Interview and observation were...The study sought to investigate the historical background of the traditional hand-made embroidery technique, the production process, and its changing trends amongst the Asantes of Ghana. Interview and observation were used in collecting the needed data at selected craft centres in the Kwabre East District, Ejisu-Juaben municipality, Kumasi sub-metro and metropolitan in the Ashanti region of Ghana. The study employed both descriptive and experimental research methods based on the qualitative research approach. It was revealed that Kente and Adinkra enjoy wide reputation and therefore are considered as prestigious clothes. However, Nwomu cloth does not have this fame, only indigenes understand its usage and the philosophy behind its production. In view of this, it is recommended that the elders who are endowed with this unique craft must open their doors to the youth to learn the craft.展开更多

Since the construction of traditional Sichuan brocade was composed of basic-weave, the surface of the fabric shows a regular interweaving planar texture and is difficult to represent a three-dimensional effect. Inspired by embroidery handcraft, this paper attempts to achieve the embroidery-like effect on the fabric through the jacquard process. Based on the multi-backed structure of traditional Sichuan brocade, we adopted the zoned-combination design mode and added extra free-floats interlacing weave in the area where we want to show the embroidered effect and arranged the interlacing points by referring to the feature of the pattern. As a result, designed Sichuan brocades by this method are capable of displaying embroidered effect with high realism and three-dimensionality. This approach improves the artistic effect of the traditional Sichuan brocade and provides a technical reference for further texture design of jacquard fabrics.展开更多

Machine embroidery is a multi-step process with many variables that govern the quality of the final product.In Sri Lanka a few large-scale factories use machine embroidery process.They import heavy and very expensive ...Machine embroidery is a multi-step process with many variables that govern the quality of the final product.In Sri Lanka a few large-scale factories use machine embroidery process.They import heavy and very expensive machines from the other countries in the world.The main disadvantage of these machines is,they are not suitable for production of small order quantities due to high cost.Also,these machines and the required software for the designing and operating process are comparatively expensive.Small scale apparel factories and domestic industrialists cannot afford the high cost of hardware and software.Besides,it requires persons with high skills for design,operation and maintenance.There are a few domestic type automated embroidery machines,but those are exorbitant.The present study aims to design and fabricate retrofit for ordinary sewing machine that is capable of performing given embroidery pattern.The retrofit comprises of an frame which can be moved in X and Y directions by three controlling motors.The design of the embroidery is converted to a G-code using GBRL software and then the microcontroller governs the movement of the frame to produce the embroidery.The retrofit designed and developed performed embroidery function and the quality of the output was checked and it was found to be satisfactory as far as first conceptual model is concerned.Further development work is required to improve user requirements and technical requirements including the increase of speed of operation which may be done with synchronization of the three motors.展开更多

In this paper, we study the stitch layout problem and propose a controllable stitch layout strategy for RNE. Using our method, a user can easily change the layout styles by adjusting several high-level layout parameters. This approach has three main features: firstly, a stitch layout rule containing low-level stitch attributes and high-level layout parameters is designed; secondly, a stitch neighborhood graph is built for each region to model the spatial relationship among stitches; thirdly, different stitch attributes(orientations, lengths, and colors) are controlled using different reaction-diffusion processes based on a stitch neighborhood graph. Moreover, our method supports the user in changing the stitch orientation layout by drawing guide curves interactively. Electrocoagulation is progressively becoming an ecologically friendly water treatment method owing to its lack of secondary pollution,high active ingredient concentration,high treatment effectiveness,simple equipment,...Electrocoagulation is progressively becoming an ecologically friendly water treatment method owing to its lack of secondary pollution,high active ingredient concentration,high treatment effectiveness,simple equipment,and simplicity of automated control implementation.Herein,electrocoagulation is offered as a method for treating wastewater containing azo dyes using a revolutionary flexible electronic fabric that can be mass-producible at a reasonable price.A computer-controlled machine embroiders 316L stainless steel fiber(316L SSF)onto an insulating fabric to manufacture a flexible electronic device of cathode and anode with a monopolar arrangement on the fabric surface.Using methyl orange(MO)solution to simulate azo dye wastewater,the decolorization rate of 500 ml MO reached 99.25% under the conditions of 50 mg·L^(-1)initial mass concentration,120 min electrolysis time,15 mA·g^(-1)current density,1 cm electrode spacing,0.1 mol·L^(-1)NaCl,pH 7.6,200 r·min^(-1)rotational speed of the stirrer,and 22-25℃ room temperature.In addition,it is feasible to embroider flexible electronic fabrics with varied sizes and numbers of electrodes based on the amount of treated sewage to increase the degradation rate,which has significant practical application value.展开更多

In this work Matlab interface to computer embroidery techniques were used to implement the felt and denim substrates on microstrip patch antenna. These antennas were simulated using a commercial full 3D electromagnetic CST Microwave Studio 2019. A method to optimize the stitch patterns with conductive thread for antenna ground plane for 2.45 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band and 5 GHz wearable wireless local area networks (WLAN) frequencies was achieved. Rigid and flexible wearable antennas (microstrip patch antennas) were fabricated using the stitched ground plane. The electrical resistance was reduced between the meshes during the stitching design process. Results in terms of bandwidth, radiation patterns and reflection coefficients (S<sub>11</sub>) are presented.展开更多

文摘Shu(now Sichuan Province in the southwest of China) was famous for silk production.Many poets of the Tang Dynasty praised the magnificence of Shu brocade and embroidery.They also meticulously recorded the good sales and popularity of Shu's mulberry silk fabrics in Jinling(now Nanjing) and Yangzhou through shipments along the Yangtze River and further to Southeast and South Asian countries.Tang poetry provides evidence for the significant role the Shu area played in the trade and commerce of the Maritime Silk Road.

The Open Class invited domestic and foreign embroidery artists from the embroidery industry as well as industry stakeholders to discuss the theme of this Biennale “Embroidery and Contemporary Life”.
