The SC is generated in a 4.2 km conventional dispersion-shifted fiber ( DSF), which is produced with nonlinear effects and group velocity dispersion. The DSF is pumped by an actively mode-locked Er3+ -doped fiber laser with pulse width of 7.97 ps. A novel SC pulse source with a bandwidth up to 125 nm is obtained, which covers the whole C, L bands and part of S band. The stable, narrow pulses with mean pulse-width of 9.7 ps and time-bandwidth product of 0.48 are filtered out across the whole SC bandwidth. This supercontinuum pulse source is suitable for future high-speed optical communications.展开更多

It is found that the harmonic dark pulse can be shifted from the fundamental to the 5th order harmonic by increasing the pump power with an appropriate polarization controller orientation. The fundamental repetition rate of 2O kHz is obtained at the pump power of 29 m W. The highest pulse energy of 42.6 n3 is obtained at the fundamental repetition rate. The operating frequency of the dark pulse trains shifts to 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th harmonic as the pump powers are increased to 34mW, 50mW, 59mW and 137mW, respectively.展开更多

SLM operation is obtained due to the spectral narrowing effect resulting from inverse four-wave mixing in a DSF. A tunable optical filter performs wavelength selection function. By inserting a length of DSF in the laser cavity, SLM lasing can possibly be obtained when laser oscillation is stably established after traveling through the DSF many roundtrips. Stable tunable SLM oscillation with a signal-to-noise ratio as high as 65 dB over a wavelength range of about 35 nm is achieved experimentally, and each spectral linewidth is less than 6.5 kHz.展开更多

A soliton mode-locked161 MHz high repetition rate fiber laser using a single wall carbon nanotube was fabricated. The output pulse was amplified in an Er-doped single mode fiber amplifier, and a 1.1–2.2 μm wideband supercontinuum(SC) with an average power of 205 m W was generated in highly nonlinear fiber. The spectrogram of the generated SC was examined both experimentally and numerically. The generated SC was focused into a nonlinear crystal, and stable generation of MIR comb around the 3 μm wavelength region was realized.展开更多

When the laser operated at APM, 5.45 ps of transform-limited pulse series were obtained. When the laser was biased at APL region, supermode noise was suppressed and the laser output was more stable.展开更多
