The processing maps at different strains were then constructed based on the dynamic materials model, and the hot compression process parameters and deformation mechanism were optimized and analyzed, respectively. The results show that the processing maps exhibit two domains with a high efficiency of power dissipation and a flow instability domain with a less efficiency of power dissipation. The types of domains were characterized by convergence and divergence of the efficiency of power dissipation, respectively. The convergent domain in a+fl phase field is at the temperature of 950-990 ℃ and the strain rate of 0.001-0.01 s^-1, which correspond to a better hot compression process window of α+β phase field. The peak of efficiency of power dissipation in α+β phase field is at 950 ℃ and 0.001 s 1, which correspond to the best hot compression process parameters of α+β phase field. The convergent domain in β phase field is at the temperature of 1020-1080 ℃ and the strain rate of 0.001-0.1 s^-l, which correspond to a better hot compression process window of β phase field. The peak of efficiency of power dissipation in ℃ phase field occurs at 1050 ℃ over the strain rates from 0.001 s^-1 to 0.01 s^-1, which correspond to the best hot compression process parameters of ,8 phase field. The divergence domain occurs at the strain rates above 0.5 s^-1 and in all the tested temperature range, which correspond to flow instability that is manifested as flow localization and indicated by the flow softening phenomenon in stress-- strain curves. The deformation mechanisms of the optimized hot compression process windows in a+β and β phase fields are identified to be spheroidizing and dynamic recrystallizing controlled by self-diffusion mechanism, respectively. The microstructure observation of the deformed specimens in different domains matches very well with the optimized results.展开更多

Firstly, the stress?strain relationships at different temperatures and strain rates were investigated via uniaxial tensile testing. Then, formability data, as determined by examining the deep drawing and bending abilities, were obtained through limiting draw ratio (LDR) and bending tests. Finally, metallographic experiments and fracture morphology investigations were conducted to examine the thermal deformation mechanism of the alloy. The results showed that as the temperature increased, the total elongation increased from 13.58% to 97.82% and the yield strength decreased from 788 to 80 MPa over the temperature range from 750 to 950 °C at a strain rate 0.001 s?1. When the temperature reached 950 °C, the strain rate was found to have a great influence on the deformation properties. The plastic formability of the sheet metal was significantly improved and a microstructuraltransformation of O toB2 andα2 occurred in this temperature region, revealing the deformation mechanism of its plasticity.展开更多

The apparent densities of SiC foams were controlled between about 0.4 and 2.3 g/cm^3, with corresponding compressive strengths ranging from about 23 to 60 MPa and flexural strengths from about 8 to 30 MPa. Compressive testing of the SiC foams yielded stress-strain curves with only one linear-elastic region, which is different from those reported on ceramic foams in literature. This can possibly be attributed to the existence of filaments with fine, dense and high strength microstructures. The SiC and the filaments respond homogeneously to applied loading.展开更多

Microstructures of deformed 7055 alloy were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The dependence of peak stress on deformation temperature and strain rate can be expressed by the hyperbolic-sine type equation. The hot deformation activation energy of the alloy is 146 kJ/mol. Moreover, the flow stress curves predicted by the modified constitutive equations are reasonably consistent with the experimental results, which confirms that the proposed deformation constitutive equations can provide evidence for the selection of hot forming parameters. TEM results indicate that dy- namic recovery is the main softening mechanism during hot deformation.展开更多

