An Analysis of Chinese English Varieties from the Perspective of Eco-linguistics——A Case Study of Pidgin English

This paper focuses on the nativization of English in China,using Pidgin English as a case study to put Chinese English variants under the theoretical framework of eco-linguistics,and put the ecological environment such as species competition,coexistence and co-evolution,etc.The natural phenomenon is compared with the existence of language phenomenon in the development process of China English represented by Pidgin English.The study found that as the spark of the collision of the two mainstream languages of Chinese and English,the Chinese English varieties play a very important role in the exchange and enrichment of the two languages and cultures.Although academic circles have different attitudes and opinions on Chinese English variants,their existence and development conform to the law of the development of things and are also inevitable in historical development.Blindly ignoring their objective existence will definitely bring adverse effects on the ecological balance of the language.We should face up to the existence of Chinese English variants,comply with the law of language development,and allow it to develop naturally,and make efforts to protect the ecological balance of the world’s languages.

Ecological Classroom Model for Vocabulary Teaching Based on Markov Chain

This paper explores the current English vocabulary teaching classroom based on an eco-linguistic perspective and the Markov chain,points out the ecological imbalance in the English vocabulary classroom,and proposes measures to solve the problem and strategies to build an ecological English vocabulary learning classroom,in order to provide some reference for future English vocabulary curriculum reform and curriculum design.In this paper,a random sample of 20 students from each class was taken from an advanced arts class and an advanced science class.The results show that after a semester of teaching process,the overall English scores of the arts and science classes improved,and since,the arts classes improved more and the teachers’teaching quality was better.

A Study on the Ecological Teaching Model of College English from the Perspective of Ecological Linguistics

Teachers' teaching concepts, language skills and so on are directly related to teaching methods, and have a profound impact on English teaching. Eco-linguistics is mainly an interdisciplinary subject of language development and change from the perspective of ecology. It is helpful to create a favorable teaching environment, arouse students' interest in learning and improve the quality of classroom teaching. With the help of application tools such as"Rain classroom", this paper mainly focuses on the ecological teaching mode of college English from the perspective of ecological linguistics in detail such as individualized assignment and group work etc, hoping to be helpful to the relevant personnel.

The Discourse Analysis of Ecology from the Perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics

In recent decades, ecological problems are becoming more and more serious, which are focused worldwide. ＂Eco-[inguistics＂ （EL） also called ＂Ecology of Language＂ emerges in the situation that scholars try their best to solve the problems in linguistics. As an emerging interdisciplinary area of ecology and linguistics, eco-linguistics aims at analyzing the ecological phenomenon in language, exploring the relation between language and environment, and looking for the variety of internal patterns of language. At present, scholars at home have made a lot of achievements with the tendency from theoretical studies to practical studies. On the theoretical framework of eco-linguistics and the transitivity method of Systemic Functional Linguistics（SFL）, by analyzing two texts excerpted from BBC news reports which involve two kinds of animals, this article tries to explore the relation between human and animals and our attitudes toward different animals, analyze the ecological elements and hidden non-ecological features in the discourses, reveal the essential reasons for ecological disruption---inherent human ideology, interpret the influences on nature. We expect that people pay more attention to the issues of environment protection, change anthropocentrism to ecocentrism which builds the harmonious relation between human and nature.

语言生态学的起源及其研究现状

The Ecology of Language is a new discipline which combines theories and methods of ecology with that of linguistics in investigation and research of languages.As it is a newly developed discipline, it has not received much attention in the circle of Tibetan studies. Therefore, this article focuses on the development of Ecology of Language, current research findings, and the main concern of Ecology of Language.

Designing Locally Relevant Instructional Material for Indonesian EFL Classroom

Meaningful teaching and learning can be achieved when the materials are closely related to the learners’real life.This research focuses on language and culture for the materials suitable for the first semester students of EFL class at the University of Palangka Raya.The design-based research was applied to provide sources consisting of environmental linguistic expres-sions within the eco-linguistic perspective and using a text-based or gen-re-based approach by selecting suitable texts for the level.The Product of Instructional Material shows at least two benefits:(1)as the source of the main module of Intensive Course in writing skill for the first-year students of English Education in Central Kalimantan,and(2)the solution for en-couraging the teachers to modify the provided material which can cover the national standard(KKNI)as well as promoting the local values to strength-en local cultures to have meaningful teaching and learning process.
