Hunger is a physiological need,but the production and consumption of adequate and balanced food is a function of social forces.At every point,social,political,and economic processes intervene,for better or(more common)for worse.Food is one fundamental need of human beings for survival.But in Nigeria there is widespread food shortage and hunger.Development scholars have put forward reasons why poverty,hunger persists in the country,from the platitudes about population growth,inadequate implementation of agricultural policies,and neglect of agriculture,bad leadership,corruption,and the issue of distribution.Nigeria is richly blessed with arable land and citizens eager to unlock its food potentials.Unfortunately,this is far from being realized as the country depends on foreign countries for food,a situation that is tragic and sad.She spends about$10 billion a year importing food and agricultural products,the majority of which are wheat,rice,poultry,fish,and consumer-oriented foods.The pressure on the exchange rate results in devaluation-triggered inflation and food costs that fly up beyond the grasp of people at the bottom of the ladder as it is now is one of the negative repercussions of high food importation bills.Examining the effects of hunger is one of this paper’s key concerns and goals,and anger crisis for achieving sustainable development in the country using the Frustration-Aggression Theory,The Relative Deprivation and Political Economy Approach as guide.

Coordinated development of Yunnan's frontier culture and economy under the regional economic integration pattern

This paper constructs the index system by means of quantitative analysis. We choose the coordination degree of Yunnan province from 2012 to 2015. The regional cultural and economic development in Yunnan's frontier are analyzed so that we can provide the reference for the sustainable development of Yunnan's frontier and realize the coordinated development of culture in Yunnan's frontier and economic system in order. The results show that the culture and economy in Yunnan's frontier are coupled with formation of the coordinated development of culture and economy; economic development is the main reason to promote the coordinated development of culture and economy in Yunnan's frontier, and it contributes to the main force of improving the coordinated development of evolution types; the coordinated development degree of the overall level is low and still in the China's backward level.

Coordinated Development of Population, Economy and Environment System and Diagnosis of Its Obstacle Factors in Nanjing

Promoting the coordinated development of regional population,economy and environment is beneficial to the realization of sustainable development.Based on the construction of evaluation index system of coordinated development of systems,the entropy weight-TOPSIS method and coupling coordination model,the coordinated development degree of population,economy and environment system in Nanjing was measured,and the temporal variation characteristics of each subsystem and their coordinated development degree form 1997 to 2016 were analyzed.The results showed that the development of population,economy system and environment system in Nanjing was generally in a continuous upward trend.Among them,the economy system developed fastest.The coordinated development degree of population,economy system and environment system in Nanjing was constantly increasing but still at a low level;the degree was only in the primary coordination phase,and its type was environment lagging.The economy subsystem and environment subsystem were important factors restricting the development of population,economy and environment in Nanjing,and the main obstacle factor was the production of industrial solid waste.The results above can provide a scientific basis for promoting the coordinated development of population,economy and environment system in Nanjing and achieving regional sustainable development.

Coordinated Development Level of Economic Society and Ecological Environment in Binzhou City

Based on the data of GDP per capita and emissions of major pollutants in Binzhou City from 2013 to 2017,the changing trends of emissions of major pollutants with the increase of GDP per capita,as well as the coordinated development level of ecological environment and social economy in Binzhou City were studied.The results showed that with the increase of GDP per capita,the changing curves of industrial wastewater and industrial soot in Binzhou City were inverted-U-shaped,and the emission of industrial wastewater reduced after peaking.However,the production of industrial solid waste and the emission of industrial waste gas did not show a downward trend with economic growth,and still increased year by year.The coordination degree of economic development and ecological environment protection in Binzhou City was moderately lagged.By the adjustment of industrial structure,environmental protection and control should be increased,and relevant regulations should be formulated to control pollutant emissions,thereby achieving sustainable development and coordinated development of regional ecology and environment.

The coordinated development of China’s inland water transport

The coordinated development is the core of sustainable development and the hot issue of international research.Inland water transport(IWT) is an important part of the water resources exploiting system and comprehensive transport system under socio-economic context of river basin,and also the country's sustainable development priorities to achieve resource-conserving and environment-friendly strategy.Based on the coordinated development content,the paper combined Germany's successful development experience,explored the elements and problem of the coordinated development of IWT system of China's national economic strategy and basin economy,water resourse system,comprehensive transport system,and system itself,and their countermeasures and suggestions,in order to facilitate rapid and coordinated development of China's inland water transport.

