Cultural Complex Design from the Perspective of Urban Renewal: A Case Study of Incheon Geomdan Cultural Complex in South Korea

Urban development should rely on the form of architecture,and incorporating urban planning concepts into architectural design can better assist urban construction.Taking the design of Incheon Geomdan Cultural Complex in South Korea as an example,this paper analyzes how to reflect urban planning elements in architectural design,and studies the role and value of cultural complex architecture in urban development from multiple perspectives such as culture,ecological environment,and public space.It hopes to gain more research and design ideas to promote the development of cultural industries in the region,leverage the advantages of regional cultural formats,and create new cultural settlements in cities.

Microspace Revitalization Design around Xihuangcun Railway Station from the Perspective of Urban Renewal

Railways within the city carry the historical memory of urban development and are important industrial heritage resources.However,with urban development and changes in transportation functions,railways lose their original application value and are gradually left unused or even abandoned,affecting the vitality of the region.Taking the space around Xihuangcun Railway Station as the research object,the public activity space on both sides of the railway is reshaped through five strategies:function revitalization,traffic revitalization,heritage revitalization,spatial revitalization,and landscape revitalization,and the grey area of the city is transformed into a vibrant development zone of the city.

Exploring the Path of Shantytown Renewal Based on the Theory of Environment-behavior Studies: A Case Study of the Northwest Area of Saihantala in Baotou City

The application of environment-behavior studies plays an important role in studying the renewal of shantytowns.One of the most humane ways of renewal is designing and constructing the necessary urban spatial environment from the perspective of human daily behavior.Most of the shantytown renovation projects currently carried out in China are mainly focused on demolition and reconstruction,which not only incurs high costs but also damages the original social structure and economic model.During the process of shantytown renewal,it should improve the urban landscape,living environment,and life quality of residents,and ensure the daily life of shantytown residents without increasing their economic burden,and preserve the traces of urban development.In order to achieve this goal,it should explore the renewal strategies of shantytowns from the perspective of environment-behavior studies through behavior maps,on-site research,and literature review.Updating and design from a human perspective often achieve faster and better development;the renewal of shantytowns should be a bottom-up approach and start from a grassroots perspective,completing the renovation design through the composition of the population and behavioral patterns.

Improvement of the Vitality of Public Space under the Background of Urban Renewal

As an indispensable part of urban development,urban renewal plays an important role in terms of promoting urban society,economy,culture,etc.,and has a profound impact on the sustainable development of cities and the happiness index of residents.Public space,as an important part of a city,plays a more critical role in urban renewal.The vitality of public space not only reflects the degree of urban cultural inheritance,but also shows the level of urban economic development,so it is an important issue that must be paid attention to in urban renewal work.In this paper,starting from the concept of urban renewal,public space and vitality,the influencing factors and methods of studying the vitality of public space under the background of urban renewal,as well as its advantages and limitations,were discussed,and some strategies for enhancing the vitality of public space under the background of urban renewal were finally put forward.It is expected to provide some reference and practical significance for the research and practice of urban renewal and the enhancement of the vitality of public space.

Design Strategy of Street Space Micro Renewal: A Case Study of Baihuazhou District of Nanchang City

Against the backdrop of incremental planning moving towards stock planning, strengtheningurban public space design to promote high-quality urban development has become a focus of attentionfor domestic scholars. Street is a linear element of urban public space, and it is of great significance forimproving the quality of urban public space by studying the micro renewal design strategy of street space.Based on the interpretation of two urban renewal cases, Wangjing Street in Beijing and Mengzhuiwan inChengdu, taking Baihuazhou area in Nanchang City as an example, this paper analyzes the main problemsin the current situation of street space in Baihuazhou area from three aspects: space use, traffic organization,and waterfront space creation, and explores the micro renewal design strategy of the street space.

The community located around colleges and universities is a place where university students and community residents engage in production and life together.Due to the influence of colleges and universities,these communities have spontaneously formed various other functions,resulting in the disorderly development of the entire space and a lack of effective guidance and control.With the development of colleges and universities,problems within the community are gradually increasing.These factors affect the spatial quality of the communities,as well as the environmental atmosphere of colleges and universities,and cause damage to the spatial environment of the entire region.By sorting out the issues between universities and surrounding communities,the development of universities is linked with that of communities,and a path of cooperation and win-win development is sought.

