BACKGROUND Due to frequent and high-risk sports activities,the elbow joint is susceptible to injury,especially to cartilage tissue,which can cause pain,limited movement and even loss of joint function.AIM To evaluate ...BACKGROUND Due to frequent and high-risk sports activities,the elbow joint is susceptible to injury,especially to cartilage tissue,which can cause pain,limited movement and even loss of joint function.AIM To evaluate magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)multisequence imaging for improving the diagnostic accuracy of adult elbow cartilage injury.METHODS A total of 60 patients diagnosed with elbow cartilage injury in our hospital from January 2020 to December 2021 were enrolled in this retrospective study.We analyzed the accuracy of conventional MRI sequences(T1-weighted imaging,T2-weighted imaging,proton density weighted imaging,and T2 star weighted image)and Three-Dimensional Coronary Imaging by Spiral Scanning(3D-CISS)in the diagnosis of elbow cartilage injury.Arthroscopy was used as the gold standard to evaluate the diagnostic effect of single and combination sequences in different injury degrees and the consistency with arthroscopy.RESULTS The diagnostic accuracy of 3D-CISS sequence was 89.34%±4.98%,the sensitivity was 90%,and the specificity was 88.33%,which showed the best performance among all sequences(P<0.05).The combined application of the whole sequence had the highest accuracy in all sequence combinations,the accuracy of mild injury was 91.30%,the accuracy of moderate injury was 96.15%,and the accuracy of severe injury was 93.33%(P<0.05).Compared with arthroscopy,the combination of all MRI sequences had the highest consistency of 91.67%,and the kappa value reached 0.890(P<0.001).CONCLUSION Combination of 3D-CISS and each sequence had significant advantages in improving MRI diagnostic accuracy of elbow cartilage injuries in adults.Multisequence MRI is recommended to ensure the best diagnosis and treatment.展开更多
Clinical examination data often have the features of carrying vague information,missing data and incomplete examination records,which lead to higher probabilities of misdiagnosis.A variational recursive-discriminant j...Clinical examination data often have the features of carrying vague information,missing data and incomplete examination records,which lead to higher probabilities of misdiagnosis.A variational recursive-discriminant joint model with fast weights(FWs)scheme is proposed.MIMIC-III data sets are trained and tested,and the results are used to diagnosing.Variational recurrent neural network(VRNN)with FWs can better obtain the temporal features with partly missing data,and discriminant neural network(DNN)is for decision.Moreover,layer regularization(LN)avoids the overflow of loss function and stabilize the dynamic parameters of each layer.For the simulations,10 laboratory tests were selected to predict 10 diseases,1600 samples and 400 samples were used for training and testing,respectively.The test accuracy of disease diagnosis without FWs is 72.55%,and that with FWs is 85.80%.Simulations reveal that the FWs mechanism can effectively optimize the system model,abstracting the features for diagnose,and significantly improve the accuracy of decision-making.展开更多
Objective To investigate the feasibility of subtraction coronary computed tomographic(CT)angiography(SubCCTA)to decline calcium artifacts and improve diagnostic accuracy in the presence of coronary calcification and a...Objective To investigate the feasibility of subtraction coronary computed tomographic(CT)angiography(SubCCTA)to decline calcium artifacts and improve diagnostic accuracy in the presence of coronary calcification and analyze the factors that influence SubCCTA.Methods A total of 294 patients suspected of having coronary artery diseases underwent coronary computed tomographic angiography(CCTA)and SubCCTA.Coronary stenoses were blindly evaluated by two experienced radiologists,which were compared with invasive coronary angiography(ICA).Multiple statistical indexes were adopted to analyze the value of SubCCTA for the diagnosis of calcium stenoses.Results The diagnosable rate of SubCCTA was 67.2%(n=197),and the non-diagnosable rate was 32.8%(n=97).Using SubCCTA,the false positive rate decreased from 56.5%to 17.4%,and the corresponding diagnostic accuracy was increased from 83.6%to 92.9%.Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that height(OR=1.029,95%CI=1.001–1.058),weight(OR=1.025,95%CI=1.004–1.046),left ventricular size(OR=1.018,95%CI=1.007–1.030),cardiothoracic ratio(OR=39.917,95%CI=1.244–1281.098),the average heart rate(OR=0.866,95%CI=0.836–0.896)and heart rate range(OR=0.882,95%CI=0.853–0.912)might be the factors influencing SubCCTA.Conclusion This study suggested that SubCCTA could help improve diagnostic accuracy in the presence of calcium plaques.Moreover,several factors were discovered for the first time to possibly influence SubCCTA,which will be helpful in improving the subtracted image quality.展开更多
