Ten medical students ...We studied the influence of doctor-patient communication skills training on brain functional architecture using resting-state functional MRI(rs-fMRI) with a regional homogeneity(ReHo) method. Ten medical students participated in the study. A 1-year long doctor-patient communication skills training program was conducted. RsfMRI data were collected at baseline, one month and one year after training. There was a significant increase in the communication skills test average scores between baseline and 1-month duration of training(P〈0.001). After one month of communication skills training, medical students had decreased ReHo in the right superior temporal gyrus compared with the baseline. After one year of communication skills training, students had increased ReHo in multiple regions and decreased ReHo in several regions(P 〈0.05, Alphasim corrected). The change of ReHo values in the superior temporal gyrus negatively correlated with the change of communication skills scale score between one month after communication skills training and baseline(r=-0.734, P= 0.036). The training program we used can be an effective approach of improving doctor-patient communication skills, and the training resulted in functional plasticity of the brain’s architecture toward optimizing locally functional organization.展开更多

However, inadequate functional health literacy among patients is a well-known barrier to effective doctor-patient communication, which has an adverse effect on health outcomes. This study aimed at investigating the association of functional health literacy and doctor-patient communication among HIV/AIDS patients in Homa Bay County, Kenya. It was a cross-sectional hospital-based survey conducted among 362 HIV/AIDS patients receiving care at the eight sub-county hospitals of Homa Bay county. Data was collected using a self-administered structured questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha and confirmatory factor analysis tests were used to ascertain the reliability and validity of study instruments, while Logistic regression logistic analysis was used to measure the association between functional health literacy and doctor-patient communication. 51% of the respondents were females, and the majority (30.9%) of respondents fell in the age group of 45 years and above. The respondents’ functional health literacy levels were inadequate at weighted means scores of 3.23 [SD 1.31]. The study further established that functional health literacy significantly influenced doctor-patient communication [Nagelkerke R square = 0.318]. There is, therefore, a need to document the determinants of functional health literacy to improve it and make doctor-patient interaction an enjoyable and meaningful experience.展开更多

After research, an indoor environment level monitoring system based on LoRa communication is designed. The system is mainly divided into two parts, the detection node, and the monitoring terminal. Temperature, humidity, light intensity, noise, formal-dehyde, and carbon dioxide are detected through the node with STM32F103ZET6 microcontroller as the controller;the data is sent to the monitoring terminal for display through LoRa communication. At the same time, the T-S fuzzy neural network (TSFNN) is improved by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to classify the indoor environment quality level. Experimental test: the total error of the improved TSFNN model test set is reduced by 8.6007. Data were collected through the...This study sought to find out the effects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on health service delivery at Tafo Government Hospital. A descriptive survey design was used. Data were collected through the use of semi-structured questionnaire and administered to 50 respondents where stratified random sampling technique was used by ranking position as strata. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. From the findings, 56% of the respondents overwhelmingly agreed to the fact that the applications of ICT provide quicker medical diagnoses, reduced workload among users, improvement in patients’ waiting time and information accessibility. Nonetheless, 72% bemoaned lack of ICT infrastructure, poor ICT network concerns coupled with that insufficient knowledge on the use of ICT could impede the impact of ICT in quality service delivery. This could be deduced from the findings that ICT improves collaboration and clinical decision support in facilitating clinical work flow integration among nurses and other medical professionals. Moreover, the findings above affirm the fact that without electricity, ICT infrastructure, insufficient skills and technical knowledge in dealing with ICT innovations, it is impossible to successfully adopt ICT resources in health care delivery. The above findings show that the majority of healthcare professional generally had a positive attitude towards ICT prospects as they rated their skill as fairly well. The study recommends that the Ministry of Health plays a supporting role by investing in health care ICT.展开更多

