Research and Practice of Artificial Intelligence-Based Hybrid Teaching of College English

The application of artificial intelligence technology in teaching can provide flexible and appropriate auxiliary support under appropriate spatiotemporal conditions by analyzing learners’learning behaviors,outcomes,and the virtual and real environments they are in based on their needs.Most domestic schools have introduced artificial intelligence technology in college English teaching,building a new teaching ecology integrated with mobile devices and online teaching platforms.This article analyzes the support of artificial intelligence for college English teaching,applies artificial intelligence technology in pre-class preparation,in-class teaching,and post-class feedback of hybrid teaching,optimizes students’learning effectiveness,enriches teaching materials,and conducts fair classroom behavior evaluations,promoting teachers to more comprehensively grasp teaching dynamics and effectively manage student classroom behavior.

Exploring Pedagogical Ideologies and Strategies for College English Writing Instruction from a Generative Artificial Intelligence Perspective

This study,drawing on the commonalities between generative artificial intelligence and foreign language writing instruction,outlines the core ideology of digital humanities-based college English writing instruction,including auxiliary use of generative artificial intelligence tools,primary focus on humanistic education,and the re-production of knowledge,aiming to foster students’critical thinking,collaborative skills,and creativity.Building on this foundation,the study delves into generative artificial intelligence tools applicable to different stages of process-genre writing and their strategic applications.The use of generative artificial intelligence tools is beneficial for students to present,discuss,and share writing content,encouraging them to enhance their writing,collaboration,critical thinking,and creative abilities through deep interaction with model essays and creative discourses.

Stylistic features of cell-phone short messages in English and their translation

Cell-phone short messages in English possess special styles. Some are in a literary style, and others in a non-literary one. In the present paper, the stylistic features of English short messages are illustrated by applying the stylistic theory and employing the ＂Model of Analyzing Textual Function＂. The features of the two styles of messages are described and analyzed from the perspectives of their pronunciation, graphology, vocabulary, grammar, discourse, rhetoric, etc., and the stylistic features serve as the basis for discussing the translation principles and methods of English short messages.

Spelling Errors in University Students' English Writing

This paper investigated the spelling errors made by university students in Hong Kong.By analyzing the spelling errors in the untimed essays and exam scripts,we found that students are prone to make more spelling mistakes in exam scripts,the same type of errors occur in both of the two kinds of texts;and their ranks of the frequency also are the same.

Study on how to learn English well from the perspective of cognitive linguistics for college students

This paper discusses the theoretical and practical guidance of cognitive linguistics in the college students＇ English learning. It mainly deals with the English listening on the basis of metcognition, the practice of cognitive linguistics in oral English learning, the practice of cognitive linguistics in English reading, the learning strategy of English writing on the basis of cognitive linguistics and the practice of cognitive linguistics in English translation. The paper draws the conclusion that in any aspects of English learning, i.e. listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, cognitive linguistics could be practiced. When cognitive linguistics is applied in English learning, the learners can break through the bottlenecks of college English study.

Multiple Intelligence Theory in the English Classroom

In his book of 1983,Dr.Howard Gardner proposes the Multiple Intelligence theory which has been thought as having important implication for education.It contends loudly that every part of the identified intelligences is an important and equally valid aspect of human existence and learning of a language.Today,more and more educators use this theory in their classroom.The use of seven distinct capacities of this theory in English classroom will be discussed in this article.

ELL2基因多态性与涎腺多形性腺瘤易感性的相关性分析

目的分析ELL2基因1119T>C多态性与涎腺多形性腺瘤易感性之间的相关性。方法绘制涎腺多形性腺瘤家系,对涎腺多形性腺瘤家系中5个成员的ELL2基因外显子进行测序;采用病例对照研究,将2016年1月-2020年7月就诊于山西白求恩医院口腔颌面外科的112例涎腺多形性腺瘤患者作为病例组,以年龄、性别为匹配条件,将2019年1月-2020年1月该院176名健康体检者作为对照组。高分辨熔解曲线(HRM)检测两组ELL2基因1119T>C多态性;采用χ2检验分析基因多态性与涎腺多形性腺瘤发生之间的相关性,分层分析评估吸烟与基因型的协同作用;并采用实时定量反转录聚合酶链反应(RT-PCR)检测不同基因型个体ELL2的表达水平。结果涎腺多形性腺瘤家系中ELL2基因第8外显子存在1119T>C多态性位点。病例对照研究结果显示,涎腺多形性腺瘤患者该位点纯合子CC基因频率明显高于对照组(24.1%vs.11.9%,P=0.002)。纯合子CC与涎腺多形性腺瘤发生风险增加相关(OR=3.059,95%CI 1.494~6.263)。分层分析显示,吸烟与1119C等位基因协同作用可增加涎腺多形性腺瘤发生的风险(OR=3.200,95%CI 1.460~7.014)。CC基因型个体ELL2 mRNA表达水平明显高于CT或TT基因型个体(P<0.05)。结论ELL2基因变异可能在涎腺多形性腺瘤的发生中起重要作用,吸烟联合1119C等位基因可增加涎腺多形性腺瘤的发病风险。

