Despite the widespread incorporation of sustainable development into policy discourses, actually achieving the win-win-win scenario of economic, environmental and social development continues to be problematic. Advocates of industrial ecology suggest that shifting the basis of industrial production from a linear to a closed loop system, these gains can be achieved. In recent years, concepts drawn from industrial ecology have been used to plan and develop eeo-industrial parks (EIPs) that seek to increase business competitiveness, reduce waste and pollution, create jobs and improve working conditions. Despite a growing interest in EIPs, there have been few empirically informed studies that seek to explore the potential contribution such EIPs may make to sustainable development. This paper contributes to a developing sympathetic critique of industrial ecology by focusing on the key problems and dilemmas that arise in the course of developing eco-industrial parks, drawing upon empirical work conducted in China. The paper draws upon both an extensive survey of EIPs and in-depth interviews conducted with a range of stakeholders at some sites in China. As the paper reveals, EIPs in China are in their early stages and likewise their contribution to economic development and environmental policy, let alone social policies, is complicated and inchoate. The empirical material reveals that key features of industrial ecology such as inter-firm networking and collaboration in the form of materials interchange and energycascading are either absent or in the early planning stages. In each of the cases studied what is emerging is a form of EIP partly determined by the geographic setting and broader economic realities of the locality. While collaborative behavior between firms is central to EIP development if the potential benefits of industrial ecology are to be realized, it is important to realize that such behavior is difficult to develop from scratch through policy intervention. In conclusion, the paper suggests that expectations must be realistic for the community and location in question. As part of that realism, EIP projects must be designed to allow for a gradual approach, and each phase needs to be financially viable. 展开更多

Sustainable waste management in the industrial ecology perspective brings enormous challenges to the existing methodology of waste analysis at the industrial park (IP) scale. In this study, a four-step method was proposed for industrial solid waste (ISW) flow analysis of eco-industrial parks (EIPs) and applied to two IPs in eastern China. According to a park-wide census of 619 industrial enterprises and 105 questionnaires by a survey from 2006 to 2008, the results indicated that: 1) at the enterprise scale, more than 60% of enterprises were small- ISW-generation enterprises which encountered great difficulties on effective waste management; 2) at the IP scale, though the two IPs have set up their own environmental management systems and passed the ISO 14001 certification, the efficiencies of the ISW manage- ment systems have yet to be improved in the industrial ecology perspective; and 3) at the regional scale, more than 97% of ISW flowed within the provincial region, indicating that the provincial governments prevented the wastes from flowing into their own "back yard". Effective waste management should be placed in a broader perspective. Approaches to sustainable waste management may include wastes exchange, efficient waste and information flow, virtual EIP, waste minimization clubs and regionalization of waste management. 展开更多

Terrain or climate factor dominates vegetation resilience?Evidence from three national parks across different climatic zones in China

Vegetation resilience(VR),providing an objective measure of ecosystem health,has received considerable attention,however,there is still limited understanding of whether the dominant factors differ across different climate zones.We took the three national parks(Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park,HTR;Wuyishan National Park,WYS;and Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park,NTL)of China with less human interference as cases,which are distributed in different climatic zones,including tropical,subtropical and temperate monsoon climates,respectively.Then,we employed the probabilistic decay method to explore the spatio-temporal changes in the VR and their natural driving patterns using Geographically Weighted Regression(GWR)model as well.The results revealed that:(1)from 2000 to 2020,the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)of the three national parks fluctuated between 0.800 and 0.960,exhibiting an overall upward trend,with the mean NDVI of NTL(0.923)>HTR(0.899)>WYS(0.823);(2)the positive trend decay time of vegetation exceeded that of negative trend,indicating vegetation gradual recovery of the three national parks since 2012;(3)the VR of HTR was primarily influenced by elevation,aspect,average annual temperature change(AATC),and average annual precipitation change(AAPC);the WYS'VR was mainly affected by elevation,average annual precipitation(AAP),and AAPC;while the terrain factors(elevation and slope)were the main driving factors of VR in NTL;(4)among the main factors influencing the VR changes,the AAPC had the highest proportion in HTR(66.7%),and the AAP occupied the largest area proportion in WYS(80.4%).While in NTL,elevation served as the main driving factor for the VR,encompassing 64.2%of its area.Consequently,our findings indicated that precipitation factors were the main driving force for the VR changes in HTR and WYS national parks,while elevation was the main factors that drove the VR in NTL.Our research has promoted a deeper understanding of the driving mechanism behind the VR. 展开更多

Microplastics (MPs) have been an emerging concern due to their harmful effects on the ecosystem and are ubiquitous in various habitats, from marine to terrestrial environments. However, studies on the presence of MPs in recreational areas are limited. One of the previous works has reported that urban recreational parks are considered “sinks” for plastic debris, including MPs. In this study, low-density MPs (LD-MPs) in soil samples collected from recreational parks of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates (UAE) were isolated by density flotation method. Results showed that these parks have varying levels of LD-MPs caused by various anthropogenic activities, such as sludge use and application of reclaimed water from wastewater treatment facilities in those areas. These plastic particles were isolated in 87% of the soil samples, with an average concentration of 1550 ± 340 MPs/kg. Predominantly, these comprised large LD-MPs (300 - 5000 μm), with red and blue being the most common colors. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy identified possible synthetic polymers, including polyethylene and polypropylene. Additionally, a negative correlation was observed between LD-MP concentration and soil pH and moisture content, indicating potential adverse effects on soil health. These findings highlight the need for monitoring and managing microplastic pollution in urban recreational areas to mitigate its ecological impacts. 展开更多