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) measurement and microanalysis were adopted in order to understand the microstructure evolution and deformation behavior of the as-cast NiTi SMA under compression at various strain rates and temperatures. The microstructures of as-cast NiTi SMA composed of dendritic grains and equiaxed grains are inhomogeneous and show segregation. The as-cast NiTi SMA consists of B19′ martensite, B2 austenite and Ti2Ni phase simultaneously at room temperature. The as-cast NiTi SMA is sensitive to strain rate under compression at high temperature, at which NiTi SMA is characterized by dynamic recrystallization at strain rates of 0.1 and 0.01 s-1, but by dynamic recovery at strain rate of 0.001s-1. Meanwhile, the existing researches only focus on the grain refinement law of the magnesium alloys under deformation conditions, the deformation mechanism has not been revealed yet. The hot compression behavior of AZ41M and ZK60M magnesium alloys under the temperature and strain rate ranges of 250-400 ℃ and 0.001-1 s-1 are studied by thermal simulation methods using Gleeble 1500 machine and virtual simulation using finite element analysis software. Simulation results show that sine hyperbolic law is the most suitable flow stress model for wider deformation conditions. The most reasonable selected deformation conditions of ZK60M alloy is 350 oC/0.1 s-1 for TRC and 350 oC/1 s-1 for conventional casting (CC), while AZ41M alloy is 300 oC/0.01 s-1 for TRC and 350 oC/0.1 s-1 for CC. Deformation behavior and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) mechanism of them are analyzed at the same deformation conditions. The microstructures of AZ41M and ZK60M alloys are observed at different deformed conditions by optical microscopy (OM) and electron back scatter diffraction (EBSD) and it reveals the flow behavior and deformation mechanism of them. Working harden and work soften contribute to the activation of basal, non-basal slip systems which promote DRX. The proposed research reveals the deformation behavior and mechanism of the AZ41M and ZK 60M magnesium alloys and concludes their optimized deformation parameters and processes and provides a theory basis for their manufacturing and application.展开更多

A three dimensional(3D) elastic-plastic finite element(FE) model of NC bending process was established under ABAQUS/Explicit platform, and its reliability was validated by the experiment. Then, numerical study on bending deformation behaviors under different frictions between tube and various dies was explored from multiple aspects such as wrinkling, wall thickness change and cross section deformation. The results show that the large friction of wiper die-tube reduces the wrinkling wave ratio η and cross section deformation degree ΔD and increases the wall thinning degree Δt. The large friction of mandrel-tube causes large η, Δt and ΔD, and the onset of wrinkling near clamp die. The large friction of pressure die-tube reduces Δt and ΔD, and the friction on this interface has little effect on η. The large friction of bending die-tube reduces η and ΔD, and the friction on this interface has little effect on Δt. The reasonable friction coefficients on wiper die-tube, mandrel-tube, pressure die-tube and bending die-tube of 21-6-9(0Cr21Ni6Mn9N) stainless steel tube in NC bending are 0.05-0.15, 0.05-0.15, 0.25-0.35 and 0.25-0.35, respectively. The results can provide a guideline for applying the friction conditions to establish the robust bending environment for stable and precise bending deformation of tube bending.展开更多

The microstructure observation of the deformed specimens in different domains matches very well with the optimized results.

文摘The deformation behaviors of a new quaternary Mg-6Zn-1.5Cu-0.5Zr alloy at temperatures of 523-673 K and strain rates of 0.001-1 s-1 were studied by compressive tests using a Gleeble 3800 thermal-simulator.The results show that the flow stress increases as the deformation temperature decreases or as the strain rate increases.A strain-dependent constitutive equation and a feed-forward back-propagation artificial neural network were used to predict flow stress, which showed good agreement with experimental data. The processing map suggests that the domains of 643-673 K and 0.001-0.01 s-1 are corresponded to optimum conditions for hot working of the T4-treated Mg-6Zn-1.5Cu-0.5Zr alloy.

文摘The grain statistics effect was investigated through asymmetric rolling of pure copper foil by a realistic polycrystalline aggregates model and crystal plasticity element finite model.A polycrystalline aggregate model was generated and a crystal plasticity-based finite element model was developed for each grain and the specimen as a whole. The crystal plasticity model itself is rate dependent and accounts for local dissipative hardening effects and the original orientation of each grain was generated based on the orientation distribution function(ODF).The deformation behaviors, including inhomogeneous material flow, decrease of contact press and roll force with the increase of grain size for the constant size of specimens, were studied. It is revealed that when the specimens are composed of only a few grains across thickness, the grains with different sizes, shapes and orientations are unevenly distributed in the specimen and each grain plays a significant role in micro-scale plastic deformation and leads to inhomogeneous deformation and the scatter of experimental and simulation results. The slip system activity was examined and the predicted results are consistent with the surface layer model. The slip band is strictly influenced by the misorientation of neighbor grain with consideration of slip system activity.Furthermore,it is found that the decrease of roll force and the most active of slip system in surface grains are caused by the increase of free surface grain effect when the grain size is increased. The results of the physical experiment and simulation provide a basic understanding of micro-scaled plastic deformation behavior in asymmetric foil rolling.

