Here we constructed the recombinant Edmonston strain of measles virus (MV-Ed) that expressed hepatitis C virus (HCV) envelope proteins (rMV-E1E2). The rMV-E1E2 successfully expressed HCV E1 and E2 proteins. To evaluate its immunogenicity, NOD/Scid/Jak3null mice that were engrafted with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (huPBMC-NOJ) were infected with this rMV-E1E2. Although human lymphocytes could be isolated from the spleens of mock-infected mice during the 2-weeks-long experiment, the proportion of mice that were infected with MV or rMV-E1E2 was decreased in a viral dose-dependent manner. Over 103 PFU of virus infection decreased the human PBL to less than 5%. Significant decrease of B cell population in human PBL from rMV-E1E2 infected NOD-SCID mice and decrease of T cell population in those from MV infected mice were observed. Human antibody production in these mice was also examined. Thus, the results in this study may contribute for future improvement of recombinant vaccine using measles virus vector.展开更多

German cellular operators, DeTeMobil, Mannesmann, E-Plus and VIAG Interkom, built D1-, D2-, E1-and E2-Netze based on GSM standards made in Europe. China Unicom was created in 1994 and China Telecom was separated from MPT in 1995. China Telecom and China Unicom competed in a duopoly from the mid-1990s onwards and the cellular services provided by them also rely on GSM standards. China Telecom additionally deployed XLT technology (PHS) from the late 1990s onwards. While DeTeMobil and Mannesmann conquered approximately 80%-90% of the market throughout the 1990s and were the two dominant market players in Germany, China's cellular market was mainly controlled by China Mobile. In Germany, prices related to cellular technology continued the downwards trend as a major result of the process of deregulation, liberalisation and competition. In China, price wars had led to significant price reductions in the cellular market. Although network operators in both countries strived to deliver differentiated cellular services, the two national markets in the 1990s were visibly shaped by product homogeneity.展开更多

These compounds are able to disrupt the reproductive systems of living organisms at trace concentrations(ng·L^(–1)). This experiment tests the hypothesis that 1% slow pyrolysis biochar-amended sandy soil could retain significant amount of estrogens(E1, E2)from poultry manure in its second year of application. The experiment was conducted over 46 days and consisted of a series of lysimeters containing sandy soil with biocharamended topsoil. The application rate of poultry manure was kept at 2.47 kg·m^(–2). The biochar held a significant concentration of hormone during the first year of its application. However, in the following year(current study), there was no significant retention of hormones in the biochar-amended soil. During the first year after application, the biochar was fresh, so its pores were available for hydrophobic interactions and held significant concentration of hormones. As time passed there were several biotic and abiotic changes on the surface of the biochar so that after some physical fragmentation, pores on the surface were no longer available for hydrophobic interactions. The biochar started releasing dissolved organic carbon, which facilitated greater mobility of hormones from poultry manure down the soil profile.展开更多
