In this paper, the Doppler effect induced by rotating dispersive medium was considered and the effect of the velocity of rotating dispersive medium on the group velocity was studied. Based on a dispersive slow-light medium, a high sensitive optical rotation sensor for measuring absolute rotation is proposed and analysed. The sensitivity of the rotation sensor is the group delay between the counterpropagationed wave packets in the device, and scales directly with square of the group index which can reach 102-10s orders of magnitude by selecting a proper dispersive medium.展开更多

Numerical results are given to illustrate the dependence of spectral switches on the pulse parameters, truncation parameter and dispersive property of the medium. The potential application of spectral anomalies of ultrashort pulsed beams in information encoding and transmission is discussed.展开更多

The effect of the solubility of HA in the dispersion medium on crack occurrence and adherence of the coating was investigated by means of scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS). The results show that the solubility of HA in glycol is higher than that in ethanol. The usage of glycol as a dispersion medium can reduce the possibility of crack formation and enhance the adhesive strength between the coating and the carbon substrate. The green coatings can be sintered under vacuum at 1 000 ℃ whether the coatings are obtained using ethanol or glycol as dispersion medium. No HA decomposition was observed up to 1 000 ℃ by vacuum sintering by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis.展开更多

The measurements of the rheological characteristic, that is the shear stress of ERF, under shearing flow were performed with a Couette-type rheometer manufactured by HAAKE. It is proved that the rheological characteristic of the dispersion medium follows Newtonian fluid viscosity law and the ERF rheological characteristic of the mixture of the dispersion medium and dispersed phase obeys Bingham fluid model under electric field. The experimental result shows that the effects of different phase consistencies and different dispersion medium viscosities on ERF performances are great. The testing expressions of shear stress vs. electric field under different conditions have been obtained by polynomial fit, which is the theory foundation of application in engineering.展开更多

In addition, efficient sum-frequency output is achieved making use of total internal reflection with conversion efficiency of 7.9% by only one reflection. The experiment proposes a new phase-matching mode under an anomalous-like dispersion condition, which suggests potential applications in efficient frequency conversion.展开更多
