Method/Process: Based on the themes and contents of a few media accounts of leading cadres at different ranks, we summarizes leading cadres new media usage in a systematic perspective and content analysize method. Result/Conclusion: The study defines the concept of Leading Cadres’ new media from the perspective of media practice, determine its position as a media communication platform in the government affairs new media communication system and its relationship with the other elements, and then systematically review the evolution of its media practice from personal website, blog, microblog and microblog to WeChat, live show. On this basis, with the Harold Lasswell communication model, this article summarizes leading cadres new media communication characteristics from five aspects: content producer, content, channel, audience, and effect. In the present work, we investigate threshold characteristics of a single mode 1.55 μm InGaAsP vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) with two different optical confinement structures. The device employs InGa...In the present work, we investigate threshold characteristics of a single mode 1.55 μm InGaAsP vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) with two different optical confinement structures. The device employs InGaAsP active region, which is sandwiched between GaAs/AlGaAs and GaAs/AlAs distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs). The optical confinement introduced by the oxide aperture or a single defect photonic crystal design with holes etched throughout the whole structure, is compared with previous work. Photonic crystal VCSEL shows 30.86% and 57.02% lower threshold current than that of the similar oxide confined VCSEL and previous results, respectively. This paper provides key results of the threshold characteristics, including the threshold current and the threshold power. Results suggest that, the 1.55 μm InGaAsP photonic crystal VCSEL seems to be the most optimal one for light sources in high performance optical communication systems.展开更多

Intrabody communication(IBC)technology is becoming progressively more standard-ized due to its low power consumption and high security features incorporated into the third phys-ical layer of the IEEE 802.15.6 standard...Intrabody communication(IBC)technology is becoming progressively more standard-ized due to its low power consumption and high security features incorporated into the third phys-ical layer of the IEEE 802.15.6 standard.Even then,there are still many challenges in normalizing the measurement issues of IBC.A major concern that should not be overlooked is the electrodes in the IBC,especially the popular use of gel electrodes.In the channel measurements,gel electrodes are commonly employed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and prevent electrodes from falling off.In this paper,a comparative study of the electrical properties of gel was investigated during the measurement of human channel characteristics and to clarify the differences of them.Firstly,the basis of electrostatic field pole plate measurements and electromagnetic theory were introduced to interpretate how the relative permittivity and conductivity of different gels will influence the meas-urement results.Then the in vivo experiments with different gel or dry electrodes were performed to compare the differences induced by the gel.The results indicate that the influence of the gel on the human channel measurement is mainly concentrated below 400 kHz(the attenuation is re-duced by 16.7 dB on average),and the stability of the permittivity and conductivity of the gel has a direct impact on the stability of its measurement of the human channel.This result may provide a meaningful reference for the standardization of electrode usage in IBC.展开更多

Through analysis of the modulation characteristics of LEDs with dif...This paper conducts a research on modulation characteristics of blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs) used in a visible-light communication (VLC) system. Through analysis of the modulation characteristics of LEDs with different emitting sizes, we find that there is a similar linear relationship between LED’s 3dB bandwidth and the operation current density. This experiment also shows that high series resistance is one major issue that limits our LED's modulation speed. To further improve the LED bandwidth, the resistance can be reduced by optimizing device layout as well as reducing material bulk resistance. Clearly, this study provides an approach to increase the modulation bandwidth of GaN-based LEDs for VLC systems.展开更多

