A kinetic model has been constructed which includes essentially all the important collisional ionization, photoionization, electron collisions and radiative interactions that come into play when lithium vapor (density range 1013?- 1014 cm-3) is subject to a sudden pulse of intense laser radiation (power range 105?- 106 W·cm-2) at wavelength 639.1 nm and pulse duration 20 ns. The applied computer simulation model is based on the numerical solution of the time-dependent Boltzman equation and a set of rate equations that describe the rate of change of the formed excited states populations. Using the measured values for the cross-sections and rate coefficients of each physical process considered in the model available in literature, relations are obtained as a function of the electron energy and included in the computational model. We have also studied the time evolution and the laser power dependences of the ion population (atomic and molecular ions) as well as the electron density which are produced during the interaction. The energy spectra of the electrons emerging from the interaction contains a number of peaks corresponding to the low-energy electrons produced by photoionization and collisional ionization such as assosicative and Penning ionization processes. The non-equilibrium shape of these electrons occurs due to relaxation of fast electrons produced by super-elastic collisions with residual excited lithium atoms. Moreover, a reasonable agreement between McGeoch results and our calculations for the temporal behaviour of the electron density is obtained.展开更多

It was observed that:1. The increase of Mg 2+ induced PSⅡ fluorescence intensity was closely related to the decrease of Mg 2+ induced surface charge density of the thylakoid membrane in the normal chloroplast; 2. Removal of the 32~34 kD polypeptides of the thylakoid surface by Ca 2+ extraction of the chloroplast did not affect the Mg 2+ induced phenomena; 3. If the Ca 2+ treated chloroplast was further digested by trypsin to remove the 26 kD polypeptide of the membrane surface, the Mg 2+ induced phenomena disappeared completely. These results clearly indicated that the 26 kD polypeptide of thylakoid surface is the specific acting site of the cation that induced these two correlated phenomena in the chloroplast from Zostera marina. The mechanism on the regulating effect of the cation on excitation energy distribution between PSⅡ and PSⅠ was discussed.展开更多

Accord- ing to the equation,we study the effect of cathode surface potential barrier on the electron energy distribution and find a significant effect of the barrier-Ⅰ thickness or end height, especially the thickness,on the quantum efficiency of the cath- ode. Barrier Ⅱ has an effect on the electron energy spread, and an increase in the vacuum level will lead to a narrower electron energy spread while sacrificing a certain amount of cathode quantum efficiency. The equation is also used to fit the measured electron energy distribution curve of the transmission-mode cathode and the parameters of the surface barri- er are obtained from the fitting. The theoretical curve is in good agreement with the experimental curve.展开更多

The beam is composed of a substrate and two piezoelectric layers and assumed as an Euler-Bernoulli model with inextensible deformation. A nonlinear distributed parameter model of cantilevered piezoelectric energy harvesters is proposed using the generalized Hamilton's principle. The proposed model includes geometric and inertia nonlinearity, but neglects the material nonlinearity. Using the Galerkin decomposition method and harmonic balance method, analytical expressions of the frequency-response curves are presented when the first bending mode of the beam plays a dominant role. Using these expressions, we investigate the effects of the damping, load resistance, electromechanical coupling, and excitation amplitude on the frequency-response curves. We also study the difference between the nonlinear lumped-parameter and distributed- parameter model for predicting the performance of the energy harvesting system. Only in the case of parametric excitation, we demonstrate that the energy harvesting system has an initiation excitation threshold below which no energy can be harvested. We also illustrate that the damping and load resistance affect the initiation excitation threshold.展开更多

This intuitively can save energy, space as well as cost. In this paper, we propose a simple and realistic NComputing architecture to study the energy and power-efficient consumption of desktop computer systems by using the NComputing device. We also propose new approaches to estimate the reliability of k-out-of-n systems based on the delta method. The k-out-of-n system consisting of n subsystems works if and only if at least k-of-the-n subsystems work. More specificly, we develop approaches to obtain the reliability estimation for the k-out-of-n systems which is composed of n independent and identically distributed subsystems where each subsystem (or energy-efficient usage application) can be assumed to follow a two-parameter exponential lifetime distribution function. The detailed derivations of reliability estimation of k-out-of-n systems based on the biased-corrected estimator, known as delta method, the uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimate (UMVUE) and maximum likelihood estimate (MLE) are discussed. An energy-management NComputing application is discussed to illustrate the reliability results in terms of the energy consumption usages of a computer system with qua(t-core, 8 GB of RAM, and a GeForce 9800GX-2 graphics card to perform various complex applications. The estimated reliability values of systems based on the UMVUE and the delta method differ only slightly. Often the UMVUE of reliability for a complex system is a lot more difficult to obtain, if not impossible. The delta method seems to be a simple and better approach to obtain the reliability estimation of complex systems. The results of this study also show that, in practice, the NComputing architecture improves both energy cost saving and energy efficient living spaces.展开更多

II distributed coordination function ( DCF) provides a contention-based distributed channel access mechanism for mobile stations to share the wireless medium. However, when stations are mobile or portable units, power consumption becomes a primary issue since terminals are usually battery driven. This paper proposes an analytical model that calculates the energy efficiency of both the basic and the RTS/CTS access mechanisms of the IEEE 802. II protocol. The model is validated with simulation results using NS-2 simulation package. The effects of the network size, the average packet length, the initial contention window and maximum backoff stages on the energy efficiency of both access mechanisms are also investigated. Results show that the basic scheme has low energy efficiency at large packet length and large network size, and depends strongly on the number of stations and the backoff procedure parameters. Conversely, the RTS/CTS mechanism provides higher energy efficiency when the network size is large, and is more robust to variations in the backoff procedure parameters.展开更多