The Coupling Coordination Evolution Research of Economy - Ecology - Society System in Xinjiang：Based on the Interaction Perspective of Water Resources

Under the water resources perspective,coupling coordination of economy-ecology-society system in Xinjiang was taken as the research object. By building the coupling evaluation index system of the water resources-economy-ecology-society system,quantitative evaluation and analysis of the coupling coordination of the water resources-economy-ecology-society system from 2001 to 2014 were conducted. The results showed that benefit indexes of economic system and social system grew rapidly,while benefit indexes of water resources system and ecosystem fluctuated smoothly from 2001 to 2014; coupling state of the whole system was at rival stage,and coupling coordination was reluctant coordination type,and the coupling index was slightly higher than the coupling coordination index. Moreover,it showed that the more the coupling systems,the lower indices of coupling and the coupling coordination.

Measuring coordination of economy-society and resource-environment based on major function oriented zoning: a case study of Pearl River Delta

A reasonable coordination degree assessment of the social-economic development level and the resource-environment quality level are essential to identify the key factors of the development, and vital to determine the appropriate development strategy and achieve sustainable development. The major function oriented zoning plays a role in spatial coordination mainly by spatial guidance and restriction, so, the proposal of major function oriented zoning gives a new train of thought to generate a coordination evaluation of economy-society and the resource-environment system. From the view of major function oriented zoning that considers resource environmental bearing capacity, existing development density and development potential, this paper constructs an index system and model of coordination evaluation with a case study on Pearl River Delta. The results have shown: (1) It can reveal the conflicts of economic-social development and resource-environment quality to accurately consider resource environmental bearing capacity, existing development density and development potential; (2) The coordination degree between social-economy system and resource-environment system in Pearl River Delta continued to decline in the past 10 years. The spatial extent of coordination evolves from coordination in the whole Pearl River Delta to imbalance in the core areas, and at present, the uncoordinated areas have already diffused from core areas to the outlying regions; (3) Most regions of the Pearl River Delta are in uncoordinated condition when considering the coordination degree of economic-social development and resource-environment quality, not as coordinated as some scholars considered.

Evaluation and countermeasures for coordinated development in the active export-oriented region: a case study on Zhejiang, China

Taking a typical active export-oriented region Zhejiang as an example, this paper tries to evaluate its Coordinated Development Degree (CDD) form 1997, focusing on the characteristics of its export-oriented economy and regional environment. The results show that Zhejiang's CDD has kept increasing steadily after its slight drop in 1998. Finally, four measurements are proposed to promote sustainable development, including increasing and equalizing region's environmental investment, changing pollution-intensive export structure to avoid restricting the whole industrial structure, restricting simple spatial translocation of high-material consumption, high-energy consumption and high-pollution industries, etc.

Developing remanufacturing engineering,constructing cycle economy and building saving-oriented society

In the course of creating immense wealth, manufacturing industry has excessively consumed the resources and energy in the earth, and seriously polluted the environment. To take progress as the sustainable development way, save resource and improve environment, our nation has been advocating to construct the cycle economy and saving-oriented society. Taking the remanufacturing engineering as the representative, the “4R” rule (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Remanufacture) is the important measure to get the goal. Remanufacturing engineering is the industrialization of high-tech maintenance of the waste and worn productions, and is one of the most active factors in “4R”. The development of high and new technology takes the important effect to promote the remanufacturing engineering.

数字经济、产业结构与OFDI协调发展路径研究——以黄河流域九省(区)为例

党的二十大报告提出,未来围绕互联网产生的相关数字经济发展具有巨大发展潜力,对促进我国产业结构调整以及推动我国OFDI协调发展发挥重要作用。在此背景下,研究数字经济、产业结构与OFDI协调发展路径具有重要的现实意义。本文通过文献收集、理论分析、数据对比等研究方法,从黄河流域九省(区)经济发展特征以及区域差异性入手,分析当前黄河流域九省(区)数字经济、产业结构与OFDI协调发展所面临的困境。研究认为数字经济可以通过降低交易成本、催生OFDI新模式,重塑全球价值链新动力、缓解企业融资压力等作用直接影响OFDI,并通过促进产业结构调整进而推动OFDI的协调发展。基于此,提出促进黄河流域数字经济、产业结构与OFDI协调发展的政策建议。

