The FTP200 flake tantalum powder was introduced.The microstructures of the powder with leaf-like primary particles having an average flakiness of 2 to 20 and porous agglomerated particles were observed.The chemical composition,physical properties,and electrical properties of the FTP200 powder were compared with those of the FTW300 nodular powder.The FTP200 powder is more sinter-resistant,and the surface area of the flake tantalum powder under sintering at high temperature has less loss than that of the nodular tantalum powder.The specific capacitance of the flake tantalum powder is higher than that of the nodular tantalum powder with the same surface area when anodized at high voltage.Thus,the flake tantalum powder is suitable for manufacturing tantalum solid electrolytic capacitors in the range of median and high(20-63 V) voltages. 展开更多

Capacitors are widely used in pulsed magnet power supplies to reduce ripple voltage,store energy,and decrease power variation.In this study,DC-link capacitors in pulsed power supplies were investigated.By deriving an analytical method for the capacitor current on the H-bridge topology side,the root-mean-square value of the capacitor current was calculated,which helps in selecting the DC-link capacitors.The proposed method solves this problem quickly and with high accuracy.The current reconstruction of the DC-link capacitor is proposed to avoid structural damage in the capacitor’s current measurement,and the capacitor’s hotspot temperature and temperature rise are calculated using the FFT transform.The test results showed that the error between the calculated and measured temperature increases was within 1.5℃.Finally,the lifetime of DC-link capacitors was predicted based on Monte Carlo analysis.The proposed method can evaluate the reliability of DC-link capacitors in a non-isolated switching pulsed power supply for accelerators and is also applicable to film capacitors. 展开更多

Converters rely on passive filtering as a crucial element due to the high-frequency operational characteristics of power electronics.Traditional filtering methods involve a dual inductor-capacitor(LC)cell or an inductor-capacitor-inductor(LCL)T-circuit.However,capacitors are susceptible to wear-out mechanisms and failure modes.Nevertheless,the necessity for monitoring and regular replacement adds to an elevated cost of ownership for such systems.The utilization of an active output power filter can be used to diminish the dimensions of the LC filter and the electrolytic dc-link capacitor,even though the inclusion of capacitors remains an indispensable part of the system.This paper introduces capacitorless solid-state power filter(SSPF)for single-phase dc-ac converters.The proposed configuration is capable of generating a sinusoidal ac voltage without relying on capacitors.The proposed filter,composed of a planar transformer and an H-bridge converter operating at high frequency,injects voltage harmonics to attain a sinusoidal output voltage.The design parameters of the planar transformer are incorporated,and the impact of magnetizing and leakage inductances on the operation of the SSPF is illustrated.Theoretical analysis,supported by simulation and experimental results,are provided for a design example for a single-phase system.The total harmonic distortion observed in the output voltage is well below the IEEE 519 standard.The system operation is experimentally tested under both steady-state and dynamic conditions.A comparison with existing technology is presented,demonstrating that the proposed topology reduces the passive components used for filtering. 展开更多

The aluminum foil for high voltage aluminum electrolytic capacitor was immersed in 0.5 mol/L H3PO4 or 0.125 mol/L NaOH solution at 40 ℃ for different time and then DC electro-etched in 1 mol/L HC1+2.5 mol/L H2SO4 electrolyte at 80 ℃. The pitting potential and self corrosion potential of A1 foil were measured with polarization curves (PC). The potentiostatic current--time curve was recorded and the surface and cross section images of etched A1 foil were observed with SEM. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of etched A1 foil and potential transient curves (PTC) during initial etching stage were measured. The results show the chemical pretreatments can activate A1 foil surface, facilitate the absorption, diffusion and migration of C1- onto the A1 foil during etching, and improve the initiation rate of meta-stable pits and density of stable pits and tunnels, leading to much increase in the real surface area and special capacitance of etched A1 foil. 展开更多

The Al foil for high voltage Al electrolytic capacitor usage was immersed in 5.0%NaOH solution containing trace amount of Zn2+and Zn was chemically plated on its surface through an immersion-reduction reaction. Such Zn-deposited Al foil was quickly transferred into HCl-H 2 SO 4 solution for DC-etching. The effects of Zn impurity on the surface and cross-section etching morphologies and electrochemical behavior of Al foil were investigated by SEM, polarization curve (PC) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The special capacitance of 100 V formation voltage of etched foil was measured. The results show that the chemical plating Zn on Al substrate in alkali solution can reduce the pitting corrosion resistance, enhance the pitting current density and improve the density and uniform distribution of pits and tunnels due to formation of the micro Zn-Al galvanic local cells. The special capacitance of etched foil grows with the increase of Zn2+concentration. 展开更多