Linguistic Dimensions of Accentedness,Comprehensibility and Intelligibility:Exploring Listener Effects in American,Moroccan,Turkmen and Chinese Varieties of English

The present study examines accentedness, comprehensibility, and intelligibility of American English, Moroccan English, Turkmen English, and Chinese English, from the perspectives of three groups of listeners: native speakers of English and Chinese speakers of English with or without international experiences. Of the 145 listeners, 38 had face-to-face interviews. These listener groups were asked to listen to the recordings of the four English varieties and fill in a cloze test.Results indicated that the three listener groups differed significantly in rating comprehensibility of American English, Moroccan English and Chinese English but they did not give Turkmen English statistically different ratings;there were no significant differences in accentedness ratings except for Chinese English;and there were significant differences in the intelligibility scores of the four English varieties. In addition, with respect to seven linguistic variables-speed, clarity, intonation,smoothness and fluency, vocal intensity, pause, vocabulary and grammar, there were significant differences in three listener groups’ rating of six variables in American English except the one of“speed”. By contrast, Chinese English received significantly different ratings only in “proper speed”. No differences were found in the ratings for Moroccan English and Turkmen English.Finally, unlike Chinese listeners without international experiences, native listeners and Chinese listeners with international experiences shared some similarities in correlations between the ratings of accentedness and comprehensibility and those of linguistic variables on Moroccan English,Turkmen English, and Chinese English. However, the results for American English from Chinese listeners without international experiences and native listeners seemed to be more alike. Linguistic variables correlating with accentedness and comprehensibility of American English showed a mixed profile. Qualitative data provided more variant elaborations on the pronunciations and language uses of the speakers.

Analysis of phonological factors in English misspelling

The spelling mistakes in English writing are closely related to the incorrect pronunciation of the students, such as misuse of pronunciation rules of Chinese and English, overuse of the rules and coinage. This paper, on the basis of the analysis of the compositions of the college students, tries to find out how much mispronunciation affects misspelling, analyze the possible causes, and then put forward some suggestions on how to improve English spelling of the students.

How to Cultivate an Excellent English-Teacher-in-Future?-A Study on the Changes on Pre-service Language Teacher Identity During the Practicum

For the teacher’s professional development,identity plays a crucial role in promoting the teacher’s maturity and skills.For pre-service teachers,the level of identity determines whether they are willing or even determined to take teaching as their future career,and also represents whether their professional development is smooth.Therefore,the research on pre-service teachers’identity is of great significance.Combining quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis,this study aims to explore whether the identity of pre-service English teachers changes before and after the practicum and the influencing factors during the practicum through questionnaire surveys and semi-structured interviews.Based on the four dimensions of identity proposed by Xun,Sun,and Peng(2014),this study investigated the juniors before their practice and the seniors who had practiced for two months.It is found that the scores of careers belonging,foreign language teaching belief,English proficiency,work involvement,professional behaviour tendency,and foreign language teaching reform are higher than those of the students before the practicum.Through semi-structured interviews,it can be concluded that the factors affecting identity include personal factors,mentor factors,job content,and organizational support factors.According to the survey results,this study puts forward corresponding suggestions to improve the positive impact of practicum on students’identity.

A Study on English Humor in The Ellen DeGeneres Show from the Perspective of Cooperative Principle

English humor is a popular way of communication. A pragmatic study of English humor should be based on naturally occurring humor to the greatest extent as far as possible,which makes the live talk show a best choice,and the most popular of which is in America,namely The Ellen DeGeneres Show. From the perspective of the CP,this tentative study explores the generative mech-anism of verbal humor,hoping to provide some useful suggestions to better understand the generative mechanism of verbal humor and meaningful reference for the language users.

Intelligent Teaching Design Management of College English from the Perspective of Educational Ecology

A Study on the College English Learning Strategies Based on Intellectual Teaching Platforms

Taking Leshan Normal University as an example,the investigation has been conducted in this paper on the use of learning strategies of more than 3,000 non-English majors in the process of English learning.Based on the analysis of the survey results,this paper discusses the necessity of college English learning strategy cultivation under the new situation,focusing on the cultivation approaches to college English learning strategy through intelligent teaching platforms,aiming to cultivate student’s awareness of using learning strategies,strengthen their according ability,and improve their English level.
