Corroborative Activities and Recognition Between Community Comprehensive Care Unit’s Nurses and Care Managers in Supporting Discharge of Elderly from Hospital - A Secondary Publication

Objective: The purpose of this study was to clarify the collaborative activities and mutual recognition between community comprehensive care unit nurses (Ns) and care managers (CM) in supporting the discharge of the elderly from the hospital. Methods: A total of 300 nurses working in community comprehensive care wards and 360 care managers working in B City in A Prefecture were surveyed using an anonymous self-administered questionnaire. Results: The highest percentage of responses regarding necessary collaborative activities with multiple professions in supporting hospital discharge were the same for Ns and CMs. The items regarding practice with the highest percentages were “relationship as a team” for Ns, and “user-centered awareness” for CM. While these professionals were willing to share information about their patients’ lives after discharge, the percentage of those explaining their expertise was low. It is thought that collaborative activities focusing on these aspects would lead to more appropriate discharge support.

Research on the Application of the OSCE Model in Vocational Nursing Comprehensive Practical Training

The objective of this study is to examine the application effect of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination(OSCE)model in the comprehensive practical training course for higher vocational nursing.Based on the evaluation dimensions of core nursing competencies,the OSCE framework was constructed with the clinical nursing work process as the main focus and supported by a nursing case database.A questionnaire survey revealed that over 80%of students in the experimental group were satisfied with the application of OSCE in the nursing comprehensive practical training course,and more than 90%believed that OSCE assessment enhanced their theoretical knowledge and practical skills.The OSCE was also considered helpful in transforming learned knowledge and skills into professional competencies.

Software engineering is an engineering discipline that guides software developers to carry out software development,software maintenance,and software management.The traditional evaluation methods of software engineering courses do not highlight the training goal of outcomebased education(OBE).This paper systematically studies the evaluation methods for practical courses in software engineering from three aspects:course evaluation guidelines,course evaluation methods and course evaluation effects;establishes a comprehensive,scientific,and objective system of course evaluation;effectively measures students’learning effect;promotes teachers to continuously improve the teaching process;and thus improves the teaching quality of software engineering courses.Besides the general approach,this paper also takes software project construction practice as an example to demonstrate the effect of the proposed approach.

Prenatal Playful-Educational Activities, Psycho-Emotional Well-Being of Pregnant Women and Perinatal Outcomes: A Pilot Study

Objective: To present the results of a pilot study that evaluated the psycho-emotional well-being, and the perinatal results of a group of 44 women who attended a prenatal program that incorporates playful and educational activities, in a Child Development Center in Durango. Mexico. Methods: A group of 44 women with informed consent participated for 28 weeks in the prenatal program. The condition of psycho-emotional well-being during the first and third trimesters and the perinatal results were analyzed with validated instruments. Physiological stress was also assessed with salivary cortisol in the same trimesters. Results: More than 90% of the women evaluated their psycho-emotional condition as satisfactory and very satisfactory. The evaluation of anxiety in its Trait/State modalities placed the participants in the category of mild and moderate. Salivary cortisol showed values within a normal range. Perinatal results showed that 98% of deliveries were at term, 93% of newborns weighed more than 2500 grams, and 98% of newborns had an APGAR score of 9 at 5 minutes. Conclusion: The results suggest that the incorporation of playful and educational actions to prenatal surveillance positively influenced the biopsychosocial condition of the pregnant woman and favorable perinatal outcomes.

Comprehensive Multi-Level Exploration of Buried Active Faults:an Example of the Yinchuan Buried Active Fault

The paper introduces the steps and methods of multi-approach, multi-level exploration of buried faults in thick Quaternary sediment regions by taking the test exploration of the Yinchuan active fault as example. Based on the comprehensive analyses of previous data, we choose the Xinqushao Village of Xingqing District of Yinchuan City as the test site for the comprehensive exploration. Firstly, we adopted shallow seismic investigation with group intervals of 10m, 5m and lm to gradually trace layer by layer the master fault of the Yinchuan buried fault from a deep depth to a shallow depth where drilling could be used. Then, with composite geological profile drilling, we determined the precise location and dip angle of the fault. The drilling show the buried depth of the upper offset point is 8.3m. Finally, large-scale trenching revealed that the actual buried depth of the upper offset point of the fault is 1.5m from the ground surface and there are paleoearthquake events of 5 stages. Combined with the preliminary result of corresponding sample age, we conclude the Yinchuan buried fault is a mid to late Holocene active fault.

Investigating the Use of Strategic Reading Activities in College English Class: A Case Study

This paper,by adopting a qualitative research method,investigated the use of strategic reading activities by two female teachers in College English classes.Results showed that their commonly-used strategic reading activities in college English classes reflected three types of reading comprehension strategies including use of prior knowledge,use of text elements with a high information value,and use of structure-marking elements in the text.Pedagogical implications were also discussed.

“Tasks”versus“Disciplines”:The Comprehensive Surveys of Natural Resources by the Chinese Academy of Sciences,and the Politics of Science Policy in the People’s Republic of China

As soon as the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)was founded by the new government of the People’s Republic of China in 1949,the principles of“linking theory with practice”and“conducting research to serve the people”set the framework for its scientific studies.How to balance their obligations to facilitate national economic construction with their desires to advance disciplinary scientific developments posed a knotty problem that frustrated those who organized and engaged in scientific research across the country,and in the CAS in particular.Against this background,the slogan“let tasks lead disciplines”was proposed as an effective solution.However,how exactly to put this into practice became a pressing issue,as CAS scientists and scholars debated the relationship between tasks and advances within scientific disciplines.This paper examines these debates as they were carried out in the case of the comprehensive surveys of natural resources organized by the CAS,focusing especially on different understandings of the relationship between“tasks”and“disciplines”within the CAS in the early 1960s,and examining the impact and legacy of“letting tasks lead disciplinary developments,”with possible lessons for the formulation of scientific plans today.