文摘Hot deformation behavior ofX20Cr13 martensitic stainless steel was investigated by conducting hot compression tests on Gleeble-1500D thermo-mechanical simulator at the temperature ranging from 1173 to 1423 K and the strain rate ranging from 0.001 to 10 s^-1. The material constants of a and n, activation energy Q and A were calculated as a function of strain by a fifth-order polynomial fit. Constitutive models incorporating deformation temperature, strain rate and strain were developed to model the hot deformation behavior of X20Cr13 martensitic stainless steel based on the Arrhenius equation. The predictable efficiency of the developed constitutive models of X20Cr13 martensitic stainless steel was analyzed by correlation coefficient and average absolute relative error which are 0.996 and 3.22%, respectively.

文摘The hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of 1460 Al-Li alloy were investigated by isothermal compression test conducted at various strain rates(10-3-10 s-1) and temperatures(573-773 K). The flow stress curves were corrected by considering the friction at the platen/specimen interface and the temperature change due to the deformation heating. The effects of strain, strain rate and temperature on the deformation behavior were characterized by the Zener-Hollomon parameter in a hyperbolic-sine equation, and the constitutive equations were established according to the peak flow stress associated with dynamic recovery, dynamic recrystallization and the dissolution of T1 phases. In the entire strain rate and temperature range, the prediction capabilities of the developed constitutive equation are proved to be feasible and effective with a linear correlation coefficient and an average absolute relative error coefficient of 0.9909 and 6.72%, respectively.

文摘The deformation behavior and mechanism of Ti2AlNb-based alloy were experimentally investigated at elevated temperatures. The plastic formability of the sheet metal was significantly improved and a microstructuraltransformation of O toB2 andα2 occurred in this temperature region, revealing the deformation mechanism of its plasticity.

文摘The hot deformation behavior of AA2014forging aluminum alloy was investigated by isothermal compression tests attemperatures of350-480°C and strain rates of0.001-1s-1on a Gleeble-3180simulator.The corresponding microstructures of thealloys under different deformation conditions were studied using optical microscopy(OM),electron back scattered diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The processing maps were constructed with strains of0.1,0.3,0.5and0.7.The results showed that the instability domain was more inclined to occur at strain rates higher than0.1s-1and manifested in theform of local non-uniform deformation. At the strain of0.7,the processing map showed two stability domains:domain I(350-430°C,0.005-0.1s-1)and domain II(450-480°C,0.001-0.05s-1).The predominant softening mechanisms in both of the twodomains were dynamic recovery.Uniform microstructures were obtained in domain I,and an extended recovery occurred in domainII,which would lead to the potential sub-grain boundaries progressively transforming into new high-angle grain boundaries.Theoptimum hot working parameters for the AA2014forging aluminum alloy were determined to be370-420°C and0.008-0.08s-1.
文摘Silicon carbide (SIC) foams with a continuously connected open-cell structure were prepared and characterized for their mechanical performance. The SiC and the filaments respond homogeneously to applied loading.
文摘The hot deformation behavior and microstructures of Al-7055 commercial alloy were investigated by axisymmetric hot compres- sion at temperatures ranging from 300℃ to 450℃ and strain rates from 10^-2 to 10 s^-1, respectively. TEM results indicate that dy- namic recovery is the main softening mechanism during hot deformation.

