Validation study, developed with 17 mothers whose children were under five years old, was analyzed on scenes of an educational video according to the validity of appearance (clarity/comprehension) and of content (relevance). The scenes were considered clear and comprehensive with a perceptual above 70% and with an average of 96.9% of agreement. Regarding the relevance, the agreement was maintained between 94% and 100%, however only scenes 03 and 13 presented 76.6% and 70.6% of agreement respectively. Global Content Validation Index of the educational video scenes was 0.97 meaning an excellent level of agreement among mothers. The video showed to be a valid and a trustworthy material to promote maternal self-efficacy in preventing childhood diarrhea. Therefore, it is important that the material is disseminated in other health services so that other mothers may have contact with the same, providing greater reliability of the material.展开更多

Method: Documentary study, which evaluated six educational videos from an adapted and validated tool, the Suitability Assessment of Materials. Three nurses evaluated the videos. Data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 17.0, and presented in tables and graphics. Results: It was found that 4 (66.6%) of the educational videos were classified as appropriate, ranging from 60% to 63.3% of full approval, and 2 (33.3%) were assessed as higher, reaching up to 83.3% to 90% approval. Considering the socioeconomic and cultural contexts of the videos to the audience, they assigned notes ranging from 6 to 9 in a rating ranging from 0, the minimum score, to 10, the highest score. Conclusion: The educational videos were considered adequate, with positive results about the content on the prevention and management of infant diarrhea, being appropriate for the target audience. As a result, greater credibility is ratified as the use thereof, since these resources can contribute to health promotion and prevention of diarrhea in children.展开更多

Methods: A total of 60 cases were randomized into a treatment group and a control group (30 in each group). Tuina manipulations were employed in the treatment group, whereas medication was administered in the control group. The between-group clinical effects were compared after one course of treatment. Results: The recovery rate was 20.0% in the treatment group, versus 3.3% in the control group, showing a statistical significance (P〈0.05). After treatment, there were between-group statistical differences (P〈0.05) in infants' main accompanying symptoms such as complexion, spirit, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Methods: One hundred and twenty patients met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups at the ratio of 2:1, and there were 80 cases in the treatment group while 40 cases in the control group. The patients in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture combined with tuina, while those in the control group were treated with medication. The effects of two groups were compared after a 3-day treatment. Results: The total effective rate was 97.5% in the treatment group, versus 87.5% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). After 48-hour treatments, the antidiarrheal effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group (P〈O.05). Animal experimental study was also conducted. Results:The disappearance time of principal symptoms, negative conversion rate of rotavirus in stool and serum levels of IgA and IgG in the treated group were significantly better than those in the control group (P<0.01, P< 0.05). Experimental study showed that QLL not only has the anti-viral effects to stop diarrhea, but also has effects in enhancing immune function and protecting intestinal mucous membrane. Results: The effective rate of the PPAOL group was 83. 33 % and that of Smecta group was 90. 00 %.There was no significant difference between the effect of the two groups in respect of the duration of fever and diarrhea. Human rotavirus RNA showed positive result in 13 patients of PPAOL group and 19 in Smecta group. The duration of virus excretion in both groups was 2 ~7 days, which was much shorter than 9~ 21 days in the previous report. Methods: Controlled observation method was adopted in the clinical and experimental study. Results: There was no significant difference in the treatment of dehydration between the ZXBYM group and oral rehydration solution (ORS) group (P>0.05), at the same time it was more effective for ZXBYM to eliminate such symptoms as vomiting and abdominal distension (P<0.01). In addition, it was confirmed that the ion concentration of sodium, potassium, chlorine, glucose and osmotic pressure in the mixture was similar to those in ORS. Animal experiment showed that ZXBYM has the effect of rat intestine peristalsis suppression and water absorption promotion in colon. And there was statistical difference in antidiarrhea effect between the mixture and ORS (P<0.01). Conclusion: ZXBYM is an effective mixture in the treatment of diarrhea with dehydration. It has a good prospect for the development and application.展开更多

Methods: Paired control method was used to study 54 cases of infantile intractable diarrhea patients, who were randomly divided into the treated group and the control group (western medicine treated group). The treated group was further subdivided into two syndrome-types: Spleen deficiency diarrhea type and Spleen-Kidney Yang deficiency diarrhea type, and modified Shenling Baizhu powder (参苓白术散) and Sijunzi decoction (四君子汤) with modified Sishen pill (四神丸) were used for them respectively, while the control group was given only the conventional western drugs. At the same time, immunoglobulin (IG) and T lymphocyte transformation rate (TLTR) were observed. Results: Before treatment, IgG, IgA and TLTR of all the patients in both groups were lowered; after treatment, all of them improved, and the improvement of the treated group was more significant than that of control group (P<0.01). In the treated group, the cure rate and total effective rate were significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.01). Conclusion: Using integrated traditional Chinese and western method, the immune function of the patients were enhanced, and the function of Spleen-Stomach was recuperated, therefore satisfactory results were reached.展开更多
