Under the background of globalization,there are severe challenges in the cultivation of the professional skills of nursing staff,especially the English skills of foreign-related nursing,which has become an important p...Under the background of globalization,there are severe challenges in the cultivation of the professional skills of nursing staff,especially the English skills of foreign-related nursing,which has become an important part of the training of nursing talents.At present,most English teaching of foreign-related nursing in higher vocational colleges follows the traditional grammar teaching model.However,as most of the teaching staff for medical English are English teachers who have limited nursing professional knowledge,the industry characteristics of medical English are not fully demonstrated in the teaching process,and the lack of practicality inevitably reduces the quality of medical English teaching.Therefore,the traditional nursing English teaching model in higher vocational colleges can no longer meet the actual teaching needs.There is an urgent need to implement an interdisciplinary team teaching model that completely fits the industry environment of foreign-related nursing English and apply it flexibly to improve the quality of foreign-related nursing English teaching in higher vocational colleges,and lay a solid foundation for professional practice of nursing staff.Based on the perspective of ecolinguistics,this article explores the application strategies of the interdisciplinary team teaching model for foreign-related nursing English in higher vocational colleges,with the view to provide guidelines for the actual teaching of foreign-related nursing English.展开更多

As we all know,environmental breakdown is rooted in capitalism’s quest for perpetual growth.According to O’Connor(quoted in Büscher et al 2010/2013,p.3)the“environmental crisis has given liberal capitalist soc...As we all know,environmental breakdown is rooted in capitalism’s quest for perpetual growth.According to O’Connor(quoted in Büscher et al 2010/2013,p.3)the“environmental crisis has given liberal capitalist society a new lease on life.”He continues:“Now,through purporting to take in hand the saving of the environment,capitalism invents a new legitimation for itself:the sustainable and rational use of nature”.“Those who hold the power and they are not all heads of state,see themselves as saviours of the world,and offer the population the opportunity of becoming their clients”is how John Berger has referred to such cognitive dissonance.Critical discourse analysis and corpus linguistics are employed to scrutinize a powerful corporation’s website.This company produces and distributes food globally.The story it presents to the world maintains that it protects animal welfare,the environment and people,among other things,in all its operations.The language it employs on its corporate websites will be subjected to close analysis.展开更多

This paper explores a special type of Chinese linguistic phenomenon used very popularly on the Internet,i.e.,the superposed Chinese sequence(SCS),such as又双叒叕as in我们又双叒叕要换首相了(we are going to have a new P...This paper explores a special type of Chinese linguistic phenomenon used very popularly on the Internet,i.e.,the superposed Chinese sequence(SCS),such as又双叒叕as in我们又双叒叕要换首相了(we are going to have a new Prime Minister ONCE AGAIN!).Different from emoticons or emojis,SCS uses normal Chinese characters,but these characters do not totally observe the phonetic,lexical,and syntactic rules in standard Chinese.While emphasizing the pictographic features of SCS,which are typical of Chinese,the correlation between SCS and the environment is explicated from the perspective of ecolinguistics.It is pointed out that many factors in the environment are affecting the creation and popularization of SCS.With the proposition of the classification of stable and dynamic factors,four major intermediate statuses are presented,which an examination of whether SCS might develop into a standard Chinese usage or just disappear when it gets out of date.展开更多
