However, the traditional cantilever valve easily induces stress concentration which impacts the reliability of pumps. Therefore, a cymbal-shaped slotted check valve is proposed to be applied in a piezoelectric pump in order to reduce the stress concentration of the valve and thus improve the reliability of the piezoelectric pump. The structure and working principle of the piezoelectric pump are analyzed; the stress analysis of the cymbal-shaped slotted valve diaphragm is conducted. In addition, finite element software is employed to analyze the difference of the Von-Mises stress between the cymbal-shaped slotted diaphragm and the slotted flat diaphragm. The simulation results show that, the Von-Mises stress of cymbal-shaped slotted diaphragm is smaller than that of the slotted flat one. Furthermore, the cymbal-shaped slotted valve piezoelectric pump is also fabricated, and flow rate experiment is performed. The experimental results indicate that the flow rate of piezoelectric pump working in low frequencies(0 Hz < f< 50 Hz) is larger than that working in high frequencies(200 Hz < f< 2000 Hz). When driven at voltage of 160 V and frequency of 5 Hz, the pump reaches its maximum flow rate of 6.6 g/min. The experimental results validate the feasibility of the cymbal-shaped slotted check valve. This research can effectively solve the problem of stress concentration of valve piezoelectric pumps and is helpful for improving the reliability of them.展开更多

A term is added to account for the effect of airflow through the slots on the air damping of the plate. The end effect of the airflow in the slots is also treated by substituting an effective channel length for the geometric channel length (i. e. the thickness of the plate)..The damping pressure distribution, damping force, and damping force coefficient of the slotted plates can be found by solving the equation under appropriate boundary conditions. With restrictions on the thickness and the lateral dimensions of the slotted plate removed, the equation provides a useful tool for analysing the squeeze-film air damping effect of slotted plates with finite thickness and finite lateral dimensions. For a typical slotted plate structure, the damping force coefficient obtained by this equation agrees well with that generated by ANSYS.展开更多

The wave–structure interaction and flow behavior of this type of breakwater arrangement are complicated and must be analyzed before breakwaters can be appropriately designed. To study the hydrodynamic breakwater performance, we developed a mathematical model based on the eigenfunction expansion method and a least squares technique for predicting wave interaction with three rows of vertical slotted wall breakwaters. We theoretically examined the wave transmission, reflection, energy loss, wave runup, and wave force under normal regular waves. Comparisons with experimental measurements show that the mathematical model results adequately reproduce most of the important features. The results of this investigation provide a better understanding of the hydrodynamic performance of triple-row vertical slotted wall breakwaters.展开更多

In this paper, the effects of currents on the wave scattering by slotted breakwaters are investigated by using a simple model. The model is based on a long wave approximation. The effects of wave height, barrier geometry and current strength on the reflection and transmission coefficients are examined by the model. The model results are compared with recent experimental data. It is found that both the wave-following and wave-opposing currents can increase the reflection coefficient and reduce the transmission coefficient. The model can be used to study the interaction between long waves and slotted breakwaters in coastal waters.展开更多

In this paper, we experimently investigated the behaviour of wave transmission and reflection coefficients of double slotted barriers in the presence of a steady opposing current. The experimental results show that opposing currents have only minor effects on wave reflection, but can significantly reduce the wave transmission through double slotted barriers. The experimental results suggest that coastal currents should be taken into consideration for an economical design of slotted breakwaters.展开更多

Conditions for the formation and extinction of electron beams were experimentally studied in discharges in helium at pressures of 1-100 Torr. For single-phase flow measurement, its flow coefficient is insensitive to the upstream velocity profile. For two phase flow measurement, various characteristics of its differential pressure (DP) are stable and closely correlated with the mass flow rate of gas and liquid. The complex relationships between the signal features and the two-phase flow rate are established through the use of a back propagation (BP) neural network. Experiments were carried out in the horizontal tubes with 50ram inner diameter, ooerated with water flow rate in the range of 0.2m^3·h^-1 to 4m3·h^-1, gas flow rate in the range of 100m^3·h^-1 to 1000m^3·h^-1, and pressure at 400kPa and 850kPa respectively, where the temperature is ambient temperature. This paper outlines a multiband antenna design based on fractal concepts. Fractal antennas show multiband behavior due to self-similarity in their structure. The plus shaped fractal antenna has been designed on a substrate of dielectric constant €r = 4.4 and thickness 1.6mm. The proposed antenna is characterized by a compact size and it is microstrip feed fractal patch of order 1/3. It is observed that the antenna is radiating at multiple resonant frequencies. The resonant frequency is reduced from 2.2 GHz to 900 MHz after I & II iterations respectively. Thus considerable size reduction of 81.77% & overall bandwidth of 12.92% are achieved. The proposed antenna is simulated using the method of moment based commercial software (IE3D) and it is found that simulated results are in good agreement with the experimental results.展开更多