Aluminum capacitor foils with a tunnel etch structure were reacted with boiling water and then anodized at 530 V in boric acid solution or boric acid+citric acid mixed solution.The microstructure and crystallinity of the resulting anodized film were examined by TEM and XRD.The special capacitance,resistance and withstanding voltage of the film were explored with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),LCR meter and small-current charging.The results show that the high voltage anodized oxide film consists of an inner layer with high crystallinity and an outer layer with low crystallinity.However,the crystallinity of the film formed in boric acid+citric acid mixed solution is higher than that of the film formed in only boric acid solution,leading to an increase in film's field strength and special capacitance.Meanwhile,there are more defects from phase transformation in the out layer of the film formed in boric acid+citric acid mixed solution than in that of film formed in only boric acid solution,leading to a decrease in film's resistance and withstanding voltage. 展开更多

The morphologies of tunnel tips in different stages for aluminum foils during DC etching in 1.5 mol/L HC1 solution at 90℃ were observed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). A novel model was proposed to describe the morphological evolution of tunnel tips throughout the growth processes. In the pit nucleation stage, the pits vary from the hemispherical to half-cubic shapes due to the activation of pit tips from the center to the edge. During the tunnel growth stage, the pits dissolve toward the depth direction and develop into the tunnels, and their tips remain flat. In the tip passivation stage, as the passivation of tunnel tips speeds up from the edge to the center's the tunnel tips change from flat shapes to three-dimensional protrusions. The mechanism may be attributed to the order of activation or passivation on the tunnel tips changed in different stages. 展开更多

The morphology of etched aluminum foil was observed using scanning electron microscopy, which led to the establishment of a cylindrical model and two merged models, considering the fixed weight loss of etching. The maximum of specific capacitance and the cor- responding optimum values for tunnel sizes at various anodization voltages were predicted. The increased size distribution and taper of tun- nels were demonstrated to decrease the specific capacitance, whereas the addition of polymeric additive into the ttmnel widening solution was demonstrated to increase the capacitance. The formation of merged tunnels on the etched aluminum surface, irrespective of the presence of row-merged tunnels or cluster-merged tunnels, resulted in a dramatic decrease in the specific capacitance. It is concluded that, enhancing the uniformity of turmel size and distribution and avoiding the formation of merged tunnels are the effective approach to achieving the higher capacitance for the tunnel etched and formed aluminum foil. 展开更多

The distribution of microelement Fe, Si, Cu and Mg in the surface layer of aluminum foil annealed at 300℃ and 500℃ were determined by secondary ion mass spectrometer. The corrosion structure produced by electrochemical etching was also observed. It was found that the Mg concentration at external surface was increased exponentially over the fourth degree and promoted by higher annealing temperature, which will increase the number of corrosion pits inside the large grains, and therefore the specific capacity of the foils for electrolytic capacitors. The similar effects of microelement Fe, Si and Cu were not so strong. 展开更多

The principle of single to single phase matrix electric power conversioin is further studied and the conversioin switch function is introduced into conventional rectifier inverter, thus a general character of the two conversion techniques is discovered. It is characteristic of the switch functiion to follow mains voltage distortion and mains frequency drift. By utilizing the merit, unidirectional switch duty rations of the inverter follow the variation of DC link voltage automatically, thus the size of DC link electrolytic capacitor can be reduced considerably, bringing about improved mains side power factor. Corresponding topologies and theoretical and theoretical derivations are given, and so are the simulation results, based on which it is confirmed that the single to single phase matrix conversion technique is potentially useful in large scale production, and the introduction of switch function can yield good economic returns. 展开更多

The effect of trace Sn on the pitting morphology of high voltage anode aluminum foils was investigated. The distributions of microelement Sn, Fe, Si, Cu and Mg in the surface layer of aluminum foils with different Sn content were determined by using a secondary ion mass spectrometer. It was found that the micro-alloyed Sn is enriched at the external surface. The mechanism of pitting behavior of trace Sn on aluminum surface is similar with that of lead. Enrichment of Sn in the surface layer provides large numbers of sites for initiation of pitting corrosion, while pitting sites appeared relatively inhomogenously in the foils without Sn. Sn, as an eco-friendly microelement, can be applied to replace Pb in improving the homogenous pitting behaviors of high voltage aluminum foils, in which the volume fraction of cube texture is not reduced. 展开更多

