Five trends of education and technology in a sustainable future

Quality education is one of the pillars in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.This overall goal can be connected to some general trends affecting education in the information age.We argue that education is key to the future quality of human life and the sustainability of the world.Generally,education is being transformed in both formal and informal learning contexts by new digital technologies.Overall,some of these major innovations and how they are changing education can be summarized into the following aspects:1)our educational aims and objectives;2)educational ecologies and contexts of learning;3)the processes of learning;4)the processes of teaching;and 5)educational governance and policy.Meanwhile,we note some of the potential risks and downsides of these technology trends.From the sustainable perspective,our review points to a great potential for educational reform,but it can only be achieved if we are willing to rethink and even abandon some of our traditional ways of doing things in education.

COVID-19 and Learning Styles: GCET as Case Study

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused higher educational institutions around the world to close campus-based activities and move to online delivery.The aim of this paper is to present the case of Global College of Engineering and Technology(GCET)and how its practices including teaching,students/staff support,assessments,and exam policies were affected.The paper investigates the mediating role of no detriment policy impact on students’result along with the challenges faced by the higher educational institution,recommendations and suggestions.The investigation concludes that the strategies adopted for online delivery,student support,assessments and exam policies have helped students to effectively cope with the teaching and learning challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic without affecting their academic results.The study shows that 99%of students were able to maintain the same or better level of performance during the 1st COVID-19 semester.One percent of students had shown a slight decrease in their performance(about 1%–2%)with respect to their overall marks pre-COVID-19.The no detriment policy has succoured those 1%of the students to maintain their overall performance to what it used to be pre-COVID-19 pandemic.Finally,the paper provides the list of challenges and suggestions for smooth conduction of online education.

美国《早期学习与教育技术政策简报》是关于幼年学习者使用技术的政策简报,回应了“α世代”信息化生存问题,解答了“21世纪,儿童获得技术是必要的,但还不够”现实难题。该政策简报中愿景、早期学习者技术使用指导原则和呼吁行动三部分分别从本简报出台的初心、如何指导幼儿恰当使用技术,呼吁社会各界力量协同实现本简报的初心等方面进行阐述。美国《早期学习与教育技术政策简报》对提升我国学前教育信息化水平、提高幼儿园教师信息素养和构建幼儿信息化生态系统,满足我国学前教育利益相关者的“技术促进学习”时代诉求等方面提供有益参考。

高质量发展视角下网络学习资源进化预警系统设计

网络学习资源是数字教育资源公共服务体系不可或缺的组成部分,是保证教育信息化高质量发展的核心要素之一。现阶段网络学习资源建设暴露出资源进化不足、进化质量不高和进化不及时等问题。网络学习资源进化智能预警系统是解决以上难题的关键。文章基于知识进化理论和危机管理理论,构建了面向大规模开放协同环境的网络学习资源进化预警系统框架,设计了系统的主要功能模型,开发了网络学习资源进化预警原型系统。通过SUS系统可用性问卷调查和半结构式访谈,初步检验了网络学习资源进化预警原型系统设计的可行性和合理性,期望能为未来网络学习资源进化的智能预警实现提供参考,并为教育信息化2.0时代网络学习资源的智能管理与高质量发展提供指导。

目标引领与管理协调——来自美国“力争上游——早期学习挑战”计划的政策启示

“力争上游——早期学习挑战”计划是奥巴马政府有关早期教育改革的重点，也是美国迄今最大的联邦学前教育投资计划，助推了美国学前教育的改革与发展。本研究从出台背景、着力重心、执行情况三方面，对美国“力争上游——早期学习挑战”计划进行了梳理，并进一步分析了该计划的特点：在政策目标导向上，彰显全纳与优质的核心理念；在政策执行机制上，建立协调一致的管理网络，并突出教育部门的主导地位。这一计划对完善我国学前教育政策具有一定的启示意义。