Analyses given of the isochromatic fringe pattern surrounding the hole provides the SCF conveniently. The model material is calibrated from the known solution to the stress raiser arising from a small circular hole in a plate placed under biaxial tension-compression. These results also compare well with a plane stress FE analysis. Consequently, photo-elasticity has enabled SCF’s to be determined experimentally for a biaxial stress ratio, nominally equal to –4, in plates containing a long, thin slot arranged to be in alignment with each stress axis. The two, principal stresses lying along axes of symmetry in the region surrounding the notch are separated within each isochromatic fringe by the Kuske method [1]. FE provides a comparable full-field view in which contours of maximum shear stress may be identified with the isochromatic fringe pattern directly. The principal stress distributions referred to the plate axes show their maximum concentrations at the notch boundary. Here up to a fourfold magnification occurs in the greater of the two nominal stresses under loads applied to the plate edges. Thus, it is of importance to establish the manner in which the tangential stress is distributed around the slot boundary. Conveniently, it is shown how this distribution is also revealed from an isochro-matic fringe pattern, within which lie the points of maximum tension and maximum compression.展开更多

We developed a mathematical model based on an eigenfunction expansion method and a least squares technique for Stokes second-order waves. The numerical results obtained for limiting cases of double-row and triple-row walls are in good agreement with results of previous studies and experimental results. Comparisons with experimental measurements of the reflection, transmission, and dissipation coefficients (CR, Cr, and CE) for double-row walls show that the proposed mathematical model adequately reproduces most of the important features. We found that for double-row walls, the CR increases with increasing wave number, kd, and with a decreasing permeable wall part, din. The Cr follows the opposite trend. The CE slowly increases with an increasing kd for lower kd values, reaches a maximum, and then decreases again. In addition, an increasing porosity of dm would significantly decrease the CR while increasing the Cr. At lower values of kd, a decreasing porosity increases the CE, but for high values of kd, a decreasing porosity reduces the Ce. The numerical results indicate that, for triple-row walls, the effect of the arrangement of the chamber widths on hydrodynamic characteristics is not significant, except when kd〈0.5 Double-row slotted breakwaters may exhibit a good wave-absorbing performance at kd〉0.5, where by the horizontal wave force may be smaller than that of a single wall. On the other hand, the difference between double-row and triple-row vertical slotted breakwaters is marginal.展开更多

文摘This study investigates the effect of Reynolds number on the performance of Savonius wind turbine with slotted blades. The turbine performance investigation was based on the torque coefficient(Ct),power coefficient(Cp),and tip speed ratio(TSR).The experiment used two number of blade configuration, blade overlap ratio of 10%,12.5%and 20%,slotted position of 15%,20%,25%and 35%,and also slotted gap width of 3 mm,5 mm,7 mm,and 9 mm.The wind speed carried out in this experiment are 5.94 m/s,6.46 m/s,6.99 m/s,and 7.27 m/s,which are generated from the fan blowers as a wind source. The Savonius turbine with 10%overlap ratio shows the best performance. The highest Cp obtained is 0.138 by the variation of a 3 mm gap with Re of 1.44×10^(4) and 0.526 TSR.
文摘The photo-elastic method has been employed to determine stress concentration factor (SCF) for square plates containing holes and inclined slots when the plate edges are subjected to in-plane tension combined with compression. Conveniently, it is shown how this distribution is also revealed from an isochro-matic fringe pattern, within which lie the points of maximum tension and maximum compression.
文摘This study examines the hydrodynamic performance of multiple-row vertical slotted breakwaters. On the other hand, the difference between double-row and triple-row vertical slotted breakwaters is marginal.