COVID-19 posed challenges for global tourism management.Changes in visitor temporal and spatial patterns and their associated determinants pre-and peri-pandemic in Canadian Rocky Mountain National Parks are analyzed.Data was collected through social media programming and analyzed using spatiotemporal analysis and a geographically weighted regression(GWR)model.Results highlight that COVID-19 significantly changed park visitation patterns.Visitors tended to explore more remote areas peri-pandemic.The GWR model also indicated distance to nearby trails was a significant influence on visitor density.Our results indicate that the pandemic influenced tourism temporal and spatial imbalance.This research presents a novel approach using combined social media big data which can be extended to the field of tourism management,and has important implications to manage visitor patterns and to allocate resources efficiently to satisfy multiple objectives of park management. 展开更多

As the pivotal green space,urban parks play an important role in urban residents’daily activities.Thy can not only bring people physical health,but also can be more likely to elicit positive sentiment to those who visit them.Recently,social media big data has provided new data sources for sentiment analysis.However,there was limited researches that explored the connection between urban parks and individual’s sentiments.Therefore,this study firstly employed a pre-trained language model(BERT,Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers)to calculate sentiment scores based on social media data.Secondly,this study analysed the relationship between urban parks and individual’s sentiment from both spatial and temporal perspectives.Finally,by utilizing structural equation model(SEM),we identified 13 factors and analyzed its degree of the influence.The research findings are listed as below:①It confirmed that individuals generally experienced positive sentiment with high sentiment scores in the majority of urban parks;②The urban park type showed an influence on sentiment scores.In this study,higher sentiment scores observed in Eco-parks,comprehensive parks,and historical parks;③The urban parks level showed low impact on sentiment scores.With distinctions observed mainly at level-3 and level-4;④Compared to internal factors in parks,the external infrastructure surround them exerted more significant impact on sentiment scores.For instance,number of bus and subway stations around urban parks led to higher sentiment scores,while scenic spots and restaurants had inverse result.This study provided a novel method to quantify the services of various urban parks,which can be served as inspiration for similar studies in other cities and countries,enhancing their park planning and management strategies. 展开更多

Urban parks are an important part of urban recreational spaces,and the development of analysis framework of recreational behavior and space is helpful for the design of urban parks to better meet the activity and usage requirements of visitors.In this paper,Xiaohong Stone Carving Park in Nanjing was taken as the research object to explore the relationship between landscape space and user behavior for design feedback.The orthographic image technology of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)and machine deep learning were used to analyze users behavior activities in the park,and the spatial characteristics of each node in the park were evaluated by semantic differential scale to explore the potential causes of behavior activities.The results showed that①there were significant differences in the number of visitors on holidays and working days,and young people and children were the main users.②The users activity of the park differed greatly on the inner and outer tour roads,and the users showed stronger willingness to stay on the inner tour roads.Recreational activities received more attention than cultural ones.③The overall distribution of users was significantly affected by hydrophilicity,and the recreational behavior and activity type were affected by multiple factors which include the hydrophilicity,safety,accessibility of cultural relics and the amount of recreational facilities.Finally,the enhanced strategies such as improving the cultural tour system,establishing hydrophilic safety belts and optimizing recreational facilities were put forward. 展开更多

As the integration point of urban blue-green spaces,wetland parks play an important role in the construction of urban carbon pools.It is of great significance for achieving carbon neutrality and peak carbon emissions by reasonably evaluating the carbon sequestration capacity of wetland parks and optimizing wetland structure.In this paper,Guangzhou wetland park is taken as the research object.Through field research,the carbon sequestration potential of ecosystems at multiple levels,including forest vegetation,seedlings,and wetland ecosystems is studied,and policy recommendations are put forward for carbon sequestration in wetland systems.The results show that the annual carbon sequestration capacity of the wetland is 1296.59 t,and the annual net carbon sequestration value is 100485 yuan.Among the three regions,proportions of annual carbon sequestration of the forest vegetation plate,seedling plate,and wetland ecosystem plate account for 28.4%,41.3%,and 30.3%,respectively. 展开更多

