A Research of the Course “Taishan Cultural Communication with the World” under Blended Learning Model and Outcome-Based Education Concept

The course “Taishan Cultural Communication with the World” has been online and offline teaching and learning for two terms based on the theoretical ideas: Blended Learning and Outcome-Based Education. This paper uses the data from one semester to state how to carry out the program and the good results. At the same time disadvantages are also the points that should be taken into consideration. From the teaching and learning practice, students have benefited from the online videos, complementary materials and discussions;they need to be guided as well, especially the guidance offline to make up. Furthermore, the balance of time online and offline is a great challenge.

With the rapid rise of China’s economy and the deployment of the Belt and Road Initiative,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),one of the main components of Chinese culture,has become an important aspect of foreign exchange.Therefore,recent research has focused on how to effectively spread TCM culture internationally and improve TCM acceptance.Australia is currently a representative region with decent TCM development.Taking TCM development in Australia as a starting point,this article analyzes the challenges in TCM development,discusses countermeasures to address these issues,and provides recommendations for improving the international development and dissemination of TCM.

A Post-colonialism Approach to Intentional Mistranslation-Comparative Study of Two English Versions of Shuo Ren

Mistranslation has always been received with negative reactions among the translation community for a long time.Post-colonial translation theory forms an intersection with translatology and brings translation studies from linguistics to the hidden factors such as politics,cultures and aesthetics that influence the formation of translations.From the perspective of post-colonial translation theory,this article makes comparisons with intentional mistranslation among the two English versions of Shuo Ren,and analyzes the causes that affect the intentional mistranslation of different translators.In conclusion,translators in strong cultures may misuse intentional mistranslation to“dump”their own culture,political views,or religious beliefs,so as to promote cultural aggression against the colonized or former colonial countries.In addition,domestic translators should adopt appropriate intentional mistranslation to ensure more acceptance and spreading of Chinese culture in the world.

The East Asian Cultural Sphere of Time in Japanese Music Books

Ancient Japanese music books have been quite effective in preserving the way the Chinese culture of time evolved dynamically abroad.Studying the relationship of music and dance with the times and festivals revealed in Japanese music books can help restore the context of the rituals and customs of music lost in its Chinese homeland.Japanese Gagaku has succeeded in passing down the seasonal quality of ancient Chinese banquet music which echoed the cycle of times,seasons and phenology and produced a seasonal regularity under which the music corresponded to the season.Some more symbolic Chinese music and dance were selected as the standard music for festivals such as the Double Third Festival,the Double Seventh Festival,and the Dragon Boat Festival.The many aspects of the Chinese culture of time that were accepted by Japan were threedimensional:they included not only the calendar,solar terms,festivals,and other points of time and knowledge of the seasons,but also cultural customs such as sacrificial ceremonies,music and dance,literary narratives,meat and drink,and sports and games.The culture of time that originated from the Han and Tang dynasties not only sustains East Asian countries'identification with natural laws and time,but also shapes their societies'shared aesthetic perception of nature,time,and life.

The Establishment and Spread of Acupuncture Model Based on Different Cultures

The Belt and Road(B and R)brings a historic opportunity for the Chinese medicine culture communication,especially the traditional acupuncture.The high rate of acupuncture cognitive barriers is one of the important factors among patients and service providers in“B and R”countries.The proposed project,to be conducted in“B and R”countries,has the following primary aims:(1)to assess acupuncture knowledge,attitudes,and perceptions;(2)to assess acupuncture knowledge,attitudes,and perceptions among clinic staff;and(3)to adapt,develop,and deliver acupuncture education programs for patients and clinic staff.The secondary aims are as follows:(4)to explore the barriers that impact acupuncture receiving intervention and medical service and(5)to explore ways to help service providers to provide acupuncture services to patients in acupuncture clinics based on different cultures.Through an iterative process of discussion and revision,we plan to develop a comprehensive acupuncture intervention program that is appropriate for the“B and R”countries setting and that can be tested for its effectiveness in a series of controlled trials in future research.
