Conglutination is one of the rarest disorders encountered during labor. Reported by few authors over the centuries, its diagnosis and management are fraught with pitfalls in terms of the experience of the health-care team and the likely complications of vaginal delivery. We report on a case received at the university clinics in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, where we successfully delivered vaginally. Discussions are not clear-cut as to the preferred route of delivery in cases of external cervical conglutination, but in our context where society is pronatalist and women are unwilling to undergo caesarean section, every intervention [to be] performed should consider the impact of such intervention on the woman’s obstetrical future and the vaginal route should be preferred whenever reasonably possible. 展开更多

A multi-shape representation approach for measuring geometrical properties of profiled fibers was presented. From closed edge chains of a fiber cross section, three evenly spaced vertices were selected to form a triangle by changing the vertices' spacing,or the step length, the Triangle Area Representation(TAR)was calculated with a special determinant. The bend direction of the two consecutive lines drawn by three vertices determined the sign of the TAR.TARN and TARP were negative and positive extensions of TAR,and used to analyze concave and convex segments on the boundary. The length of TARN measured the size of concaveness.Multi-scale TARPs together with TARN can help to detect fiber conglutinations. 展开更多

All coal preparation in which fine coal is handled depends to some extent on the wettability of coal surface by water. The content of external water in fine moist material plays significant role on screening. This article probed into the causations why fine moist materials adhere to the screen deck on common vibrator in the process of screening. Although the wetting that results from interactions between the coal surface and water molecules that are determined by the composition of coal matrix (interrelated with coal rank) and heterogeneous constituents such as oxygen function groups, mineral impurities and pores have something to do with adhering, we found that the effect of wettability is not the key causation to agglomeration, in other words, water bridges among particles are the key causation to the fine moist materials’ adhesion. This paper also shows how the capillary adhesive forces forms and how to calculate and measure these forces. 展开更多