In both cultivars of rice, the excitation energy distribution between two photosystems was altered and the excitation energy transfer from light harvesting chlorophyll protein complexes to PSⅡ was inhibited by high light stress. These decreases were more pronounced in indica rice cultivar as compared to japonica one. The analysis of mild SDS_PAGE showed that in indica rice, high light stress almost disaggregated the trimer of light harvesting chlorophyll protein complexes of PSⅡ (LHC Ⅱ 1). The stress reduced the contents of internal antennae chlorophyll protein complexes of PSⅡ (CPa), light harvesting chlorophyll protein of PSⅠ (CPⅠa) and Chl a protein complex of PSⅠ reaction center (CPⅠ) as well as dimer of LHCⅡ (LHCⅡ 2) in indica rice. In japonica subspecies, however, high light stress depressed the contents of LHCⅡ 1, CPa and CPⅠa, but slightly impacted on CPⅠ content. Moreover, the increase in the contents of monomer of LHCⅡ by high light stress was found in both subspecies. In consistent with above results, analysis of polypeptide indicated that the amounts of 27 kD and 25 kD polypeptide of LHCⅡ in particular, as well as that of 21 kD polypeptide of CPⅠa were reduced by high light stress in both subspecies. It was found that, comparing with japonica rice, the stress pronouncedly diminished 43 kD and 47 kD proteins of CPa and 23 kD extrisic protein in indica rice.展开更多

The absorption spectra at room temperature for the spinach and water hyacinth chloroplasts are similar, which show that different plants can efficiently absorb light of same wavelength. The low temperature steady_state fluorescence spectroscopy for the water hyacinth chloroplast reveals a poor balance of photon quantum between two photosystems. The fluorescence decays in PSⅡ measured at the natural Q A state for the chloroplasts have been fitted by a three_exponential kinetic model. The slow lifetime fluorescence component is assigned to a collection of associated light harvesting Chl a/b proteins, the fast lifetime component to the reaction center of PSⅡ and the middle lifetime component to the delay fluorescence of recombination of P + 680 and Pheo -. The excited energy conversion efficiency (η) in PSⅡ RC is 87% and 91% respectively for the water hyacinth and spinach chloroplasts calculated on the 20 ps model. This interesting result is not consistent with what is assumed that the efficiency is 100% in PSⅡ RC. The results in this paper also present a support for the 20 ps electron transfer time constant in PSⅡ RC. On the viewpoint of excitation energy conversion efficiency, the growing rate for the water hyacinth plan is smaller than that for the spinach plant. But, authors' results show those plants can perform highly efficient transfer of photo_excitation energy from the light_harvesting pigment system to the reaction center (approximately 100%).展开更多

But this enhancement, which might be due to the increase in either the number or the energy of electrons reaching the surface, is not clear at present. In this paper, the energy distributions of electrons in a varied doping photocathode and uniform doping photocathode before and after escaping from the cathode surface are analysed, and the number of electrons escaping from the surface in different cases is calculated for the two kinds of photocathodes. The results indicate that the varied doping structure can not only increase the number of electrons reaching the surface but also cause an offset of the electron energy distribution to high energy. That is the root reason for the enhancement of the quantum efficiency of a varied doping GaAs photocathode.展开更多

Moreover, a reasonable agreement between McGeoch results and our calculations for the temporal behaviour of the electron density is obtained.

It was found that, comparing with japonica rice, the stress pronouncedly diminished 43 kD and 47 kD proteins of CPa and 23 kD extrisic protein in indica rice.
文摘The authors have studied the spectroscopic characteristics and the fluorescence lifetime for the chloroplasts from spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart) Solms.) plant leaves by absorption spectra, low temperature steady_state fluorescence spectroscopy and single photon counting measurement under the same conditions. But, authors' results show those plants can perform highly efficient transfer of photo_excitation energy from the light_harvesting pigment system to the reaction center (approximately 100%).

文摘The built-in electric fields within a varied doping GaAs photocathode may promote the transport of electrons from the bulk to the surface, thus the quantum efficiency of the cathode can be enhanced remarkably. That is the root reason for the enhancement of the quantum efficiency of a varied doping GaAs photocathode.

文摘Mobile edge computing has emerged as a new paradigm to enhance computing capabilities by offloading complicated tasks to nearby cloud server. To conserve energy as well as maintain quality of service, low time complexity algorithm is proposed to complete task offloading and server allocation. In this paper,a multi-user with multiple tasks and single server scenario is considered for small network, taking full account of factors including data size, bandwidth, channel state information.Furthermore,we consider a multi-server scenario for bigger network, where the influence of task priority is taken into consideration. To jointly minimize delay and energy cost,we propose a distributed unsupervised learning-based offloading framework for task offloading and server allocation. We exploit a memory pool to store input data and corresponding decisions as key-value pairs for model to learn to solve optimization problems. To further reduce time cost and achieve near-optimal performance,we use convolutional neural networks to process mass data based on fully connected networks.Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than other offloading schemes, which can generate near-optimal offloading decision timely.

文摘In wireless sensor networks(WSNs),nodes are usually powered by batteries.Since the energy consumption directly impacts the network lifespan, energy saving is a vital issue in WSNs,especially in the designing phase of cryptographic algorithms. As a complementary mechanism, reputation has been applied to WSNs.Different from most reputation schemes that were based on beta distribution, negative multinomial distribution was deduced and its feasibility in the reputation modeling was proved.Through comparison tests with beta distribution based reputation in terms of the update computation, results show that the proposed method in this research is more energy-efficient for the reputation update and thus can better prolong the lifespan of WSNs.