Conservation and Renewal Strategies of Industrial Heritage Residential Areas from the Perspective of Heritage Protection : A Case Study of Residential Area of Wuchang Vehicle Factory

The residential area of Wuchang Vehicle Factory is taken as a case to explore the protection and renewal strategies of industrial heritage residential areas.By analyzing the current situation of the residential area,issues such as functional decline,memory loss,and weakened community vitality are revealed.Three design concepts are proposed:building renovation,historical space renovation,and the introduction of cultural and creative industries,aiming to improve the living environment,showcase historical value,cultivate cultural and creative industries,promote economic transformation,and community vitality.This paper could provide reference for the protection and renewal of similar industrial heritage residential areas,and new ideas for the research and utilization of industrial heritage.By comprehensively considering heritage protection,cultural inheritance,and community development,systematic suggestions are proposed.

Research on Landscape Justice under the Background of Community RenewalMING

A city is a complex giant system,in which landscape is a process,and emphasizes the regulation of social relationships in the process of creating landscape,rather than simply creating a kind of landscape.In response to the slogan of high-quality development of China,communities,as the earliest developed but declining old areas in Chinese cities,are the focus of current urban renovation work.By studying the latest research theories in the process of community renewal,it is concluded that there is a close relationship between“community renewal”and“landscape justice”or“public participation”.Based on this,research related to community renewal and landscape justice were sorted out,and suggestions for future research focus were proposed.

Micro-Renewal Design of Typical Public Spaces from the Perspective of Residents’Activity Characteristics and Spatial Needs:Taking Baizhifang Street in Xicheng District as an Example

As China’s urbanization development direction has shifted from incremental construction to upgrading existing structures,urban renewal has become an important planning approach,and the gradual micro-renewal model has become a key trend for residential area transformation.Additionally,the local renewal approach focusing on public spaces of residential areas is becoming a new way to enhance the quality of urban public spaces,stimulate urban vitality,and promote sustainable development of regions.Currently,due to the long building years and other factors,old communities have insufficient public facilities,parking difficulties,outdated facilities,and other problems,making it difficult to meet the needs of residents’lives.This paper takes Baizhifang Street in Xicheng District as an example and starts from the meaning of participatory design,respecting the existing environment and policies in China,discussing the public space problems,selecting the renewal area and formulating design strategies,and finally showcases the actual application of the design in public space renovation.

Thoughts on Urban Renewal Action under Policy Guidance

Driven by the rapid development of urbanization in China,a large amount of inefficient land has been generated,and cities need to transform their extensive development methods.To achieve efficient urban development,the relevant departments implement urban renewal actions,and promote sustainable urban development.On the basis of analyzing the concept of urban renewal action,the history and background of urban renewal policies are analyzed,and different levels of policy guidance and priorities are sorted out.Several thoughts are put forward on urban renewal action,aiming to create a beautiful and comfortable urban space.It is hoped that this will have certain guiding significance for urban renewal in China.

Bridging History and Modernity:Multidimensional Analysis and Reflection on the Renewal of Xianyukou District,Beijing,China

With Xianyukou District in Beijing as the study object,scenario theory,urban restoration theory and organic renewal theory were used to carry out an in-depth analysis on the renovation and renewal projects within the district.Investigations were made to the typical cases such as Xianyukou Food Street,Sanlihe River System and its surrounding environment,and Caochang Hutong,revealing the successful experiences and existing problems in the renovation of historic areas.The results show that the key factors for the successful renewal of historic districts are multiple theoretical guidance,balanced protection and development,systematic thinking,community participation,and subsequent management.Based on the analysis results,strategies such as functional diversification,cultural revitalization,and community empowerment have been proposed,aiming to provide new ideas and methods for the sustainable development of historic districts.

Research on Structural Renewal and Renovation Strategies for Industrial Heritage Projects-A Case Study of the Structural Renovation of the “Dahua 1935” Project

The wave of post-industrial evolution has led to the emergence of numerous industrial heritage renovation projects in recent years.The renovation and upgrading of the Dahua 1935 project preserve the memories of the previous industrial age while incorporating modern materials and technologies,resulting in a design that blends traditional and contemporary elements.This has made Dahua 1935 a new intellectual property(IP)symbol of Xi’an,earning praise from both residents and tourists from other provinces.Additionally,to achieve a unity of art and technology,Dahua 1935 underwent structural reinforcement and optimization to enhance its aesthetic appeal.This paper aims to further explore methods for structural optimization in the renovation of Xi’an’s industrial heritage projects by conducting on-site investigations,data collection,and structural analysis,building upon the structural analysis of Dahua 1935 in Xi’an.

