Using hydraulic power steering system of model EIMCO 922 load-haul-dump vehicle as a simulation example, the dynamic characteristics of hydraulic power steering system in load-haul-dump vehicle were simulated and discussed with SIMULINK software and hydraulic control theory. The results show that the dynamic characteristics of hydraulic power steering system are improved obviously by using bladder accumulator, the hydraulic power steering system of model EIMCO 922 load-haul-dump vehicle generates vibration at the initial stage under the normal steering condition of pulse input, and its static response time is 0.25 s shorter than that without bladder accumulator. Under the normal steering working condition, the capacity of steering accumulator for absorbing pulse is directly proportional to the cross section area of connecting pipeline, and inversely proportional to the length of connecting pipeline. At the same time, the precharge pressure of nitrogen in steering accumulator should be 60%80% of the rated minimum working pressure of hydraulic power steering system. Under the abnormal steering working condition, the steering cylinder piston may obtain higher motion velocity, and the dynamic response velocity of hydraulic power steering system can be increased by reducing the pressure drop of hydraulic pipelines between the accumulator and steering cylinder and by increasing the rated pressure of hydraulic power steering system, but the dynamic characteristics of hydraulic power steering system in load-haul-dump vehicle have nothing to do with the precharge pressure of nitrogen in steering accumulator. 展开更多

The method of simulating the random torsional excitation of tracked vehicle is explored at first. Secondly,the road random torsional excitations under different road roughness,vehicle speeds and pre-tensions are obtained. Thirdly,the dynamic analysis model of tracked vehicle power train is constructed with the consideration of the road random torsional excitation. Eventually,the influences of this excitation on output torque,bearing support force,vibration acceleration and dynamic shear stress of transmission shafts are intensively studied.The research conclusions are helpful to correct and refine the present virtual prototype of tracked vehicle power train. 展开更多

A novel air-powered twin-rotor piston engine(ATPE) utilizing a differential velocity driving mechanism to achieve a high output torque was proposed.The ATPE had eight separated rotary cylinders which can dynamically enlarge the engine displacement as a result of the special driving mechanism,which was named dynamic volume expansion.The mathematical model of ATPE comprising a dynamic model and a thermodynamic model was established under the assumption of no mechanical friction.The model was numerically simulated in Matlab.The results show that shortage of low output torque confusing traditional air-powered engines can be overcome.The average output torque sharply increases to 100 N·m,which is about three times that of traditional air-powered engines with equal cylinder displacement under the pressure of 0.6 MPa at 480 r/min.ATPE can be used to drive vehicles directly without transmission box,therefore the energy transfer efficiency of ATPE can be increased.Furthermore,benefitting from the novel gas distribution system,the engine shows an ability in self-adjusting under different loads.The arrangements of air ports automatically adjust the open interval of air ports according to the load,which may simplify the speed control system. 展开更多

With the global trend of pursuing clean energy and decarbonization,power systems have been evolving in a fast pace that we have never seen in the history of electrification.This evolution makes the power system more dynamic and more distributed,with higher uncertainty.These new power system behaviors bring significant challenges in power system modeling and simulation as more data need to be analyzed for larger systems and more complex models to be solved in a shorter time period.The conventional computing approaches will not be sufficient for future power systems.This paper provides a historical review of computing for power system operation and planning,discusses technology advancements in high performance computing(HPC),and describes the drivers for employing HPC techniques.Some high performance computing application examples with different HPC techniques,including the latest quantum computing,are also presented to show how HPC techniques can help us be well prepared to meet the requirements of power system computing in a clean energy future. 展开更多

