This metal plays an important role in the central nervous system, where it is associated with glutamatergic signaling, and it is widely involved in inflammatory processes. Thus, diseases involving copper(Ⅱ) dyshomeostasis often have neurological symptoms, as exemplified by Alzheimer's and other diseases(such as Parkinson's and Wilson's diseases). Moreover, imbalanced copper ion concentrations have also been associated with diabetes and certain types of cancer, including glioma. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive overview of recent results that show the importance of these metal ions in several pathologies, mainly Alzheimer's disease, through the lens of the development and use of copper chelators as research compounds and potential therapeutics if included in multi-target hybrid drugs. Seeing how copper homeostasis is important for the well-being of animals as well as humans, we shortly describe the state of the art regarding the effects of copper and its chelators in agriculture, livestock rearing, and aquaculture, as ingredients for the formulation of feed supplements as well as to prevent the effects of pollution on animal productions.展开更多

Both compounds were catalytically active and stable for the epoxidation of cyclooctene, 1-octene, and styrene with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BuOOH) as oxidant. The excellent catalytic performance was attributed to the presence of stable coordination bonds between the molybdenum oxide and copper complex, which resulted in the formation of easily accessible Mo species with high electropositivity. In addition, the copper complex also acted as an active site for the activation of t-BuOOH, thus im- proving these copper complex-modified polyoxometalates.展开更多

The influence of various operating parameters such temperature and adsorbent dosage on the adsorption isotherms of modified sawdust was investigated. Thermodynamic parameters, namely Gibbs free energy (△GΘ), enthalpy (△HΘ) and entropy (△SΘ) of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) adsorption process were calculated, showing that the adsorption is a spontaneous and exothermic process. The modified extended Langmuir equation approaches provide excellent prediction of the binary adsorption. In single and binary systems, the overall adsorption data were best described by the pseudo-second order kinetic model, then the calculated values of activation energy of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) adsorption process were 59.12 and 55.92 kJ/mol respectively. The results show that the affinity of each metal ion onto the modified sawdust surface is influenced by the presence of the other one.展开更多

Methods Wistar rats were divided into four groups, including control group, 10 nmol, 50 nmol and 200 nmol copper injected into left substantia nigra (SN) groups. Seven days after the intranigral injection of copper, dopamine (DA) contents in the striatum (Str) were measured by high performance lipid chromotophotography (HPLC); the density of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) positive axons in the Str was measured by TH staining method; TH and Caspase-3 mRNA expression in the SN were measured by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. We detected the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the lesioned midbrain of rats using biochemical methods. Results DA and its metabolites contents had no significant difference between control group and low dose (10 nmol) copper group. But from 50 nmol copper group, DA contents in the lesioned sides were reduced with the increase in the copper doses injected, showing a significant linear correlation (F = 34.16, P 〈 0.01). In the 50 nmol copper group, TH positive axons in the Str decreased compared with those of the control and unlesioned sides (F = 121.9, P 〈 0.01). In the 50 nmol copper group, TH mRNA expression decreased (t =3.12, P 〈 0.01) while Caspase-3 mRNA expression increased (t =8.96, P 〈 0.01) in the SN compared with the control. SOD activity decreased in the midbmin of rots treated with 50 nmol copper compared with that of the control (t = 2.33, P〈0.01). Conclusion Copper could induce damage of dopaminergic neurons in the SN of rats through destroying antioxidant defenses and promoting apoptosis.展开更多

The optimization of the electroless copper bath was evaluated through the combination of process parameters like pH and temperature. The optimized values ofpH and temperature were found to be 12.5 and 60℃, respectively, which attributes to the bright maroon color of the coating with an increase in weight of 46%. The uncoated and coated powders were subjected to microstructural studies using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the phases were analyzed using X-my diffrction (XRD). An attempt was made to understand the growth mechanism of the coating. The diffusion-shrinkage autocatalytic model was suggested for copper growth on the molybdenum surface.展开更多

The electrochemical behavior of the electrolyte and the mechanism of deposition were investigated through cyclic voltammetry (CV), and the properties of deposits obtained were assessed by scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). A1 of 70μm in thickness and an A1-Cu alloy of 30μm in thickness with 8at% copper were deposited from the electrolyte. SEM images of the deposits indicate that the A1 deposit was smooth and uniform, whereas the Al-Cu deposit was nodular. The average crystalline size, as determined by XRD patterns, was found to be (30±5) and (29±5) nm, respectively, for A1 and A1-Cu alloys. Potentiodynamic polarization (Tafel plots) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) measurements showed that Al-Cu alloys are more corrosion resistant than Al.展开更多

