The progressive aging of society is expected to lead to the development of effective integrated community-based care system considering the characteristics based on community environments. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced population health worldwide. This study aimed to examine disparities in population health and health-related factors between rural and urban communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. A literature search was conducted using PubMed, Medline, and CINAHL for articles published up to September 2022 with the following search terms: community health, rural, urban, and COVID-19. A total of 105 articles were identified, of which three articles with a cross-sectional quantitative research design met the inclusion criteria. Two articles focused on mental health, and among them, one recognized a significant disparity between rural and urban areas. Four health-related factors in view of the COVID-19 pandemic in rural and urban areas were perceived, including knowledge, behavior, lifestyle, and social support. And, two factors: health-related knowledge and health-related behavior, were perceived as the significant disparities between rural and urban during the COVID-19 pandemic. The further efforts will be needed to pursue effective integrated community-based care system during and post-COVID-19, taking into account community environment at both community and individual levels. 展开更多

The progressive aging of society has become a global concern, and is expected to lead to the development of effective, sustainable, person-centered, integrated community-based care systems. However, there is insufficient evidence regarding effective integrated community-based care. In particular, few studies have focused on social aspects of the community environment related to elderly health. This study aimed to consider social aspects as evaluation items, focusing particularly on social determinants from the perspective of community-dwelling people, to explore truly effective integrated community-based care to improve elderly health. The definition of social determinants means social cohesion in social and community contexts. A literature review of English articles published in peer-reviewed journals up to October 2019 was conducted using PubMed, MEDLINE, and CINAHL with the following search terms: “social cohesion,” “elderly health,” “mental health” and “community.” Identified articles were screened based on title and abstract, and selected articles were subjected to full-text assessment and critical review. All references cited in the selected articles were also reviewed. The following inclusion criteria were used: 1) studies targeting community-dwelling elderly people or community-dwelling people including elderly people as participants;2) studies with clear descriptions of social factors in the Methods section;and 3) studies with clear descriptions of health-related items in the Methods section. From the 21 articles analyzed, of which 9 articles defined social determinants as social cohesion in social and community context, 37 items were extracted as social aspects at the community level that reflect the perspective of residents. These items can be developed as evaluation items for community-based health care outcomes through consensus among community health care providers and further investigation. 展开更多

The community characteristics of macrobenthos in the Huanghe(Yellow River) Estuary is influenced by a combination of natural and anthropogenic factors. Here, we investigated short-term changes(1-month) in macrobenthic community structure in response to water and sediment discharge regulation(WSDR) in 2011.Specifically, we sampled the macrobenthos at 18 sampling stations situated at four distances(5, 10, 20, and 40 km)from the mouth of the Huanghe Estuary before(mid-June), during(early-July), and after(mid-July) WSDR. The results showed that a total of 73, 72, and 85 species were collected before, during, and after WSDR, respectively. Then, 13, 1, and 16 dominant species were detected at this three periods. Four phyla were primarily detected at all three periods(Annelida, Mollusca, Arthropoda, and Echinodermata). However, while Mollusca and Annelida were the most important phyla in our study, Echinodermata and Annelida were the most important phyla in 1982,demonstrating major changes to community structure over a 3-decadal period. All stations were of high quality BOPA index before WSDR, whereas two and three stations were of reduced quality BOPA index during and after WSDR, respectively. The results of ABC curves showed that had incurred disturbed conditions after human activities WSDR. Most important of all, multivariate analyses and RDA analysis indicated that the structure of the macrobenthic community was closely linked to environment factors, including that organic content factor caused the distribution of macrobenthic community mostly during WSDR, while water depth after WSDR affected the macro benthos community structure seriously, and during WSDR, the environment factor influencing it was not single, including organic content, sulfide content, Hg and As. These differences may have been due to changes in water transparency negatively impacting the growth and development of macrobenthos, due to specific lifehistory requirements. Our results demonstrate that anthropogenic activity is having both long-term(3 decadal)and short term(1-month) impacts on the structure of the macrobenthic community of the Huanghe Estuary. In conclusion, human activities WSDR influence the habitat environment of macro benthos, including the water temperature, nutrients, bioturbation, and so on. Therefore, we suggest the necessity to strengthen regulations of land-derived organic pollutant input to maintain the ecological balance of the Huanghe Estuary. 展开更多

