A Literature Review of English Learning Strategies in China

This paper makes a statistical analysis of the research on English learning strategies in 13 core journals of foreign languages in China from 2003 to 2018,mainly from the perspective of research trends,research objects,and so on.The present situation of English learning strategies is reviewed in four aspects:the content and methods of the study.It is found that the research on English learning strategies in China generally shows a dynamic upward trend,and the subjects of the study are from undergraduates to graduate students,college students and middle school students,and from non-English majors to English majors.The content of the study extends from the microscopic perspective of English learning strategies to other relevance studies,and the research methods are mainly empirical research,but less argumentative research methods.In the end,some suggestions are put forward for the research of English learning strategies in China.

The Application of Self-Efficiency Theory in College English Teaching

This paper in intended to explore the application of Self-Efficiency Theory in college English teaching. Based on an introduction to this theory, this exploration is carried out from three perspectives: to adjust the college students' learning strategies; to guide the learner autonomy in their learning process; to help teachers improve their teaching efficiency.

A FINDINGS REPORT ON UNDERGRADUATES' ENGLISH LEARNING STRATEGIES

This paper studies the reasons of the differences in students’learning outcomes. The research is based on the theory oflearner differences and second language learning, and the "GoodLanguage Learner" studies. It approaches the interrelationbetween learning skills and learning outcomes. Through adetailed investigation and discussion, this paper aims to presentwhat the students really want to get from their English teacher,and the general characteristics of successful language learnersand unsuccessful language learners, and to serve as a guide forEnglish learners, especially for unsuccessful learners. Twoexperiments were carried out in the research. One was CollegeEnglish Test Band 4, CET 4, which indicates the differences inlearning outcomes of students who were taught by the sameEnglish teacher. The other was a questionnaire to investigatelearners’ differences in learning skills and learning habits. Theresults gained from the two experiments prove that there existsignificant interrelation between learning skills and learningoutcomes. The thesis is beneficial to both English teachers andEnglish learners.

COLLEGE ENGLISH AND ITS LEARNING STRATEGIES

This paper is a questionnaire survey on learning strategies used by Chinese non-English majors including good language learners and less successful learners. It is based on English Band Four examination scores and final examination scores of 80 university students. The objective of this study is to find out whether the two groups of students used the same or different learning strategies.