The Mo-coated CNTs (Mo-CNTs) were added into copper powders to fabricate Mo-CNT/Cu composites by means of mechanical milling followed by spark plasma sintering. The Mo-CNTs were uniform dispersion in the Cu matrix when their contents were 2.5 vo1.%-7.5 vol.%, while some Mo-CNT clusters were clearly observed at additions of 10.0 vo1.%-15.0 vol.% Mo-CNTs in the mixture. The mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of the Mo-CNT/Cu composites were characterized, and the results showed that the tensile strength and hardness were 2.0 and 2.2 times higher than those of CNT-free specimens, respectively. Moreover, the Mo-CNT/Cu composites exhibited an enhanced thermal conductivity but inferior electrical conductivity compared with sintered pure Cu. The uncoated CNT/Cu composites were fabricated by the similar processes, and the measured tensile strength, hardness, thermal conductivity, and electrical conductivity of the CNT/Cu composites were lower than those of the Mo-CNT/Cu composites.展开更多

It is a giant porphyry copper mine in China, including 3 ore districts: Tongchang, Fujiawu and Zhushahong. Our analyses of Re in molybdenite indicate that the ore-forming material of the copper ore deposits in Dexing should be mainly mantle-derived. Our study fills in a gap in the study of formation time of the Dexing copper mine, and further proves that the copper ore deposits in the three ore districts should be formed simultaneously, about 170 Ma, belonging to the early Yanshan period, and that the formation time of the copper ore deposits should be consistent with the formation time of granodiorite porphyry in which the copper ore deposits are hosted. Promising areas for seeking porphyry copper ore deposits is predicated to be the west or southwest of Dexing.展开更多

The result shows the preferential order of the minerals bioleaching as djurleite〉bomite〉pyritic chalcopyrite〉covellite〉porphyry chalcopyfite. The residues were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is indicated that jarosite may not be responsible for hindered disso- lution. The elemental sulfur layer on the surface of pyritic chalcopyrite residues is cracked. The compact surface layer of porphyry chalcopy- rite may strongly hinder copper extraction. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) further confirms that the passivation layers of covellite, pyritic chalcopyrite, and porphyry chalcopyrite are copper-depleted sulphide Cu4S11, S8, and copper-rich iron-deficient polysulphide CtuFe2S9, resoectivelv. The ability of these oassivation layers was found as Cu4Fe2S9〉Cu4S11〉S8〉iarosite.展开更多

In recent years, with the increase in the open pit depth, the content of aluminosilicate minerals increased in plant feed and subsequently in flotation concentrate. It can motivate some problems, such as unwanted consumption of reagents, decreasing of the copper concentrate grade, increasing of Al2O3 and SiO2 in the copper concentrate, and needing a higher temperature in the smelting process. The evaluation of the composite samples related to the most critical working period of the plant shows that quartz, illite, biotite, chlorite, orthoclase, albeit, muscovite, and kaolinite are the major Al2O3 and SiO2 beating minerals that accompany chalcopyrite, chalcocite, and covellite minerals in the plant feed. The severe alteration to clay minerals was a general rule in all thin sections that were prepared from the plant feed. Sieve analysis of the flotation concentrate shows that Al2O3 and SiO2 bearing minerals in the flotation concentrate can be decreased by promoting the size reduction from 53 to 38 μm. Interlocking of the Al2O3 and SiO2 bearing minerals with chalcopyrite and chalcocite is the occurrence mechanism of silicate and aluminosilicate minerals in the flotation concentrate. The dispersed form of interlocking is predominant.展开更多

The main orebodies of the Dongguashan copper deposit, a typical diplogenetic stratified deposit among many polymetallic ore deposits in China, are hosted by strata between Upper Devonian sandstone and Carboniferous limestone, and its mineralization was genetically related to the Qingshanjiao intrusive. The Rb-Sr isotopic isochron of the Qingshanjiao intrusive yields an age of about 136.5±1.4 Ma. The ore-forming fluid reflected by the inclusion fluid in quartz veins is characterized by high temperature and high salinity, and its age was also determined by Rb -Sr isotope dating as 134±11 Ma. Oxygen and hydrogen isotope composition data suggest that the ore-forming fluid was derived mainly from magmatism. By integrating these isotopic dating data, characteristics of fluid inclusions and the geology of the deposit, the mineralization of the Dongguashan copper deposit is divided into two stages. First, a stratiform sedimentary deposit or protore layer formed in the Late Devonian to the Early Carboniferous, while in the second stage the pre-existing protore was superimposed by hydrothermal fluid that was derived from the Yanshanian magmatic activities occurring around 135 Ma ago. This two-stage mineralization formed the Dongguashan statiform copper deposit. Associated “porphyry” mineralization found in the bottom of and in surrounding intrusive rocks of the orebodies might have occurred in the same period as a second-stage mineralization of this deposit.展开更多

