The increasing integration of distributed household photovoltaics(PVs)and electric vehicles(EVs)may further ag gravate voltage violations and unbalance of low-voltage distribu tion networks(LVDNs).DC distribution netw...The increasing integration of distributed household photovoltaics(PVs)and electric vehicles(EVs)may further ag gravate voltage violations and unbalance of low-voltage distribu tion networks(LVDNs).DC distribution networks can increase the accommodation of PVs and EVs and mitigate mutilple pow er quality problems by the flexible power regulation capability of voltage source converters.This paper proposes schemes to es tablish hybrid AC/DC LVDNs considering the conversion of the existing three-phase four-wire low-voltage AC systems to DC op eration.The characteristics and DC conversion constraints of typical LVDNs are analyzed.In addition,converter configura tions for typical LVDNs are proposed based on the three-phase four-wire characteristics and quantitative analysis of various DC configurations.Moreover,an optimal planning method of hybrid AC/DC LVDNs is proposed,which is modeled as a bi-level programming model considering the annual investments and three-phase unbalance.Simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed optimal planning method.Sim ulation results show that the proposed optimal planning method can increase the integration of PVs while simultaneously reduc ing issues related to voltage violation and unbalance.展开更多
This paper presents a programmable gain amplifier(PGA) circuit with a digitally assisted DC offset cancellation(DCOC) scheme for a direct conversion WLAN receiver.Implemented in a standard 0.13-μm CMOS process,th...This paper presents a programmable gain amplifier(PGA) circuit with a digitally assisted DC offset cancellation(DCOC) scheme for a direct conversion WLAN receiver.Implemented in a standard 0.13-μm CMOS process,the PGA occupies 0.39 mm2 die area and dissipates 6.5 mW power from a 1.2 V power supply.By using a single loop single digital-to-analog converter(DAC) mixed signal DC offset cancellation topology,the minimum DCOC settling time achieved is as short as 1.6μs with the PGA gain ranging from -8 to 54 dB in a 2 dB step.The DCOC loop utilizes a segmented DAC structure to lower the design complexity without sacrificing accuracy and a digital control algorithm to dynamically set the DCOC loop to fast or normal response mode,making the PGA circuit in compliance with the targeted WLAN specifications.展开更多
The modular multilevel converter(MMC)is a promising topology for medium-voltage drive applications due to its high-quality output waveforms,low device switching frequency and voltage rating.However,the large cell capa...The modular multilevel converter(MMC)is a promising topology for medium-voltage drive applications due to its high-quality output waveforms,low device switching frequency and voltage rating.However,the large cell capacitor voltage ripple is a severe challenge faced by MMC at low motor speeds.Recently,a hybrid MMC(HMMC)topology is proven to be a competitive solution because of its lower cell capacitor voltage ripple and not demonstrating a common-mode voltage(CMV)problem compared with other methods.However,the DC-link switch with IGBT limits HMMC from being applied in highvoltage applications.This paper uses a thyristor instead of IGBT as the DC-link switch.To ensure the thyristor can be softly turned on and safely turned off,a new control scheme is proposed.When using this proposed scheme,HMMC can also tolerate the failure of the thyristor being turned-off without shutting down the system,effectively improving its reliability.The cell capacitor voltage ripple analysis is presented considering the effects of the thyristor switching process.In addition,a decoupled energy balancing control is utilized to suppress the fluctuation of the DC current.Experimental results obtained from a 380 V/7.5 kW downscaled prototype validate the effectiveness of starting up a motor from the standby mode to rated speed applying full-torque.展开更多
