Although the surgical techniques were first utilized clinically 15 years ago, the application of living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) has been somewhat limited by the steep learning curve associated with developing a program. Clinical success with LDLT in children was realized early, but the application of the techniques to adult patients has only occurred more recently.
