Objectives: Burns are shown as a clinical problem for their severity and multiple complications due to the time required to heal. Therapies that improve their healing are of great importance, especially for being minimally invasive, of low cost and best performance, all related to the speed and quality of healing. This study investigated the effects of the magnetic electro stimulator Haihuá CD9 isolated or in association with Aloe vera in rats skin burns. Methods: Experimental groups (n = 30/group) were: (C) Carbopol gel; (F) A. vera/Carbopol gel; (H) Haihuá+Carbopol gel; (H+F) Haihuá+A. vera/Carbopol gel. Samples were collected on the 7th, 14th, and 21st experimental days for structural and morphometric analysis, hydroxyproline and glycosaminoglycans quantification, zymography for MMP-2 and MMP-9 and Western Blotting for TGF-β1, VEGF, Collagen I and III. Key findings: The expression of TGF-β1 in H+F was increased on the 7th day and of MMP-9 on the 7th and 14th days. The expression of VEGF increased in the first experimental periods and decreased in the last for the treated groups. There was an increase in the fibroblasts and birefringent collagen fibers in groups treated with Haihuá isolated or in association with A. vera in all periods. The quantification of collagen I increased, while collagen III decreased in H+F. The higher amount of GAGs and MMP-2 active isoform was detected in H and H+F during all periods. Conclusions: Considering the results of the present study, electromagnetic stimulation in association with the A. vera extract promoted an increase in the number of fibroblasts, GAGs content, MMP-2 activity, the deposition and organization of collagen fibers, favoring the repair of injuries to second degree burns, and may also present therapeutic potential in this injury type. 展开更多

Increasing evidence shows that extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields(ELF-EMFs) stimulation is able to exert a certain action on autoimmunity and immune cells. In the past, the efficacy of pulsed ELFEMFs in alleviating the symptoms and the progression of multiple sclerosis has been supported through their action on neurotransmission and on the autoimmune mechanisms responsible for demyelination. Regarding the immune system, ELF-EMF exposure contributes to a general activation of macrophages, resulting in changes of autoimmunity and several immunological reactions, such as increased reactive oxygen species-formation, enhanced phagocytic activity and increased production of chemokines. Transcranial electromagnetic brain stimulation is a non-invasive novel technique used recently to treat different neurodegenerative disorders, in particular Alzheimer's disease. Despite its proven value, the mechanisms through which EMF brain-stimulation exerts its beneficial action on neuronal function remains unclear. Recent studies have shown that its beneficial effects may be due to a neuroprotective effect on oxidative cell damage. On the basis of in vitro and clinical studies on brain activity, modulation by ELF-EMFs could possibly counteract the aberrant pro-inflammatory responses present in neurodegenerative disorders reducing their severity and their onset. The objective of this review is to provide a systematic overview of the published literature on EMFs and outline the most promising effects of ELF-EMFs in developing treatments of neurodegenerative disorders. In this regard, we review data supporting the role of ELF-EMF in generating immune-modulatory responses, neuromodulation, and potential neuroprotective benefits. Nonetheless, we reckon that the underlying mechanisms of interaction between EMF and the immune system are still to be completely understood and need further studies at a molecular level. 展开更多

An extraordinary(X-mode)electromagnetic wave, injected into the ionosphere by the ground-based heating facility at Tromsφ,Norway, was utilized to modify the ionosphere on November 6,2017.The high-power high-frequency transmitter facility located at Tromsφ belongs to the European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association. In the experiment, stimulated electromagnetic emission(SEE)spectra were observed.A narrow continuum occurred under cold-start conditions and showed an overshoot effect lasting several seconds.Cascading peaks occurred on both sides of the heating frequency only in the preconditioned ionosphere and also showed an overshoot effect. These SEE features are probably related to the ponderomotive process in the X-mode heating experiment and are helpful for understanding the physical mechanism that generated them during the X-mode heating experiment. The features observed in the X-mode heating experiments are novel and require further investigation. 展开更多

This article presents a new design of a distributed-parameter control system for human-machine perception interface, which is capable of precisely stimulating the neural systems with electromagnetic fields.By discretising the neural systems,a state-space representation of the electromagnetic stimulation is developed to facilitate the following design and analysis.A forward controller with multiple inputs and multiple outputs is consequently designed to estimate the excitation current. This novel approach enables the applications of the well-established control theory to analyse the system. The feasibility and accuracy of the control system are numerically illustrated and validated with the applications of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMS)and retinal stimulation. The results indicate that the newly designed control system can not only generate electromagnetic stimulation with better attenuation and focality than the most widely used Figure-8 coil, but also transmit the patterns extracted from images with electromagnetic stimulations to human retinas. 展开更多

In this article, the recent research achievements on the theory and technology of condensate oil and gas wells stimulated by electromagnetic induction heating during middle or late exploitation period were introduced for the first time at home and abroad. A new kind of electromagnetic wave induction heating equipment XAEMH-1 was developed. Taking near wellbore zone temperature field as the main research object, which is the key factor for the condensation and retrograde vaporization during electromagnetic heating, the mathematical simulation model for a condensate oil and gas well stimulated by electromagnetic heating to eliminate blockage near wellbore region was established. A corresponding computer system was developed to dynamically predict and evaluate the efficiency of this electromagnetic heating process. Through this computer system, the near wellbore region distributions of several important factors such as temperature, pressure, condensate oil saturation and relative permeability can be described quantitatively. A condensate gas well in a late exploitation period reservoir here in China was chosen as a practical example to test the effectiveness of this new technology and some satisfactory results were obtained. These results proved that it is feasible to eliminate the near wellbore region blockage by electromagnetic heating. A new prospective stimulation method was given for the condensate oil and gas reservoirs during middle or late exploitation period. 展开更多