Growth and passivation of tunnels within Al foil by on-off controlling DC etching in 6 wt.% HCI solution has been investigated. It was found that, in a given etchant solution at a special temperature, the longest tunnel length was only a function of the turn-on interval of DC. The potential of Al foil broke at on-off controlling DC by the result from anode polarization curves and potential-time (E-t) responding curves. When DC was switched on, the potential increased abruptly over pitting potential, leading to nucleation of pits at the surface and the growth of tunnels at special length. When DC was switched off, the potential decreased rapidly to a passive value, leading to stoppage of nucleation and death of tunnels. By this way, the longest tunnel length can be controlled and a non-piercing layer can be obtained. Hence, etching of Al foil at this current is beneficial for maintaining a good mechanical strength. 展开更多

Al specimens were covered with TiO2 film by sol-gel dip-coating and then anodized in ammonium adipate solution.The structure,composition and capacitance properties of the anodic oxide film were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM),Auger electron spectroscopy (AES),X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).It was found that an anodic oxide film with a dual-layer structure formed between TiO2 coating and Al substrate.The film consisted of an inner Al2O3 layer and an outer Ti-Al composite oxide layer.The thickness of layers varied with the number of times of sol-gel dip-coating.The capacitance of anodic oxide films formed on coated specimens was at most 80% higher than that without TiO2.In film formation mechanism,it was claimed that the formation of composite oxide film was mainly affected by the structure of micro-pores network in TiO2 coating which had an influence on Al3+ and O2? ions transport during the anodizing. 展开更多

We report chemical vapor phase polymerization(VPP) deposition of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT) and PEDOT/graphene on porous dielectric tantalum pentoxide(Ta_2O_5) surface as cathode films for solid tantalum electrolyte capacitors. The modified oxidant/oxidant-graphene films were first deposited on Ta_2O_5 by dip-coating, and VPP process was subsequently utilized to transfer oxidant/oxidant-graphene into PEDOT/PEDOT-graphene films. The SEM images showed PEDOT/PEDOT-graphene films was successfully constructed on porous Ta_2O_5 surface through VPP deposition, and a solid tantalum electrolyte capacitor with conducting polymer-graphene nano-composites as cathode films was constructed. The high conductivity nature of PEDOT-graphene leads to resistance decrease of cathode films and lower contact resistance between PEDOT/graphene and carbon paste. This nano-composite cathode films based capacitor showed ultralow equivalent series resistance(ESR) ca. 12 m? and exhibited excellent capacitance-frequency performance, which can keep 82% of initial capacitance at 500 KHz. The investigation on leakage current revealed that the device encapsulation process has no influence on capacitor leakage current, indicating the excellent mechanical strength of PEDOT/PEDOT-gaphene films. This high conductivity and mechanical strength of graphene-based polymer films shows promising future for electrode materials such as capacitors, organic solar cells and electrochemical energy storage devices. 展开更多

A spiro-type quaternary ammonium salt, spiro-(1,1′)-bipyrrolidinium tetrafluoroborate(SBP-BF4) was successfully prepared by an economical and efficient three-step process comprising the cyclization reaction of 1,4-dibromobutane and pyrrolidine, and subsequent ion exchange pathway with KOH followed by neutralization reaction via HBF4 in the system of ethanol solution. 1H NMR, 13 C NMR, FI-IR and XPS analyses showed the structure of SBP-BF4. The as-obtained SBP-BF4 was dissolved in AN and used as the electrolyte for supercapacitor. Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that, compared with commercial electrolyte TEMA-BF4/AN, SBP-BF4/AN exhibits high ionic conductivity, lower resistance and improved cycling performance, which is due to its smaller ion size and stable symmetry structure. 展开更多

After annealing at 500-600℃ in air, an Al2O3-TiO2 composite oxide film was formed on the surface of the etched aluminum foil by anodizing galvanostatically in an ammonium adipate solution. The effects of I2 concentration in the acetone solution, applied anode voltage, electrolysis time, and annealing temperature on the specific capacitance of the aluminum anode foils were investigated. The TiO2-deposited specimens prepared by applying a po-tential of 50V for 3 min in 2.5m MI2-added acetone solution followed by annealing at 550℃ after anodization exhibited the highest specific capacitance, with an enhancement of 22% compared with pure etched aluminum foil specimens. The electro-deposition process and the change of the anode voltage during the anodization were analyzed. 展开更多