However, there exi...Most recently, due to the demand of immersive communication, region-of-interest-based(ROI) high efficiency video coding(HEVC) approaches in conferencing scenarios have become increasingly important. However, there exists no objective metric, specially developed for efficiently evaluating the perceived visual quality of video conferencing coding. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel objective quality assessment method, namely Gaussian mixture model based peak signal-tonoise ratio(GMM-PSNR), for the perceptual video conferencing coding. First, eye tracking experiments, together with a real-time technique of face and facial feature extraction, are introduced. In the experiments, importance of background, face, and facial feature regions is identified, and it is then quantified based on eye fixation points over test videos. Next, assuming that the distribution of the eye fixation points obeys Gaussian mixture model, we utilize expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm to generate an importance weight map for each frame of video conferencing coding, in light of a new term eye fixation points/pixel(efp/p). According to the generated weight map, GMM-PSNR is developed for quality assessment by assigning different weights to the distortion of each pixel in the video frame. Finally, we utilize some experiments to investigate the correlation of the proposed GMM-PSNR and other conventional objective metrics with subjective quality metrics. The experimental results show the effectiveness of GMM-PSNR.展开更多
The doctor-patient narrative has been revisited and appreciated in both the West and the East due to the negative impact of biochemical medicine in the past two centuries on healthcare.Biochemical medicine system simp...The doctor-patient narrative has been revisited and appreciated in both the West and the East due to the negative impact of biochemical medicine in the past two centuries on healthcare.Biochemical medicine system simply marginalized the roles of doctors and patients.More research and practice of“doctor's benevolence”and“humanistic medicine”have called for the return of the doctor-patient narrative.This paper draws on interviews with several non-Chinese overseas traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)practitioners,whose clients are also non-Chinese.We adopted discourse analysis to explore our data.We found that they actively engaged in doctor-patient narrative with localized interpretation of TCM.We believe such a return to basic doctor-patient narrative is caused by fundamental needs for doctor-patient narrative coinciding with loose control of TCM practices in the studied countries.This discovery may inspire further study on re-establishing doctor-patient narratives in healthcare institutions by re-positioning biochemical medicine.展开更多
BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs)are chronic diseases that demand continuous interaction between patients and healthcare providers.Quality of care(QoC)is a factor that contributes to a patient’s adherence ...BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs)are chronic diseases that demand continuous interaction between patients and healthcare providers.Quality of care(QoC)is a factor that contributes to a patient’s adherence to treatment and its success.AIM To evaluate QoC in patients from a single IBD reference center.METHODS This cross-sectional study included 133 patients from a single Brazilian IBD public health center.QoC was evaluated through the QoC Through the Eyes of Patients with IBD(QUOTE-IBD)questionnaire(based on patient perspectives),which measures eight dimensions of care.We compared QoC among patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and analyzed the clinical and psychological factors associated with QoC satisfaction.Clinical evaluations assessed disease characteristics,quality of life,anxiety,and depression levels.RESULTS Sixty-nine patients with Crohn’s disease and 64 with ulcerative colitis were interviewed.The mean age was 37.26 years±13.05 years,and 63.91%of the patients were women.The mean duration of the disease was 8.44 years±7.59 years,where most patients were in remission(70.31%of patients with ulcerative colitis and 62.32%with Crohn’s disease).The total QoC score of the sample was 8.61 years±1.31 points,indicating that the QoC provided by the center was unsatisfactory.According to univariate logistic regression,patients with Crohn’s disease had higher satisfaction rates than those with ulcerative colitis[odds ratio(OR):2.746;95%confidence interval(CI):1.360-5.541;P=0.0048]and patients on infliximab(OR:2.175;95%CI:1.037-4.562;P=0.0398).CONCLUSION Patients from the IBD public center reported good doctor-patient relationships,but had problems related to the healthcare structure.Evaluation of healthcare centers is of paramount to improve QoC for the patients involved.展开更多