A novel solar polygeneration system for heat, power and fresh water production with absorption heat pump(AHP) and humidification-dehumidification(HDH) desalination system was proposed for high-efficiency utilization of solar energy. A case study of the proposed system was investigated based on 1 MW solar thermal power(STP) tower plant located in Beijing. Depending on mathematical modeling of the proposed system, corresponding modules were developed in TRNSYS. Meanwhile, control and operation strategies were fully studied with principal of solar energy cascade utilization. The thermodynamic performance of the proposed system was dynamically simulated at one minute intervals in a typical day. It was found that solar energy utilization level was improved with the help of solar thermal storage system and continuous heating in different operation modes met well with flexible heating loads from 93.76 kW to 169.49 kW. During AHP operation period, its Coefficient of Performance(COP) varied from 1.39 to 1.73 due to recoverable condensate heat restricted by heating demand. Meanwhile, fresh water production of HDH increased from 352.05 kg/h to 416.62 kg/h with Gained Output Ratio(GOR) increase from 2.48 to 2.67. Compared with original STP tower plant, maximum power generation efficiency was increased from 18.66% to 19.22% with power from 1169.69 kW to 1204.44 kW. 展开更多

Dynamic simulation is one of the most complex and important computations for power systems researches.Traditional solutions based on normal Newton iterations almost all depend on evaluations of Jacobian matrixes,which increases the programming complexity of and limits the parallelizability of the whole simulation.In this paper,a new adaptive preconditioned Jacobian-free Newton-GMRES(m)method is proposed to be applied to dynamic simulations of power systems.This new method has totally Jacobian-free characteristics,which saves calculations and storages of Jacobian matrixes and features strong parallelizability.Moreover,several speedup strategies are introduced to enhance efficiency and parallelizability of overall computations.Numerical tests are carried out on IEEE standard test systems and results show that in series computing environment,simulations based on the proposed method have comparable speed to those based on classical Newton-Raphson methods. 展开更多

Particular attention has been paid to the induction motor load model. Accurate models of voltage supporting devices including OLTC transformer are derived. The system of differential equations based on the above models are converted into linear algebraic equations by use of the trapezoidal approximation formula. These are then written as difference equations to facilitate computational programming. For various contingencies a numerical iterative technique is used to obtain a simulation of the system voltage and angle profile. Various contingency tests on a 9-bus sample system and a 22-bus system prove the applicability of the package. 展开更多

Concentrating photovoltaic/concentrating solar power(CPV/CSP)systems suffer from varying irradiation and extreme working conditions.In this study,a dynamic physical model is developed for the CPV/CSP hybrid system to analyze the dynamic responses of several key parameters,such as the solar radiation saltation or linear variation to represent the typical weather variations.The results show that the hybrid system could rapidly reach the steady state in less than about 53 s after the solar radiation saltation increases or decreases by 10%.The response time reflects that the thermal hysteresis of the hybrid system is mainly determined by varying the outlet temperature of R134a from the solar thermal receiver.Meanwhile,when the solar radiation changes linearly,a lower gradient is beneficial to remit the thermal hysteresis of the hybrid system and improve the thermal stability,and the parameters could be treated as the steady state values with a gradient of less than 0.2 W m^-2 s^-1.Afterward,the quasi-steady state model was used to analyze the all-day dynamic performance of the hybrid system.It shows that the power output and the flow rate are directly related to the direct normal irradiance(DNI),while the outlet temperature of R134a vapor could be almost constant except for the starting and stopping periods. 展开更多

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence(AI),it is foreseeable that the accuracy and efficiency of dynamic analysis for future power system will be greatly improved by the integration of dynamic simulators and AI.To explore the interaction mechanism of power system dynamic simulations and AI,a general design for AI-oriented power system dynamic simulators is proposed,which consists of a high-performance simulator with neural network supportability and flexible external and internal application programming interfaces(APIs).With the support of APIs,simulation-assisted AI and AIassisted simulation form a comprehensive interaction mechanism between power system dynamic simulations and AI.A prototype of this design is implemented and made public based on a highly efficient electromechanical simulator.Tests of this prototype are carried out in four scenarios including sample generation,AI-based stability prediction,data-driven dynamic component modeling,and AI-aided stability control,which prove the validity,flexibility,and efficiency of the design and implementation for AI-oriented power system dynamic simulators. 展开更多
