These mushrooms may be an important source of polysaccharides with medicinal properties as antioxidant, antitumoral, antimicrobial and immunological properties. The aim of this work was to produce and to evaluate the biological properties of protein-bound polysaccharide complexes, extra intracellular (E-PPS and I-PPS), extracted from P. ostreatus cultures, using agricultural sunflower wastes as carbon source. Three main compounds in the E-PPS and four main compounds in the I-PPS were identified by SEC-UV-RI-HPLC. These complexes of P. ostreatus present no toxicity in Artemia salina cultures, after 24 h of incubation. Antioxidant properties of the complexes were evaluated by radical scavenging activity using DPPH method and lipid peroxidation inhibition capacity, determined by erytbsocytes hemolysis. Additionally, E-PPS and I-PPS extracts revealed capacity to mimetize superoxide dismutase and catalase enzymatic activities. The hepatoprotector effect of E-PPS extracts in Wistar rats was evaluated by AST, ALT, ALP and y-GT activities, showing capacity to reduce the liver damage induced by ethanol-administration. This hepatoprotective effect is equivalent to that observed by silymarin, a standard drug. Our results suggests that the extracts of E-PPS and I-PPS produced by P. ostreatus cultures, using agricultural sunflower wastes as main carbon source, can be used as an important source of bioactive compounds with potential medicinal value.展开更多

Nagaland is one of the Northeastern states of India. The people of the state highly covet mushrooms and have been a delicacy since time immemorial. The present study documents the macro fungal diversity in various districts of the state. A total of 87 species of wild mushrooms were collected and identified. They are parasitic, saprophytic and ecto-mycorrhizal in habitat. The highest numbers of mushroom species were collected during May–September from the study areas. Of the collected mushrooms, 37 species were identified as edible, 21 species medicinal, 5 poisonous and 37 inedible/unclassified.
文摘Mushrooms are an important source of food among different ethnic communities in Nepal and are widely collected during rainy season. This paper includes documentation of wild mushrooms in the vicinities of Simbhanjyang,Makwanpur district, central Nepal.Semi-structured open ended questionnaire and Rapid Rural Appraisal were followed to get information about edibility of wild mushrooms from local harvesters.Forty-three species of mushrooms were documented. The collected species are saprophytic, parasitic, and mycorrhizal.Ethnic communities identify edible and other useful mushroom species based on traditional knowledge transferred from their ancestors orally which was in practice and tested through generations.Edible Boletus edulis,Russula virescens and medicinal Ganoderma tsugae are some potential non-timber forest products from the study area.

文摘Wild edible fungi(WEF),including mushrooms and truffles, comprise a natural source of nutritious and healthy food. The consumption of WEF began at least 18,700 years ago during the Stone Age.Current data from over 100 countries indicates the existence of more than 2,100 edible species,a figure that is continually growing,as vast regions and many cultures remain understudied. However, only around 30 species of WEF are grown commercially at a large-scale.WEF also play a key ecological role in the structure and functioning of natural ecosystems and have significantly contributed in shaping all life on the planet.Either as food, medicine or both, they are important for the survival, cultures, and economies of hundreds of ethnic groups around the globe.Over the last 15 years, there has been a noteworthy increase in the international trade of WEF,which is currently estimated at billions(USD)annually. In 2017,the WEF global trade,of either fresh or processed products, exceeded 1,230,000 tonnes.Due to their ecological, sociocultural and economic importance, the international WEF trade has a role to play in the post-pandemic recovery period. The main challenge of this period will be maintaining natural ecosystems while simultaneously improving human wellbeing.Critical elements of this challenge include ensuring food security, enhancing rural development, creating sustainable jobs, mitigating hunger, and slowing the loss of traditional knowledge generated over millennia. This review analyzes the ways in which sustainable use of WEF could contribute to achieving these goals.

文摘Aroma is central to the worldwide success of truffles as gourmet food and the high prices paid for these edible mushrooms. In this study, volatile organic compounds(VOCs)from fruiting bodies of two Chinese truffles of commercial relevance,Tuber indicum and Tuber pseudohimalayense, were analyzed using headspace solid-phase microextraction(HS-SPME)coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).We aimed to characterize the aroma profile and determine whether it would be influenced by provenance and stage of maturation. We thus collected and analyzed young, middle mature and mature fruiting bodies of each species from different locations in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, located in southwestern China.Overall,76 VOCs were identified, belonging to different chemical classes,i.e.alcohols and phenols, aldehydes and ketones, benzenes and methoxy compounds, hydrocarbons and amines.A large number of volatiles identified in T.indicum and T.pseudohimalayense are reported here for the first time for these truffles. While more than 50%of identified VOCs were produced by both truffle species, considerable differences were present in the aroma profiles of fruiting bodies collected at various maturation stages, revealing a dynamic pattern in the biosynthesis of VOCs.Furthermore, truffles of different provenance had distinct proportions of volatile constituents, suggesting that, besides genetic factors, edaphic and microclimatic conditions influence the synthesis of VOCs in a complex manner.
文摘Several species of mushrooms, as Pleurotus ostreatus, have been valued as edible and medicinal resources. Our results suggests that the extracts of E-PPS and I-PPS produced by P. ostreatus cultures, using agricultural sunflower wastes as main carbon source, can be used as an important source of bioactive compounds with potential medicinal value.