That formally consists on providing water samples from desired depths of rivers, oceans, retention dams, etc. The prevailing limiting factor to achieve this feat is the length of our sampling pipes named Mbane Bathymetric Tube (MBT) designed for this purpose when rivers or retention dams are very deep. Providing drinking water to urban growing populations is a challenge that no government can escape. Therefore, improving the tools and techniques for water quality interpretation is an adequate advance for drinking water managerial techniques because this allows the recovery of contaminated water which abounds on the earth by acquiring appropriate wastewater treatment stations. The aim of the manuscript is to provide a brief theoretical description of our designed sampling equipment to allow everyone who is going to use it to solve in advance problems brought by Archimedes’ pressure force when experiencing the sampling pipes. Recommending high-quality news to users is vital in improving user stickiness and news platforms’reputation.However,existing news quality evaluation methods,such as clickbait detection and popularity prediction,are c...Recommending high-quality news to users is vital in improving user stickiness and news platforms’reputation.However,existing news quality evaluation methods,such as clickbait detection and popularity prediction,are challenging to reflect news quality comprehensively and concisely.This paper defines news quality as the ability of news articles to elicit clicks and comments from users,which represents whether the news article can attract widespread attention and discussion.Based on the above definition,this paper first presents a straightforward method to measure news quality based on the comments and clicks of news and defines four news quality indicators.Then,the dataset can be labeled automatically by the method.Next,this paper proposes a deep learning model that integrates explicit and implicit news information for news quality evaluation(EINQ).The explicit information includes the headline,source,and publishing time of the news,which attracts users to click.The implicit information refers to the news article’s content which attracts users to comment.The implicit and explicit information affect users’click and comment behavior differently.For modeling explicit information,the typical convolution neural network(CNN)is used to get news headline semantic representation.For modeling implicit information,a hierarchical attention network(HAN)is exploited to extract news content semantic representation while using the latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA)model to get the subject distribution of news as a semantic supplement.Considering the different roles of explicit and implicit information for quality evaluation,the EINQ exploits an attention layer to fuse them dynamically.The proposed model yields the Accuracy of 82.31%and the F-Score of 80.51%on the real-world dataset from Toutiao,which shows the effectiveness of explicit and implicit information dynamic fusion and demonstrates performance improvements over a variety of baseline models in news quality evaluation.This work provides empirical evidence for explicit and implicit factors in news quality evaluation and a new idea for news quality evaluation.展开更多

We propose a fast estimator for these parameters whose computational complexity is three orders lower than that of the optimal estimator with only a slight loss in accuracy thus enabling real- time execution. We show that using the most recent local mean of the signal as a predictor of future signal strength is also a very close approximation to the optimal predictor. This is the central result of this paper. It obviates the need for complex and/or computationally intensive link quality predictors for 802.11 in urban microcells and has the advantage of not requiring node speed information. The LQPRs are evaluated against the lower error bound. We show that the LQPR based on the most recent local mean of the signal predicts the packet reception probability for pedestrians in urban microcells on average with a mean absolute error of 13.47%, 16.54%, 18.21% and 19.38% for 1 s, 2 s, 3 s and 4 s into the future respectively. This LQP accuracy resembles closely the lower error bound with, for example, a difference of only 2.47% at 2 s into the future.展开更多