CaCO3-rich marble cutting waste is a residual material produced by the cutting and polishing of marble stone. In this study, the feasibility of using the marble cutting waste as an acid-neutralizing agent to inhibit AMD and immobilize heavy metals from copper flotation tailings (sul- fide-beating wastes) was investigated. Continuous-stirring shake-flask tests were conducted for 40 d, and the pH value, sulfate content, and dissolved metal content of the leachate were analyzed every 10 d to determine the effectiveness of the marble cutting waste as an acid neu- tralizer. For comparison, CaCO3 was also used as a neutralizing agent. The average pH value of the leachate was 2.1 at the beginning of the experiment (t = 0). In the experiment employing the marble cutting waste, the pH value of the leachate changed from 6.5 to 7.8, and the sul- fate and iron concentrations decreased from 4558 to 838 mg/L and from 536 to 0.01 mg/L, respectively, after 40 d. The marble cutting waste also removed more than 80wt% of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn) from AMD generated by copper flotation tailings.展开更多

文摘Copper, one of the most prolific transition metals in the body,is required for normal brain physiological activity and allows various functions to work normally through its range of concentrations.Copper homeostasis is meticulously maintained through a complex network of copper-dependent proteins, including copper transporters(CTR1 and CTR2),the two copper ion transporters the Cu-transporting ATPase 1(ATP7A)and Cu-transporting beta(ATP7B),and the three copper chaperones ATOX1,CCS,and COX17.Disruptions in copper homeostasis can lead to either the deficiency or accumulation of copper in brain tissue.Emerging evidence suggests that abnormal copper metabolism or copper binding to various proteins, including ceruloplasmin and metallothionein,is involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders. However, the exact mechanisms underlying these processes are not known.Copper is a potent oxidant that increases reactive oxygen species production and promotes oxidative stress.Elevated reactive oxygen species levels may further compromise mitochondrial integrity and cause mitochondrial dysfunction.Reactive oxygen species serve as key signaling molecules in copper-induced neuroinflammation, with elevated levels activating several critical inflammatory pathways.Additionally, copper can bind aberrantly to several neuronal proteins, including alphasynuclein, tau, superoxide dismutase 1,and huntingtin, thereby inducing neurotoxicity and ultimately cell death. This study focuses on the latest literature evaluating the role of copper in neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on copper-containing metalloenzymes and copper-binding proteins in the regulation of copper homeostasis and their involvement in neurodegenerative disease pathogenesis.By synthesizing the current findings on the functions of copper in oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and protein misfolding,we aim to elucidate the mechanisms by which copper contributes to a wide range of hereditary and neuronal disorders, such as Wilson's disease,Menkes'disease,Alzheimer's disease,Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,Huntington's disease, and multiple sclerosis.Potential clinically significant therapeutic targets, including superoxide dismutase 1,D-penicillamine,and 5,7-dichloro-2-[(dimethylamino)methyl]-8-hydroxyquinoline,along with their associated therapeutic agents, are further discussed.Ultimately,we collate evidence that copper homeostasis may function in the underlying etiology of several neurodegenerative diseases and offer novel insights into the potential prevention and treatment of these diseases based on copper homeostasis.
文摘The role of copper element has been an increasingly relevant topic in recent years in the fields of human and animal health, for both the study of new drugs and innovative food and feed supplements. Seeing how copper homeostasis is important for the well-being of animals as well as humans, we shortly describe the state of the art regarding the effects of copper and its chelators in agriculture, livestock rearing, and aquaculture, as ingredients for the formulation of feed supplements as well as to prevent the effects of pollution on animal productions.
文摘Copper is a transition metal and an essential element for the organism,as alterations in its homeostasis leading to metal accumulation or deficiency have pathological effects in several organs, including the central nervous system.Central copper dysregulations have been evidenced in two genetic disorders characterized by mutations in the copper-ATPases ATP7A and ATP7B,Menkes disease and Wilson’s disease, respectively, and also in multifactorial neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis. This review summarizes current knowledge about the role of copper in central nervous system physiology and pathology, reports about unbalances in copper levels and/or distribution under disease, describes relevant animal models for human disorders where copper metabolism genes are dysregulated, and discusses relevant therapeutic approaches modulating copper availability.Overall, alterations in copper metabolism may contribute to the etiology of central nervous system disorders and represent relevant therapeutic targets to restore tissue homeostasis.

