To determine the group-delay dispersion up to the fourth order, least-squares fitting was applied to the overall time waveform mapped on the time axis for the fingerprint-spectral broadband pulses through a long optical fiber. The analysis of all 4003 data points reduced statistical uncertainty, and provided second-, third-, and fourth-order dispersion with uncertainties of 0.02%, 0.4%, and 4%,respectively.展开更多

The nature of multimode and dispersion causes the wave packets to spread, and the modes overlap in both time and frequency domains as they propagate through the structures. By using a two-component laser interferometer technique, in combination with a priori knowledge of the dispersion characteristics and wave structure information of Lamb wave modes, a two-component signal processing technique is presented for implementing dispersion removal and mode separation simultaneously for two modes mixture signals of Lamb waves. The proposed algorithm is first processed and verified using synthetic Lamb wave signals. Then, the two-component displacements test experiment is conducted using different aluminum plate samples. Moreover, we confirm the effectiveness and robustness of this method.展开更多

Such bounds can be useful in ordering of random variables in terms of risk and in PERT analysis where there is only incomplete stochastic information concerning the variables under investigation. Explicit closed form solutions are also given involving alpha-unimodal random variables having a known mean for two particularly important measures of risk—the squared distance or variance, and the absolute deviation. In addition, optimal tight bounds are given for the probability of ruin in the collective risk model when the severity distribution has an alpha-unimodal distribution with known moments.展开更多

From the beginning of the current century up to date, the giant pulses of the pulsar in the Crab Nebula are regularly observed on the Large Phased Array of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory of the Lebedev Physical Institute at a frequency 111 MHz. The connection between the scattering time scale of radio pulses and the dispersion measure of the pulsar, which was established earlier together with Jodrell Bank, is confirmed. The observed variations in the scattering of radio pulses and their partial correlation with the dispersion measure are explained by the eclipse of the pulsar by dense plasma clouds with fluctuations in the electron density significantly exceeding the corresponding fluctuations in the interstellar medium. The question of a possible connection between period failers (glitches), dispersion measure variations, radio pulses scattering and gamma-ray flares is discussed.展开更多