At the same time, the T-S fuzzy neural network (TSFNN) is improved by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to classify the indoor environment quality level. Experimental test: the total error of the improved TSFNN model test set is reduced by 8.6007. The system can monitor the indoor environment level objectively and reliably, and has high practical value.
文摘This study sought to find out the effects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on health service delivery at Tafo Government Hospital. A descriptive survey design was used. Data were collected through the use of semi-structured questionnaire and administered to 50 respondents where stratified random sampling technique was used by ranking position as strata. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. From the findings, 56% of the respondents overwhelmingly agreed to the fact that the applications of ICT provide quicker medical diagnoses, reduced workload among users, improvement in patients’ waiting time and information accessibility. Nonetheless, 72% bemoaned lack of ICT infrastructure, poor ICT network concerns coupled with that insufficient knowledge on the use of ICT could impede the impact of ICT in quality service delivery. This could be deduced from the findings that ICT improves collaboration and clinical decision support in facilitating clinical work flow integration among nurses and other medical professionals. Moreover, the findings above affirm the fact that without electricity, ICT infrastructure, insufficient skills and technical knowledge in dealing with ICT innovations, it is impossible to successfully adopt ICT resources in health care delivery. The above findings show that the majority of healthcare professional generally had a positive attitude towards ICT prospects as they rated their skill as fairly well. The study recommends that the Ministry of Health plays a supporting role by investing in health care ICT.
文摘When solving the routing problem with traditional ant colony algorithm, there is scarce in initialize pheromone and a slow convergence and stagnation for the complex network topology and the time-varying characteristics of channel in power line carrier communication of low voltage distribution grid. The algorithm is easy to fall into premature and local optimization. Proposed an automatic network algorithm based on improved transmission delay and the load factor as the evaluation factors. With the requirements of QoS, a logical topology of power line communication network is established. By the experiment of MATLAB simulation, verify that the improved Dynamic hybrid ant colony genetic algorithm (DH_ACGA) algorithm has improved the communication performance, which solved the QoS routing problems of power communication to some extent.
文摘Most recently, due to the demand of immersive communication, region-of-interest-based(ROI) high efficiency video coding(HEVC) approaches in conferencing scenarios have become increasingly important. However, there exists no objective metric, specially developed for efficiently evaluating the perceived visual quality of video conferencing coding. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel objective quality assessment method, namely Gaussian mixture model based peak signal-tonoise ratio(GMM-PSNR), for the perceptual video conferencing coding. First, eye tracking experiments, together with a real-time technique of face and facial feature extraction, are introduced. In the experiments, importance of background, face, and facial feature regions is identified, and it is then quantified based on eye fixation points over test videos. Next, assuming that the distribution of the eye fixation points obeys Gaussian mixture model, we utilize expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm to generate an importance weight map for each frame of video conferencing coding, in light of a new term eye fixation points/pixel(efp/p). According to the generated weight map, GMM-PSNR is developed for quality assessment by assigning different weights to the distortion of each pixel in the video frame. Finally, we utilize some experiments to investigate the correlation of the proposed GMM-PSNR and other conventional objective metrics with subjective quality metrics. The experimental results show the effectiveness of GMM-PSNR.

文摘The doctor-patient narrative has been revisited and appreciated in both the West and the East due to the negative impact of biochemical medicine in the past two centuries on healthcare.Biochemical medicine system simply marginalized the roles of doctors and patients.More research and practice of“doctor's benevolence”and“humanistic medicine”have called for the return of the doctor-patient narrative.This paper draws on interviews with several non-Chinese overseas traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)practitioners,whose clients are also non-Chinese.We adopted discourse analysis to explore our data.We found that they actively engaged in doctor-patient narrative with localized interpretation of TCM.We believe such a return to basic doctor-patient narrative is caused by fundamental needs for doctor-patient narrative coinciding with loose control of TCM practices in the studied countries.This discovery may inspire further study on re-establishing doctor-patient narratives in healthcare institutions by re-positioning biochemical medicine.