Due to the limited bandwidth and transmission congestion of the vehicle platoon's communication,it is inevitable to induce time delay,which significantly degrades the control performance of the vehicle platoon,eve...Due to the limited bandwidth and transmission congestion of the vehicle platoon's communication,it is inevitable to induce time delay,which significantly degrades the control performance of the vehicle platoon,even resulting in instability.This paper focuses on analyzing the internal stability under generic communication topologies and presents a method of computing the exact time delay margin(ETDM).The proposed method can offer a necessary and sufficient internal stability condition with no conservatism.Firstly,to reduce the analytical complexity and computational burden elegantly,we decompose the closed-loop platoon dynamics into a set of individual subsystems via similarity transformation and matrix factorization.This decomposition approach is applicable for any general communication topology.Secondly,an explicit formula is deduced to compute the ETDM by surveying the characteristic roots'distribution of all these individual subsystems.It is further demonstrated that only the positive purely imaginary roots need to be considered to compute the ETDM.Finally,simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical claims.展开更多
Exascale computing is one of the major challenges of this decade,and several studies have shown that communications are becoming one of the bottlenecks for scaling parallel applications.The analysis on the characteris...Exascale computing is one of the major challenges of this decade,and several studies have shown that communications are becoming one of the bottlenecks for scaling parallel applications.The analysis on the characteristics of communications can effectively aid to improve the performance of scientific applications.In this paper,we focus on the statistical regularity in time-dimension communication characteristics for representative scientific applications on supercomputer systems,and then prove that the distribution of communication-event intervals has a power-law decay,which is common in scientific interests and human activities.We verify the distribution of communication-event intervals has really a power-law decay on the Tianhe-2 supercomputer,and also on the other six parallel systems with three different network topologies and two routing policies.In order to do a quantitative study on the power-law distribution,we exploit two groups of statistics:bursty vs.memory and periodicity vs.dispersion.Our results indicate that the communication events show a“strong-bursty and weak-memory”characteristic and the communication event intervals show the periodicity and the dispersion.Finally,our research provides an insight into the relationship between communication optimizations and time-dimension communication characteristics.展开更多

A henge-like metaring(HMR)is proposed for improving the radiation pattern roundness of monopole antennas offcenter mounted on a finite ground by localizing the radiation from the monopole and suppressing the scatterin...A henge-like metaring(HMR)is proposed for improving the radiation pattern roundness of monopole antennas offcenter mounted on a finite ground by localizing the radiation from the monopole and suppressing the scattering by the ground.The improved patterns enhance uniform coverage of multiple-input and multiple-output(MIMO)systems.The study reveals that the radiation pattern of an off-center monopole is distorted by the asymmetric ground currents excited by both the feed and the radiation of the monopole.The distorted radiation patterns severely degrade wireless communication link quality.The HMR,composed of an annular array of mushroom unit cells,simultaneously functions as an electromagnetic bandgap(EBG)and a radiator,and encircles the monopole to form a henge monopole antenna(HMA).The HMR as an EBG is used to suppress the ground currents outside the HMR analyzed by an equivalent circuit model.The HMR as a radiator is designed to decouple the monopole from the ground with its elevated radiation pattern using characteristic mode analysis.As examples,two prototypes of single and four off-center MIMO HMAs are designed and investigated in the 2.45-GHz band.Simulated and measured results show that the single HMA and each of the four HMAs achieve the un-roundness of the radiation pattern atθ=65°plane lower than 2 dB and 3 dB in the 2.45-GHz band.As a result,near the radiation nulls,the SNR is improved by 6 dB.The compact construction and efficient current suppression facilitate the application of HMAs in multi-antenna systems above a finite ground with uniform coverage and reliable connections.展开更多

文摘A henge-like metaring(HMR)is proposed for improving the radiation pattern roundness of monopole antennas offcenter mounted on a finite ground by localizing the radiation from the monopole and suppressing the scattering by the ground.The improved patterns enhance uniform coverage of multiple-input and multiple-output(MIMO)systems.The study reveals that the radiation pattern of an off-center monopole is distorted by the asymmetric ground currents excited by both the feed and the radiation of the monopole.The distorted radiation patterns severely degrade wireless communication link quality.The HMR,composed of an annular array of mushroom unit cells,simultaneously functions as an electromagnetic bandgap(EBG)and a radiator,and encircles the monopole to form a henge monopole antenna(HMA).The HMR as an EBG is used to suppress the ground currents outside the HMR analyzed by an equivalent circuit model.The HMR as a radiator is designed to decouple the monopole from the ground with its elevated radiation pattern using characteristic mode analysis.As examples,two prototypes of single and four off-center MIMO HMAs are designed and investigated in the 2.45-GHz band.Simulated and measured results show that the single HMA and each of the four HMAs achieve the un-roundness of the radiation pattern atθ=65°plane lower than 2 dB and 3 dB in the 2.45-GHz band.As a result,near the radiation nulls,the SNR is improved by 6 dB.The compact construction and efficient current suppression facilitate the application of HMAs in multi-antenna systems above a finite ground with uniform coverage and reliable connections.
