a foundational semiotic methodology for science(methodeutic).The influence of the human science adaptations emerges in France with the philosophic cross-over and intertwined(chiasm)positions of Existentialism,Phenomenology,Structuralism,and Semiology.Doing the reasonable requires metaphor and metonymy,simile and synecdoche in the service of expression,yet,it also demands the perception of their respective counterparts in allegory,analogy,allegoresis,and aphorism.The human journey from thinking to speaking to doing and the return(renvoi)is one of ingenuity made eloquent in the face of crisis.It was so for the Ionian enlightenment,it was so for the European enlightenment,and it is so for us.

文摘A new blind frequency offset estimation method based on cyclic prefix and virtual subcarriers in coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) system is presented. It is able to estimate the fractional part and integral part of frequency offset at the same time. Its estimation range is about [-3.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz]. The influence of the integral frequency offset is comprehensively analyzed in COOFDM system. Its performances in the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and the dispersive channel are investigated, respectively. Simulation results indicate that even in the dispersive channel, when the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) is low, it can still work very well.

文摘Visible light wavelength division multiplexing (VWDM) experiment was performed using polymer optical fiber (POF). Lights of two different wavelengths (650 and 530 nm) were sent to a single POF. Red light (650 nm) was used for 100-Mb/s full duplex IP data transmission and green light (530 nm) was used for voice signal transmission. Light sources are light-emitting diodes (LEDs). A POF coupler (splitter) and the prisms were employed as multiplexer and demultiplexer, respectively. The channel isolation and insert loss were measured, which are 20.5 and 17.65 dB for 650-nm channel respectively, and 19.16 and 20.55 dB for 530 nm one respectively.

文摘In the quantum key distribution system, quantum channel is always affected by spontaneous Raman scattering noise when it transmits with classical channels that act as synchronization and data channels on a shared fiber. To study the effect of the noise exactly, the temporal distribution characteristics of the Raman scattering noise are analyzed theoretically and measured by a single-photon detector. On the basis of this, a scheme to decrease the noise is proposed.
文摘The influences of various laser modes on the splitting beam effect of Dammann grating are studied in theory and by numerical simulation. The results show that fundamental mode laser resembles plane wave while high order mode laser differs from plane wave in the splitting beam effect by Dammann grating. Therefore, the fundamental mode laser is more suitable to be the light source to improve the energy efficiency in far-distance image detecting systems, such as laser image ladar, which use Dammann grating in the ilhlmination svstem.

文摘The distribution of a modulated squeezed state over a quantum channel is the basis for quantum key distribution(QKD) with a squeezed state. In this Letter, a modulated squeezed state is distributed over a lossy channel. The Wigner function of the distributed state is measured to observe the evolution of the quantum state over a lossy channel, which shows that the squeezing level and the displacement amplitude of the quantum state are decreased along with the increase of the channel loss. We also measure the squeezing level in the frequency domain by the frequency shift technique. The squeezing of the modulated squeezed state at the modulation frequency is observed in this way. The presented results supply a reference for a QKD with a squeezed state.

文摘To overcome the shortcomings of traditional image restoration model and total variation image restoration model, we propose a novel Hopfield neural network-based image restoration algorithm with adaptive mixed-norm regularization. The new error function of image restoration combines the L2-norm and L1- norm regularization types. A method of calculating the adaptive scale control parameter is introduced. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is better than other algorithms with single norm regularization in the improvement of signal-to-noise ratio (ISNR) and vision effect.

文摘We demonstrate a new scheme for generation of optical frequency comb (OFC) based on cascade modulators, 23 comb lines within 0.5 dB spectral power variation are obtained. An optical finite impulse response (FIR) filter is introduced for suppression of amplified spontaneous emission noise. It is shown that carrier-to-noise-ratio of the OFC generated by this scheme can be as high as 38.8 dB with 12 dB improvement by using a 16-tap FIR filter, and the error vector magnitude performances of loaded Nyquist-16 quadrature amplitude modulation signal is imDroved from 14.20/% to 7 .44%.
