For millions of residents to interact with smart grid in the future, there should be an economical and practical schedule to realize the information exchange in low voltage. In this paper, an autonomously developed smart grid product, the optical fiber composite low voltage cable (OPLC), is introduced. OPLC has brought simultaneous transmission of power flow and information flow into reality and solved the high-speed and reliable terminal broadband access problem in the 400 volts power grid. By adopting OPLC and advanced information and communication technologies, such as network security isolation equipment and ethernet passive optical network (EPON), power fiber to the home (PFTTH) (a new network structure from low voltage side of distribution transformer to the household) is presented. The typical application in the smart grid community based on PFTTH shows that PFTTH can integrate electric network businesses and public network businesses in the same cable. The pilots of smart grid communities prove PFTTH is successful in smart grid application, and is an effective and attractive way for the co-development of energy and information.展开更多