Influences of Financial Development and Energy Price on Renewable Energy:An Italian Case

Global climate change has created substantial difficulties in the areas of sustainability,development,and environmental conservation due to the widespread dependence on fossil fuels for energy production.Nevertheless,the promotion of renewable energy programs has the potential to significantly expedite endeavors aimed at tackling climate change.Thus,it is essential to conduct a thorough analysis that considers the financial aspects to fully understand the main hurdles that are preventing the advancement of renewable energy initiatives.Italy is a leading country in the worldwide deployment of renewable energy.The objective of this research is to assess the impact of financial growth,economic progress,and energy expenses on Italy’s adoption of renewable energy sources.By employing the Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag(ARDL)technique,we analyzed annual data spanning from1990 to 2022.Findings revealed that a 1%increase in financial and economic development would boost renewable energy consumption in the long run by 0.29%and 0.48%,respectively.Instead,a 1%increase in energy prices might reduce consumption of renewable energy by 0.05%in the long run.This study’s primary significance lies in furnishing actionable strategies for Italy to augment green finance for renewable energy,fostering sustained social and economic progress.Moreover,the analytical insights gleaned from this research offer valuable insights for energy-importing nations worldwide.

Protection of Historic and Cultural Heritage in the Urban Renewal of Xi'an City,China

Concept of urban renewal was elaborated,which for the protection of historic and cultural heritage not only provides a favorable opportunity of integrating neighboring environment and improving protection conditions,but also imposes threats such as destroying its historic images and patterns,degrading of survival environment.To properly protect historic and cultural heritage in the unceasing urban renewal,and make it a significant resource and feature of the city but not a barrier of urban development,empirical analysis and theoretical research were adopted to analyze and study current conditions and problems of the protection of historic and cultural heritage in Xi'an City from the dimension of urban renewal concept and present urban renewal of Xi'an.Moreover,through summarizing successful experience of other regions,specific strategies were given to protect historic and cultural heritage of Xi'an City in its urban renewal more scientifically and reasonably.

Removal of Aniline from Wastewater Using Hollow Fiber Renewal Liquid Membrane

Hollow fiber renewal liquid membrane(HFRLM) method was proposed based on the surface renewal theory for removal of aniline from waste water. The system of aniline + D2 EHPA in kerosene + HCl was used. Aqueous layer diffusion in the feed phase is the rate-control step, and the influence of lumen side flow rate on the mass transfer is more significant than that on the shell side. The resistance of overall mass transfer is greatly reduced because of the mass transfer intensification in the renewal of liquid membrane on the lumen side. The driving force of mass transfer can be considered as a function of distribution equilibrium, and the overall mass transfer coefficient increases with the increase of p H in the feed solution, HCl concentration and D2 EHPA concentration, and decreases with the increase of initial aniline concentration. A mass transfer model is developed for HFRLM based on the surface renewal theory. The calculated results agree well with experimental results. The HFRLM process is a promising method for aniline wastewater treatment.

Enhancement Factors in Ozone Absorption Based on the Surface Renewal Model and its Application

Based on the Danckwerts surface renewal model, a simple explicit expression of the enhancement factor in ozone absorption with a first order ozone self-decomposition and parallel second order ozonation reactions has been derived. The results are compared with our previous work based on the film theory. The 2,4-dichlorophenol destruction rate by ozonation is predicted using the enhancement factor model in this paper.

RENEWAL THEOREM FOR(L,1)-RANDOM WALK IN RANDOM ENVIRONMENT

We consider a random walk on Z in random environment with possible jumps {-L,…, -1, 1}, in the case that the environment {ωi ： i ∈ Z} are i.i.d.. We establish the renewal theorem for the Markov chain of ＂the environment viewed from the particle＂ in both annealed probability and quenched probability, which generalize partially the results of Kesten （1977） and Lalley （1986） for the nearest random walk in random environment on Z, respectively. Our method is based on （L, 1）-RWRE formulated in Hong and Wang the intrinsic branching structure within the （2013）.

The Approximation of the Exponential Weibull Renewal Function

The analytical renewal function(RF) is not tractable of the exponential Weibull(EW) distribution. In the proposed model, the n-fold convolution of the EW cumulative distribution function(CDF) is approximated by a n-fold convolutions of Gamma and normal CDFs. We obtain the EW RF by a series approximation model. The method is very simple in the computation. When the parameters are unknown, we present the asymptotic confidence interval of the RF. The validity of the asymptotic confidence interval is checked via some numerical experiments.
