The infrared conformal window is one of the most critical components in aircraft.Conformal windows with high performance bring low aberrations, high aerodynamic performance, reliability in extreme working environments, and added value for aircraft.Through the past decades, remarkable advances have been achieved in manufacturing technologies for conformal windows, where the machining accuracy approaches the nanometer level, and the surface form becomes more complex. These advances are critical to aircraft development, and these manufacturing technologies also have significant reference values for other directions of the ultra-precision machining field. In this review, the infrared materials suitable for manufacturing conformal windows are introduced and compared with insights into their performances. The remarkable advances and concrete work accomplished by researchers are reviewed. The challenges in manufacturing conformal windows that should be faced in the future are discussed. 展开更多

A conformal optical system refers to the one whose first optical surface conforms to both aerodynamic and imaging requirements. Appropriate correction is required because a conformal dome induces significant aberrations. This paper intends to explain that an effective solution to the easy-fabrication conic surface corrector compensates aberrations induced by a coaxial aspheric dome. A conformal optical system with an ellipsoid MgF2 conformal dome, which has a fineness ratio of 2.0, is designed as an example. The field of regard angle is -4-30 degrees with a +2 degree instantaneous field of view. The system's ultimate value of modulation transfer function is close to the diffraction limit, which indicates that the performance of the conic conformal optical system with a fixed conic corrector meets the imaging requirements. 展开更多

This paper analyses the dynamic residual aberrations of a conformal optical system and introduces adaptive optics (AO) correction technology to this system. The image sharpening AO system is chosen as the correction scheme.Communication between MATLAB and Code V is established via ActiveX technique in computer simulation. The SPGD algorithm is operated at seven zoom positions to calculate the optimized surface shape of the deformable mirror. After comparison of performance of the corrected system with the baseline system,AO technology is proved to be a good way of correcting the dynamic residual aberration in conformal optical design. 展开更多

Super-resolution imaging is vital for optical applications, such as high capacity information transmission, real-time bio-molecular imaging, and nanolithography. In recent years, technologies and methods of super-resolution imaging have attracted much attention. Different kinds of novel lenses, from the superlens to the super-oscillatory lens, have been designed and fabricated to break through the diffraction limit. However, the effect of the super-resolution imaging in these lenses is not satisfactory due to intrinsic loss, aberration, large sidebands, and so on. Moreover, these lenses also cannot realize multiple super-resolution imaging. In this research, we introduce the solid immersion mechanism to Mikaelian lens(ML) for multiple super-resolution imaging. The effect is robust and valid for broadband frequencies. Based on conformal transformation optics as a bridge linking the solid immersion ML and generalized Maxwell's fish-eye lens(GMFEL), we also discovered the effect of multiple super-resolution imaging in the solid immersion GMFEL. 展开更多

We perform a semi-analytical calculation of the field distributions of a conformal invisible device via mode expansions. For a discrete set of frequencies in the regime of wave optics, the conformal invisible device is perfectly transparent, which stems from the special conformal mapping and the refractive- index profile of the Mikaelian lens. 展开更多