文摘The hot deformation behavior, microstructure evolution and fracture characteristics of bimodal microstructured Ti-6Al-2Zr-1Mo-1V alloy were investigated by isothermal tensile tests. Results reveal that flow softening is caused by dynamic globularization of the bimodal microstructure, which also results in a relatively high stress exponent and thermal activation energy. The corresponding SEM,EBSD and TEM observations indicate that the dynamic globularization at750and800℃is accomplished by the formation ofα/αsub-grain boundary and penetration of theβphase. However, dynamic recrystallization(DRX)is the main globularization mechanism at850℃,which was proved by the generation of fine grains with a necklace-like character due to the transformation of low-angle boundaries(LABs)into high-angle boundaries(HABs).With an increase in the deformation temperature or a decrease in the strain rate, the fracture mechanism changes from microvoid coalescence to intergranular fracture.

文摘The as-cast ingot of equiatomic nickel-titanium shape memory alloy (SMA) was prepared via vacuum consumable arc melting. The strain rates have little influence on the true stress—strain curves as well as microstructure of NiTi SMA at room temperature and -100 °C.

文摘There are many researches on the deformation behavior of wrought magnesium alloys, such as AZ31, AZ80, AZ91, and ZK60 magnesium alloys at different temperatures and strain rates, but few of them focuses on the deformation behavior of AZ41M and ZK60M alloys, especially under the twin-roll casting (TRC) state. The proposed research reveals the deformation behavior and mechanism of the AZ41M and ZK 60M magnesium alloys and concludes their optimized deformation parameters and processes and provides a theory basis for their manufacturing and application.

文摘The hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of 6082 aluminum alloy fabricated through squeeze casting(SC)under different pressures were studied. The alloy was subjected to hot compression tests and 3D hot processing maps were established. The microstructure evolution was studied by optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscope(SEM),and electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD).It is found that more dynamic recrystallization(DRX)grains are generated during the deformation of the specimen fabricated under higher SC pressure. At high temperature the effect of SC pressure on microstructure evolution weakens due to the dissolution of second phase particles. In addition, uneven second phase particles in specimens fabricated under higher SC pressure compressed with low temperature and middle strain rate would result in flow localization instability. Finally, the optimum deformation conditions for the 6082 aluminum alloy fabricated by SC were obtained at the temperatures of 430−500℃ and the strain rates of 0.01−1 s^(−1).

文摘For contact dominated numerical control(NC) bending process of tube, the effect of friction on bending deformation behaviors should be focused on to achieve precision bending forming. The results can provide a guideline for applying the friction conditions to establish the robust bending environment for stable and precise bending deformation of tube bending.
文摘Deformation behavior of 1 Al containing Mg alloy has been investigated in the present study. After annealing, the Mg-1 Al alloy shows a typical basal texture. When compared to the pure Mg having a similar texture and grain size, the Mg-1 Al alloy shows much higher strength and larger elongation.Slip trace analyses of the tensile strained specimens show that non-basal slips such as pyramidal I and II slips can be easily activated at an early stage of deformation in the Mg-1 Al alloy and the grains in the Mg-1 Al alloy are seen to accommodate a larger degree of deformation than those in the pure Mg at a given strain. With increasing tensile strain, however, there is a strain localization along the initially formed slip lines of non-basal slips, forming surface steps without activating multiple slip lines.

文摘Hot compression tests in the temperature range of 340-450 ℃ and strain rate range of 0.001-1 s^-1 of spray-formed 7055 aluminum alloy were carried out to study its hot deformation behavior. Three phenomenological models including Johnson-Cook, modified Fields-Backofen and Arrhenius-type were introduced to predict the flow stresses during the compression process. And then, a comparative predictability of the phenomenological models was estimated in terms of the relative errors, correlation coefficient(R), and average absolute relative error(AARE). The results indicate that Johnson-Cook model and modified Fields-Backofen model cannot well predict the hot deformation behavior due to the large deviation in the process of line regression fitting. Arrhenius-type model obtains the best fit through combining the effect of strain rate and temperature.