Knowledge Economy-The Sustainable Development Economy

Reviewing evolution of natural resources utilization mode in different economic formations, the paper elaboratesthe meanings of knowledge economy, and points out that the cause of unsustainable development is the acute contradictionbetween the law of ecosystem and the law of economy. It also points out that the essence of sustainable development is theharmonious relation between economy and the ecosystem. Therefore, the resources allocation should be considered from theaspect of the market demand and the aspect of the supply of the ecosystem. That is to say, firstly, the scale and pace of economygrowth must be adapted to the supply capability of the ecosystem under the current technology. Secondly, based on the supplyability of the ecosystem, we should make it clear how to make limited resources allocation attains equilibrium between marketsupply and demand. The paper clarifies that in the mode of knowledge economy; we may transform the way of economy growth,form optimum economy structure, change the base of resource supply, strengthen the supply capability of ecosystem, expandthe production-possibility frontier, and finally accomplish the eco-economy coordinated development through the innovationof institution and technology. The essence of sustainable development and the sustainable characteristics of knowledgeeconomy that were discussed above determine that knowledge economy is an economy of sustainable development.

Evaluation of harmonious development for economy-environment system in coastal cities: a case study of Tianjin Municipality

With the aim of the harmonious development of economy-environment system in coastal cities in China, an index system used to evaluate the economy-environment system is built up in this paper, which includes four aspects: economy, environment, resources, and ocean industry. Based on the analysis on present condition and future trends of economic development in Tianjin and the quantification of various evaluation indices, the author applies integrated index valuation model to valuate the harmonious development of economy-environment of Tianjin. The results show that the coordinated degree of economy-environment would drop down in the future, from 0.95(superior level of harmonious development) in 2000 to 0.59(inferior level of harmonious development) in 2015, under the circumstance of the current economic development mode. The level of comprehensive development of Tianjin also presents to descend. Based on the analyzing of status and future trends of environment-economy coordinated development, the paper puts forward the countermea- sures such as industry structure adjustment, increasing the level of environmental protection investment, strengthening the enforcement of environmental policies to improve the coordinated development of environment-economy in Tianjin municipality.

The Russian‐Ukrainian armed conflict will push back the sustainable development goals

The Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict is a dramatic world event. Apart from the loss of life, the present conflicthas tremendous impacts on the environment, economy, and society. The conflict provoked a ripple of events withimplications at the global level, especially in energy and food. The escalation of this conflict is imposing severethreats to achieving the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) not only to the countries di-rectly involved in the conflict but also to other countries, especially the developing ones that are more vulnerableto the economic crisis. In this editorial, we assessed the impacts of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on BiophysicalSDGs, Social SDGs, Economic SDGs and Partnership for the Goals SDG that consider all the previous dimensions.The Russian-Ukrainian conflict’s impact on the SDGs is variable. Biodiversity SDGs are mainly affected at theregional level (Russia, Ukraine, surrounding and European Union countries). Society SDGs are affected at local(e.g., SDG3 good health and wellbeing;SDG4 quality education) and global (e.g., SDG2 zero hunger) levels. Fi-nally, the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict has world-level implications for the economic SDGs. Nevertheless,the ongoing conflict’s impacts are not entirely understood, and several uncertainties exist. Peace is needed toachieve the UN’s SDGs in 2030.

Coordinated development efficiency between cultivated land spatial morphology and agricultural economy in underdeveloped areas in China:Evidence from western Hubei province

Suitable spatial morphology of cultivated land is a basic requirement for sustaining agricultural economic development in mountainous areas.Coordinated development efficiency of cultivated land spatial morphology and agricultural economy(CECA)is of great practical significance to measure the efficiency of cultivated land use,and thereby promote regional rural revitalization.However,few studies to date have focused on coordinated development efficiency between cultivated land use and agricultural economy in mountainous areas from the perspective of cultivated land spatial morphology.Thus,the present study explores CECA with this focus using the data envelopment analysis method,and analyzes the key influencing factors via a geographical detector model in 16 counties in western Hubei province.The results show the following:(1)CECA exhibits significant spatial heterogeneity that is high in the south of the study area and low in the north;(2)scale efficiency is the primary limiting factor for CECA;(3)the insufficient output of cultivated land use mainly restricts CECA in the south of the study area,while individual county in the north suffered from input redundancy and insufficient output;and(4)population density in the southern region has the most significant effect on CECA,and gross domestic product has the greatest impact in the northern region.The results contribute to the derivation of specific measures by which to promote cultivated land use efficiency and sustainable development of the social economy.