目的探讨改良Parks切口显微术在水平共同性斜视患者中的应用效果。方法选取2022年5月—2023年5月莒县人民医院收治的78例水平共同性斜视患者为研究对象,按随机数字表法将其分为对照组和观察组,各39例。对照组行角膜缘梯形结膜瓣切口术治... 目的探讨改良Parks切口显微术在水平共同性斜视患者中的应用效果。方法选取2022年5月—2023年5月莒县人民医院收治的78例水平共同性斜视患者为研究对象,按随机数字表法将其分为对照组和观察组,各39例。对照组行角膜缘梯形结膜瓣切口术治疗,观察组行改良Parks切口显微术治疗。比较两组的矫治效果、手术情况、泪膜功能、生活质量及并发症。结果治疗后,观察组总有效率较对照组高,手术时间、住院时间分别为(22.36±2.15)min、(4.65±0.85)d,均短于对照组的(34.58±3.41)min、(5.89±1.16)d,出血量为(8.62±1.12)mL,少于对照组的(11.87±1.35)mL,组间差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);观察组泪膜破裂时间、泪液分泌试验距离分别为(10.54±1.12)s、(10.25±1.11)mm/5 min,均长于对照组的(8.25±1.04)s、(8.61±1.08)mm/5 min,角膜荧光素染色评分评分为(5.12±1.02)分,低于对照组的(6.57±1.05)分,组间差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);观察组术后世界卫生组织生存质量测定量表简表各领域评分分别为(88.74±5.25)分、(86.87±5.34)分、(90.52±4.29)分、(91.35±4.22)分,均高于对照组的(81.63±5.22)分、(80.14±5.29)分、(83.21±5.25)分、(83.96±5.32)分,并发症发生率低于对照组,组间差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论改良Parks切口显微术治疗水平共同性斜视的效果更佳,可减轻泪膜功能损伤,减少术中出血量,降低并发症发生风险,更好地改善术后生活质量。 展开更多

The goat of ElP is to create a win-win harmonious development aspect of ecooomic development and environmental protection. This paper emphasizes that the external .effect of an EIP is its main characteristic of technoeconomic evaluation for eco-industrial park project. From the view of the property, rights, the EIP's product is typicalty public-private. The government should take some inca.rares for the quantitative analysis on ecological positive externalities of the enterprises in EIP, and also should adopt Coase's Theorem, which supports that the market transaction is the best way to deal with positive externalities (external economics or diseconoraics), or Pigou's Theorem, which holds that the government anti-positive externalities programs are the best way to cope with positive externalities, to internalize the EIP's external effects, which is also a fundamental tool to encourage investors to actively invest in EIP projects, Furthermore. this paper thinks that the EIP 's income should be equal to the income of staple products of the private property, and that of its by-products of the public property. According to this principle, this paper has put forward three major indicators, net present value (NPV), internal rate of renan (IRR), and investment repayment period (IRP), which are also extensively used indicators in ardinary project techno-economic evaluation model to evaluate EIP technoeconomic effects. Theoretically, the indicatory not only can be used in EIP project evaluation, but also can provide a quantitative measure toot for the government to support EIP's construction to the maximum. MRI在肛瘘诊断及Parks分型中的应用价值

目的:探究磁共振成像(MRI)在肛瘘诊断及Parks分型中的应用价值。方法:随机选取2023年1月—2024年5月启东市中医院收治的肛瘘患者72例作为研究对象,所有患者均接受MRI检查。以手术检查结果为金标准,比较MRI诊断内口、外口、瘘管、脓肿的... 目的:探究磁共振成像(MRI)在肛瘘诊断及Parks分型中的应用价值。方法:随机选取2023年1月—2024年5月启东市中医院收治的肛瘘患者72例作为研究对象,所有患者均接受MRI检查。以手术检查结果为金标准,比较MRI诊断内口、外口、瘘管、脓肿的结果与金标准结果差异,分析MRI检查对Parks分型的诊断结果及与金标准的一致性;并采用肛周疾病活动指数(PDAI)评估肛瘘患者的活动性,将PDAI评分>4分的肛瘘患者纳入活动期组,≤4分的肛瘘患者纳入缓解期组,比较缓解期组、活动期组的ADC值差异,采用受试者工作特征(ROC)曲线分析表观弥散系数(ADC)值对肛瘘活动性的诊断效能。结果:患者经手术检查,检出内口77个、外口73个、瘘管81个、脓肿25个;MRI诊断共检出内口74个、外口71个、瘘管79个、脓肿25个,与手术诊断结果的符合率分别为96.10%、97.26%、97.53%、100.00%,MRI诊断结果与手术诊断结果比较无明显差异(P>0.05)。患者经手术检查,检出括约肌间肛瘘27例,经括约肌肛瘘23例,括约肌上肛瘘12例,括约肌外肛瘘10例;MRI检查结果显示,括约肌间肛瘘25例,经括约肌肛瘘23例,括约肌上肛瘘14例,括约肌外肛瘘10例,MRI诊断肛瘘Parks分型的准确率为86.11%,Kappa值=0.806(95%CI:0.695~0.916),与金标准一致性较好。活动期组的ADC值低于缓解期组(P<0.05)。ROC曲线分析结果显示,ADC值诊断活动期肛瘘的ROC曲线下面积(AUC)值为0.885(95%CI:0.801~0.968),灵敏度为78.57%,特异度为86.36%,截断值为≤1.07×10^(-3) mm^(2)/s。结论:MRI对于肛瘘具有较高的诊断价值,可准确诊断肛瘘患者的内口、外口、瘘管、脓肿及Parks分型,并且可有效评估疾病活动度,具备临床应用和参考价值。 展开更多
