An 8-Node Plane Hybrid Element for StructuralMechanics Problems Based on the Hellinger-Reissner Variational Principle

The finite element method (FEM) plays a valuable role in computer modeling and is beneficial to the mechanicaldesign of various structural parts. However, the elements produced by conventional FEM are easily inaccurate andunstable when applied. Therefore, developing new elements within the framework of the generalized variationalprinciple is of great significance. In this paper, an 8-node plane hybrid finite element with 15 parameters (PHQ8-15β) is developed for structural mechanics problems based on the Hellinger-Reissner variational principle.According to the design principle of Pian, 15 unknown parameters are adopted in the selection of stress modes toavoid the zero energy modes.Meanwhile, the stress functions within each element satisfy both the equilibrium andthe compatibility relations of plane stress problems. Subsequently, numerical examples are presented to illustrate theeffectiveness and robustness of the proposed finite element. Numerical results show that various common lockingbehaviors of plane elements can be overcome. The PH-Q8-15β element has excellent performance in all benchmarkproblems, especially for structures with varying cross sections. Furthermore, in bending problems, the reasonablemesh shape of the new element for curved edge structures is analyzed in detail, which can be a useful means toimprove numerical accuracy. 展开更多

By introducing the dimensional splitting(DS)method into the multiscale interpolating element-free Galerkin(VMIEFG)method,a dimension-splitting multiscale interpolating element-free Galerkin(DS-VMIEFG)method is proposed for three-dimensional(3D)singular perturbed convection-diffusion(SPCD)problems.In the DSVMIEFG method,the 3D problem is decomposed into a series of 2D problems by the DS method,and the discrete equations on the 2D splitting surface are obtained by the VMIEFG method.The improved interpolation-type moving least squares(IIMLS)method is used to construct shape functions in the weak form and to combine 2D discrete equations into a global system of discrete equations for the three-dimensional SPCD problems.The solved numerical example verifies the effectiveness of the method in this paper for the 3D SPCD problems.The numerical solution will gradually converge to the analytical solution with the increase in the number of nodes.For extremely small singular diffusion coefficients,the numerical solution will avoid numerical oscillation and has high computational stability. 展开更多

Further, we prove that the sequences generated by the proposed iterative method converge strongly to a common solution of split variational inclusion problem and split fixed point problem for averaged mappings which is also the unique solution of the variational inequality problem. In this paper,we investigate pseudomonotone and Lipschitz continuous variational inequalities in real Hilbert spaces.For solving this problem,we propose a new method that combines the advantages of the subgradient extragradient method and the projection contraction method.Some very recent papers have considered different inertial algorithms which allowed the inertial factor is chosen in[0;1].The purpose of this work is to continue working in this direction,we propose another inertial subgradient extragradient method that the inertial factor can be chosen in a special case to be 1.Under suitable mild conditions,we establish the weak convergence of the proposed algorithm.Moreover,linear convergence is obtained under strong pseudomonotonicity and Lipschitz continuity assumptions.Finally,some numerical illustrations are given to confirm the theoretical analysis. 展开更多

Under suitable conditions, some strong convergence theorems are proved. Our results extends the recent results in G.L.Acedo and H.K.Xu [2], Zhang, Lee and Chan [8], Wakahashi and Toyoda [9], Takahashi and Takahashi [I0] and S. S. Chang, H. W. Joseph Lee and C. K. The simplified linear model of Grad-Shafranov (GS) reconstruction can be reformulated into an inverse boundary value problem of Laplace's equation. Therefore, in this paper we focus on the method of solving the inverse boundary value problem of Laplace's equation. In the first place, the variational regularization method is used to deal with the ill- posedness of the Cauchy problem for Laplace's equation. Then, the 'L-Curve' principle is suggested to be adopted in choosing the optimal regularization parameter. Finally, a numerical experiment is implemented with a section of Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions with observation errors. The results well converge to the exact solution of the problem, which proves the efficiency and robustness of the proposed method. When the order of observation error δ is 10-1, the order of the approximate result error can reach 10-3. 展开更多

According to the necessary condition of the functional taking the extremum, that is its first variation is equal to zero, the variational problems of the functionals for the undetermined boundary in the calculus of variations are researched, the functionals depend on single argument, arbitrary unknown functions and their derivatives of higher orders. A new view point is posed and demonstrated, i.e. when the first variation of the functional is equal to zero, all the variational terms are not independent to each other, and at least one of them is equal to zero. In this article, we extend the cyclic antimonotonicity from scalar bifunctions to vector bifunctions. We find out a cyclically antimonotone vector bifunction can be regarded as a family of cyclically antimonotone scalar bifunctions. Using a pre-order principle(see Qiu, 2014), we prove a new version of Ekeland variational principle(briefly, denoted by EVP), which is quite different from the previous ones, for the objective function consists of a family of scalar functions. From the new version, we deduce several vectorial EVPs for cyclically antimonotone equilibrium problems, which extend and improve the previous results. By developing the original method proposed by Castellani and Giuli, we deduce a number of existence results(no matter scalar-valued case,or vector-valued case), when the feasible set is a sequentially compact topological space or a countably compact topological space. Finally, we propose a general coercivity condition. Combining the general coercivity condition and the obtained existence results with compactness conditions, we obtain several existence results for equilibrium problems in noncompact settings. 展开更多

Using Chien's method, a pair of generalized variational principles (GVPs) are established, which directly leads to all four Maxwell's equations, two intensity-potential equations, two constitutive equations, and eight boundary conditions. A family of constrained variational principles is derived sequentially. As additional verifications, two degenerated forms are obtained, equivalent to two known variational principles. In this work the authors give a predictor corrector interior point algorithm for monotone variational inequality problems. The algorithm was proved to be equivalent to a level 1 perturbed composite Newton method. Computations in the algorithm do not require the initial iteration to be feasible. Many methods have been proposed in the literature for solving the split variational inequality problem.Most of these methods either require that this problem is transformed into an equivalent variational inequality problem in a product space,or that the underlying operators are co-coercive.However,it has been discovered that such product space transformation may cause some potential difficulties during implementation and its approach may not fully exploit the attractive splitting nature of the split variational inequality problem.On the other hand,the co-coercive assumption of the underlying operators would preclude the potential applications of these methods.To avoid these setbacks,we propose two new relaxed inertial methods for solving the split variational inequality problem without any product space transformation,and for which the underlying operators are freed from the restrictive co-coercive assumption.The methods proposed,involve projections onto half-spaces only,and originate from an explicit discretization of a dynamical system,which combines both the inertial and relaxation techniques in order to achieve high convergence speed.Moreover,the sequence generated by these methods is shown to converge strongly to a minimum-norm solution of the problem in real Hilbert spaces.Furthermore,numerical implementations and comparisons are given to support our theoretical findings. 展开更多
