Application of Learning Style Theory in an English-teaching Activity

Language teaching is demanding.The focus of language teachers nowadays has been extended to a broader area.In the TESOL context,the findings and research of learning style have raised the attention of language teachers,who have to take the responsibility to study how to improve the teaching results according to different learners.This essay attempts to demonstrate a language-teaching activity in a typical English class and discuss the application of learning style theory in it so as to improve the practical English teaching in China.

Teaching for Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences: a Personal Reflection

The paper reviewed what the literature has said about learning styles and multiple intelligences. By practicing a personal reflection on learning styles and multiple intelligences, the paper indicated that teachers need make paradigm shift respecting the fact that every student is gifted and can be taught with the same contents, approaches and assessment. Teaching for diversity should be implemented.

Rethinking on Matching Teachers' Teaching Styles with Students' Learning Styles in ESL/EFL Classrooms

Teaching styles and learning styles play important parts in ESL/EFL classrooms. However, is it necessary for language teachers to match their teaching styles with their students' learning styles?Is it feasible for the teachers to match their teaching styles to every individual student's learning styles?Because of the incompatible learning and teaching styles, suggestions on how to deal with the difficulties in the matching of these two styles will be given.

Research on Teaching Method of Packaging Design Course Based on Chinese Style

The teaching of Packaging Design started late in China,but develops fast.After experiencing the changes of economy,politics and culture,it has entered a new era of self-publicity.The Chinese style has come out quietly with a strong momentum.The contents of packaging design in the new era pay more attention to the spiritual level,and become a bridge between the society and people,forming an aesthetics concept with the spirit of the Chinese people.Based on the application of Chinese style in the course of Packaging Design,this paper discusses the characteristics of Packaging Design with Chinese style and the problems of traditional Packaging Design,and puts forward how to better apply Chinese elements in Packaging Design.

Teachers’Characteristics and Teaching Styles as Determinants of Students’Achievement in Senior Secondary Schools Civics and English Language in Osun State,Nigeria

The study examined the status of senior secondary schools’students’achievement in Civic Education and English Language in Osun State.It also investigated the Civic Education and English Language teachers’characteristics in the state and determined the teaching styles of Civic Education and English Language teachers in the study areas and finally assessed the influence of teachers’characteristics and teaching styles on students’achievement in secondary schools Civic Education and English Language.The study adopted Discriminant Analysis.The study sample consisted of 600 senior secondary school students,30 Civics teachers,and 30 English Language teachers that were selected using multi-stage sampling procedure.Four instruments were constructed and validated before use.Three research questions were asked and answered while one hypothesis was tested and verified.The results among others showed that more than 50%of the students that participated in the study had high status of achievement in Civic Education while more than 40%of English Language students that participated in the study had low status of achievement.The study also showed that teachers’characteristics pertinent to both Civic Education teachers and English Language teachers were,effective discipline skills(Civics,M=1.20,SD=0.407;English,M=1.40,SD=0.498)and good communication with parents(Civics,M=1.43,SD=0.504;English,M=1.40,SD=0.498).In addition,there was significant influence of teachers’characteristics and teaching styles on students’achievement in Civics and English Language in senior secondary schools(X^2(2)=16.37,p<0.05).The study concluded that teachers’characteristics and teaching styles are major determinants of students’achievement in Civic Education and English Language.

Effective combination of learning styles and college English teaching

Students preferentially take in and process information in different ways, and teaching methods also should vary accordingly. How much a student can learn is also determined by the compatibility of the student＇s learning styles and the teacher＇s teaching styles. It is important for teachers to know their learners＇ preferred learning styles because this knowledge will help teachers to plan their lessons to match or adapt their teaching and to provide the most appropriate activities to suit a particular learner group.

On Embedding Literary Stylistic Awareness in English Grammar Teaching

Art students, as a whole, have a variety of learning style of sensory receivers. The Variety of learning styles requires the variety of teaching strategies. Materials Development for Adult Learners in Teaching Vocabulary

Considering the special needs and the learning styles of their learners, foreign language teachers should use the most effective methods or approaches which are appropriate for their teaching strategies. Redundant or a diverse range of teaching techniques are not meant to use in the process of their learners＇ acquiring new vocabulary items; instead, the most effective and to the point teaching techniques in terms of each language skill should be employed. Efficiency of language learners in terms of their command of the vocabulary can be assessed through their understanding any reading or listening context and managing to be productive in speaking or writing procedures in language acquisition process. This efficiency has been identified as having a language passport in terms of the proficiency level of the learners within the CEFR （Common European Framework of Reference） for Languages by all EU countries in recent years. Foreign language teachers should try very hard to supply their learners with the required qualifications in every language skill so that they can have a linguistic identity both in their own societies and inter-cultural or multi-cultural contexts. Within this framework, foreign language teachers will hopefully make use of any suggested approach presented in this study so as to widen their learners＇ horizons in language acquisition process.

Ou Rhetoric Metaphor in English Teaching
