A plane mechanical model of rock breaking process by double disc cutter at the center of the cutterhead is established based on contact mechanics to analyze the stress evolution in the rock broken by cutters with different spacings. A continuous-discontinuous coupling numerical method based on zero-thickness cohesive elements is developed to simulate rock breaking using double cutters. The process, mechanism, and characteristics of rock breaking are comprehensively analyzed from five aspects: peak force, breaking form, breaking efficiency, crack mode, and breaking degree. The results show that under the penetrating action of cutters, dense cores are formed due to shear failure under respective cutters. The tensile cracks propagate in the rock, and then rock chips form with increasing penetration depth. When the cutter spacing is increased from 10 to 80 mm, the peak force gradually increases, the rock breaking range increases first and then decreases, the specific energy decreases first and then rises, and the breaking coefficient of intermediate rock decreases from 0.955 to 0.788. The area of rock breaking is positively correlated with the length of the tensile crack. Furthermore, the length of the tensile crack accounts for 14.4%–33.6% of the total crack length. 展开更多

Winding is one of themost important components in power transformers.Ensuring the health state of the winding is of great importance to the stable operation of the power system. To efficiently and accurately diagnose the disc space variation(DSV)fault degree of transformer winding, this paper presents a diagnostic method of winding fault based on the K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN)algorithmand the frequency response analysis(FRA)method.First,a laboratory winding model is used, and DSV faults with four different degrees are achieved by changing disc space of the discs in the winding. Then,a series of FRA tests are conducted to obtain the FRA results and set up the FRA dataset.Second, ten different numerical indices are utilized to obtain features of FRA curves of faulted winding.Third, the 10-fold cross-validation method is employed to determine the optimal k-value of KNN.In addition,to improve the accuracy of the KNN model,a comparative analysis is made between the accuracy of the KNN algorithm and k-value under four distance functions. After getting the most appropriate distance metric and kvalue, the fault classificationmodel based on theKNN and FRA is constructed and it is used to classify the degrees of DSV faults. The identification accuracy rate of the proposed model is up to 98.30%.Finally,the performance of the model is presented by comparing with the support vector machine(SVM),SVM optimized by the particle swarmoptimization(PSO-SVM)method,and randomforest(RF).The results show that the diagnosis accuracy of the proposed model is the highest and the model can be used to accurately diagnose the DSV fault degrees of the winding. 展开更多

This paper concerns the reconstruction of a function f in the Hardy space of the unit disc D by using a sample value f(a)and certain n-intensity measurements|<f,E_(a1…an)>|,where a_(1)…a_(n)∈D,and E_(a1…an)is the n-th term of the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of the Szego kernels k_(a1),k_(an),or their multiple forms.Three schemes are presented. The first two schemes each directly obtain all the function values f(z).In the first one we use Nevanlinna’s inner and outer function factorization which merely requires the 1-intensity measurements equivalent to know the modulus|f(z)|.In the second scheme we do not use deep complex analysis, but require some 2-and 3-intensity measurements. The third scheme,as an application of AFD,gives sparse representation of f(z)converging quickly in the energy sense, depending on consecutively selected maximal n-intensity measurements|<f,E_(a1…an)>|. 展开更多

Background Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has advantages in showing pathologic changes of disc space infection, which is important in clinical treatment. The purpose of this study was to describe the MRI findings of disc space infections in relation to chronicity. Methods MRI of 60 patients from January 1,2002 to April 30,2012 in Ottawa Hospital were retrospectively evaluated by two radiologists blindly. All patients had histological confirmation, with 55 having microbiological confirmation as well. These patients were divided into acute (n=18),subacute (n=21) and chronic (n=21) based on histological findings. The following potential signs of MRI finding were assessed:marrow edema, endplate erosions, disk fluid and height change, paraspinal mass, epidural collection, facet fluid and enhancement in the marrow, disc, paraspinal mass, and epidural involvement.Statistical analysis consisted of t-or F-tests and chi-square test. Results In the 60 patients,83 infected discs (single disc in 45 patients,2-4 discs in 15 patients) were found, including 22 discs in the acute group,30 discs in the subacute group, and 31 discs in the chronic group. There was a significant difference in the extent of marrow edema between the acute, subacute and chronic groups (P <0.05),with a gradually increasing extent from acute to chronic. The extent of endplate erosions increased with chronicity, but was not statistically significant. There were significant differences in the disc fluid, epidural collection, and disc enhancement among the acute, subacute and chronic groups,as well as the facet fluid between acute and chronic groups (P <0.05).There were no significant differences in the present probability of disc height loss, paraspinal mass, and marrow enhancement among the three groups (P >0.05).Conclusions From acute to chronic infections, the extent of marrow edema and endplate erosions appeared to gradually increase.Epidural collections and facet fluid are most frequently found in the acute group, while disc fluid and disc enhancement are more common in the chronic patients. 展开更多