A better understanding of bacterioplankton community shifts following change in marine environments is critical to predict the marine ecosystem function. In order to get a snapshot of the microbial taxonomy profiling of a wide range marine area, a quick, convenient and low cost method would be favorable. In this study, we developed a 16S rRNA gene-based microarray using ARB software, which contained 447 probes targeting 160 families of marine bacteria. The specificity, sensitivity and quantitative capability of this microarray were assessed by single cloned16S rRNA genes. The reliability of this microarray was tested by eight environmental samples. The results showed that the microarray was specific, only 1.16% false results were detected in five single-clone hybridization tests. The microarray could detect DNA samples as few as 1 ng/μL and the signal intensity could reflect the relative abundance of the bacteria in the range of 1 ng/μL to 100 ng/μL of DNA concentration. Hybridization with environmental samples showed that it can discriminate bacterioplankton communities by sites and time. High throughput sequencing results from the eight samples confirmed the hybridization results. It indicated that this developed microarray could be used as a convenient tool to monitor the bacterioplankton community in marine environment. 展开更多

Marine biodiversity is changing in response to altered physical environment, subsequent ecological changes as well as anthropogenic disturbances. In this study, phytoplankton samples in situ collected in the Bering Sea in July of 1999 and 2010 were analyzed to obtain phytoplankton community structure and spatial-temporal variation between the beginning and end of this decade, and the correlation of phytoplankton community dynamics and environmental factors was investigated. A total of 5 divisions, 58 genera and 153 species of phytoplankton belonging to 3 ecological groups were identified. The vast majority of phytoplankton consisted of diatoms accounting for 66.7% of the total species and 95.2% of the total abundance. Considering differentiation in spatial extent and phytoplankton sample types, there were subtle changes in species composition, large altering in abundance and significant variation in spatial distribution between two surveys. The abundance peak area was located at the Bering Strait while sub peak was found at the Bering Sea Basin. The boreal-temperate diatom was the dominant flora, which was subsequently replaced by eurythermal and frigid-water diatom. Phytoplankton community in the Bering Sea was not a simplex uniform community but composed of deep-ocean assemblage and neritic assemblage. The deep-ocean assemblage was located in the northwestern Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea Basin, dominated by boreal-temperate species(Neodenticula seminae, Thalassiothrix longissima, Amphiprora hyperborean, Chaetoceros atlanticus, Thalassiosira trifulta, etc.) and eurychoric species(Thalassionema nitzschioides, Ch. compressus, Rhizosolenia styliformis, etc.), and characterized by low abundance, even interspecies abundance allocations, diverse dominant species and high species diversity. The neritic assemblage was distributed on the continental shelf and slope of Bering Sea and was mainly composed of frigid-water species(Th.nordenski?ldii, Ch. furcellatus, Ch. socialis, Bacteriosira fragilis, etc.) and eurythermal and euryhaline species(L.danicus, Ch. curvisetus, Coscinodiscus curvatulus, etc.), and it was characterized by high abundance, uneven interspecies allocations, prominent dominant species and low species diversity. Spatial-temporal variation of species composition and abundance of phytoplankton in the Bering Sea was directly controlled by surface circulation, nutrient supply and ice edge. 展开更多

In order to evaluate the regulating effect of " aquatic environment protection oriented fishery" on aquatic ecosystem, the water quality, plankton community structure, biomass, diversity index, eutrophication index and ecosystem maturity evaluated with Ecopath model were compared from 2010 to 2012 in Qiaodun Reservoir of Zhejiang Province. It was indicated that the water quality had been improved obviously. The water transparency maximally increased by 130%,while TP,TN and CODCrwere reduced. The density and biomass of the plankton were decreased,so was the ratio of Cynobacteria in phytoplankton community. The Shannon-Weaver index was increased; the trophic level was decreased; the ecosystem maturity was improved. By all accounts, the " aquatic environment protection oriented fishery" had positive effects on maintaining the balance of reservoir ecosystem and ensuring the safety of drinking water. 展开更多