文摘BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs)are chronic diseases that demand continuous interaction between patients and healthcare providers.Quality of care(QoC)is a factor that contributes to a patient’s adherence to treatment and its success.AIM To evaluate QoC in patients from a single IBD reference center.METHODS This cross-sectional study included 133 patients from a single Brazilian IBD public health center.QoC was evaluated through the QoC Through the Eyes of Patients with IBD(QUOTE-IBD)questionnaire(based on patient perspectives),which measures eight dimensions of care.We compared QoC among patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and analyzed the clinical and psychological factors associated with QoC satisfaction.Clinical evaluations assessed disease characteristics,quality of life,anxiety,and depression levels.RESULTS Sixty-nine patients with Crohn’s disease and 64 with ulcerative colitis were interviewed.The mean age was 37.26 years±13.05 years,and 63.91%of the patients were women.The mean duration of the disease was 8.44 years±7.59 years,where most patients were in remission(70.31%of patients with ulcerative colitis and 62.32%with Crohn’s disease).The total QoC score of the sample was 8.61 years±1.31 points,indicating that the QoC provided by the center was unsatisfactory.According to univariate logistic regression,patients with Crohn’s disease had higher satisfaction rates than those with ulcerative colitis[odds ratio(OR):2.746;95%confidence interval(CI):1.360-5.541;P=0.0048]and patients on infliximab(OR:2.175;95%CI:1.037-4.562;P=0.0398).CONCLUSION Patients from the IBD public center reported good doctor-patient relationships,but had problems related to the healthcare structure.Evaluation of healthcare centers is of paramount to improve QoC for the patients involved.
文摘In a fluid (liquid or gas) at rest, the isobars are horizontal surface. This fluid dynamic balance theorem provides adequate advance to tools and techniques for Water Quality Interpretation. We deal in this paper, with an effective way of exploiting the familiar communicating containers’ principle. That formally consists on providing water samples from desired depths of rivers, oceans, retention dams, etc. The prevailing limiting factor to achieve this feat is the length of our sampling pipes named Mbane Bathymetric Tube (MBT) designed for this purpose when rivers or retention dams are very deep. Providing drinking water to urban growing populations is a challenge that no government can escape. Therefore, improving the tools and techniques for water quality interpretation is an adequate advance for drinking water managerial techniques because this allows the recovery of contaminated water which abounds on the earth by acquiring appropriate wastewater treatment stations. The aim of the manuscript is to provide a brief theoretical description of our designed sampling equipment to allow everyone who is going to use it to solve in advance problems brought by Archimedes’ pressure force when experiencing the sampling pipes. Archimedes’ pressure force acts mainly when moving the sampling pipes to water lower levels and then opening its protective cover which allows the communication with the supply dam.

文摘Recommending high-quality news to users is vital in improving user stickiness and news platforms’reputation.However,existing news quality evaluation methods,such as clickbait detection and popularity prediction,are challenging to reflect news quality comprehensively and concisely.This paper defines news quality as the ability of news articles to elicit clicks and comments from users,which represents whether the news article can attract widespread attention and discussion.Based on the above definition,this paper first presents a straightforward method to measure news quality based on the comments and clicks of news and defines four news quality indicators.Then,the dataset can be labeled automatically by the method.Next,this paper proposes a deep learning model that integrates explicit and implicit news information for news quality evaluation(EINQ).The explicit information includes the headline,source,and publishing time of the news,which attracts users to click.The implicit information refers to the news article’s content which attracts users to comment.The implicit and explicit information affect users’click and comment behavior differently.For modeling explicit information,the typical convolution neural network(CNN)is used to get news headline semantic representation.For modeling implicit information,a hierarchical attention network(HAN)is exploited to extract news content semantic representation while using the latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA)model to get the subject distribution of news as a semantic supplement.Considering the different roles of explicit and implicit information for quality evaluation,the EINQ exploits an attention layer to fuse them dynamically.The proposed model yields the Accuracy of 82.31%and the F-Score of 80.51%on the real-world dataset from Toutiao,which shows the effectiveness of explicit and implicit information dynamic fusion and demonstrates performance improvements over a variety of baseline models in news quality evaluation.This work provides empirical evidence for explicit and implicit factors in news quality evaluation and a new idea for news quality evaluation.
文摘In this paper we derive the optimal link quality predictor (LQPR) whose parameters are estimated from signal power and node speed samples. We propose a fast estimator for these parameters whose computational complexity is three orders lower than that of the optimal estimator with only a slight loss in accuracy thus enabling real- time execution. We show that using the most recent local mean of the signal as a predictor of future signal strength is also a very close approximation to the optimal predictor. This is the central result of this paper. It obviates the need for complex and/or computationally intensive link quality predictors for 802.11 in urban microcells and has the advantage of not requiring node speed information. The LQPRs are evaluated against the lower error bound. We show that the LQPR based on the most recent local mean of the signal predicts the packet reception probability for pedestrians in urban microcells on average with a mean absolute error of 13.47%, 16.54%, 18.21% and 19.38% for 1 s, 2 s, 3 s and 4 s into the future respectively. This LQP accuracy resembles closely the lower error bound with, for example, a difference of only 2.47% at 2 s into the future.