文摘The catalytic epoxidation of olefin was investigated on two copper complex-modified molybdenum oxides with a 3D supramolecular structure, [Cu(bipy)]4[Mo15O47].2H2O (1) and [Cu1(bix)][(Cu1bix) (δ-MoVl8O26)0.5] (2) (bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine, bix = 1,4-bis(imidazole-1-ylmethyl)benzene). In addition, the copper complex also acted as an active site for the activation of t-BuOOH, thus im- proving these copper complex-modified polyoxometalates.

文摘Sawdust xanthate modified with ethanediamine was used for the removal of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) from aqueous solution. The results show that the affinity of each metal ion onto the modified sawdust surface is influenced by the presence of the other one.
文摘Objective To study the effects of intranigral injection of different doses of CuSO45H2O on dopaminergic neuron in the nigrostriatal system of rats. Conclusion Copper could induce damage of dopaminergic neurons in the SN of rats through destroying antioxidant defenses and promoting apoptosis.
文摘Molybdenum powders with a diameter of approximately 3 μn were coated with copper using the electroless plating technique in the pH 12.5-13 and temperature range of 55-75℃. The diffusion-shrinkage autocatalytic model was suggested for copper growth on the molybdenum surface.

文摘The electrodeposition of A1 and A1-Cu binary alloys on to gold substrates from a room temperature ionic liquid electrolyte containing A1C13-EtaNHC1 was studied. Potentiodynamic polarization (Tafel plots) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) measurements showed that Al-Cu alloys are more corrosion resistant than Al.

文摘Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were coated by a molybdenum layer using carbonyl thermal decomposition process with a precursor of molybdenum hexacarbonyl. The uncoated CNT/Cu composites were fabricated by the similar processes, and the measured tensile strength, hardness, thermal conductivity, and electrical conductivity of the CNT/Cu composites were lower than those of the Mo-CNT/Cu composites.

文摘The Dexing porphyry copper ore mine is located in the Qin-Hang metallogenic belt between the Yangtze block and the Cathaysia block. Promising areas for seeking porphyry copper ore deposits is predicated to be the west or southwest of Dexing.
文摘The bioleaching of copper sulphide minerals was investigated by using A. ferrooxidans ATF6. The ability of these oassivation layers was found as Cu4Fe2S9〉Cu4S11〉S8〉iarosite.
文摘The Sarcheshmeh copper flotation circuit is producing 5× 10^4 t copper concentrate per month with an averaging grade of 28% Cu in rougher, cleaner and recleaner stages. The dispersed form of interlocking is predominant.

文摘An important diplogenetic mineralization event superimposed on pre-existing exhalation sediments in the Tongling area, Anhui province, was triggered by widespread granitic magmatism along the northeastern margin of the Yangtze Block during 140–135 Ma under extensional tectonic circumstances following the collision between the North China and Yangtze blocks. Associated “porphyry” mineralization found in the bottom of and in surrounding intrusive rocks of the orebodies might have occurred in the same period as a second-stage mineralization of this deposit.
文摘The chemiluminescence (CL) reaction between lucigenin (Lu) and molybdenum (III) produced by a Jones reductor was investigated using a flow injection system. On the basis of this, a novel method for the determination of trace amount of molybdenum has been established. The emission intensity was linear with molybdenum concentration in the range of 0.1-1000 ng/mL; the detection limit was 0.02 ng/mL molybdenum; the relative standard deviation was less than 2% for the determination of 0.1 ng/mL molybdenum (n=11). The method has been applied successfully to the analysis of trace molybdenum in water and steel samples.
文摘The Ardestan-Kahang area is located in Urmieh-Dokhtar Magmatic Arc. This area is situated in Ardestan, Kouhpayeh, Kajan and Zefreh in 1:100,000 geological maps. In order to extract mineralization zones related to copper mineralization and accessories elements, and also identify Argillic, Prophylitic, Sericitic and Siliceous alteration with major and minor lineaments, various kinds of algorithms, band ratio and personal interpolation have been utilized. The applied methods for extracting alteration consist of LS-Fit (Least Square Fit), Matched Filtering (MF), Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) and Spectral Feature Fitting (SFF), band ratio and visual interpretation. Comparing different outputs of utilized algorithms illustrates that the best algorithm for argillc alteration extraction are Matched Filtering (MF) and Spectral Feature Fitting (SFF), with visual interpretation, and for argillic alterations the visual interpretation with RGB: 468 that has seen pink-red color. For prophylitic alterations the utilized algorithms are Matched Filtering (MF). Lineaments have extracted with visual interpretation on satellite images and it is revealed that in areas where the fracture density is greater, conditions are more suitable for copper mineralization.
文摘Acid mine drainage (AMD) with high concentrations of sulfates and metals is generated by the oxidation of sulfide beating wastes. The marble cutting waste also removed more than 80wt% of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn) from AMD generated by copper flotation tailings.
