The new curriculum standard points out that affection is one of the most important goals of fundamental education. The non-target language environment is easier to cause the affective change of middle school students who are changeable in their affective state. Based on the affective filter hypothesis, this paper deals with the adjustment to affective factors in English learning by using Internet English Curriculum Resource, such as attitude and motivation, anxiety and inhibition, self-esteem and self-confidence. Reform of College English Curriculum Setup for Non-English Majors: A Case Study of an Ordinary University in China

English learning and teaching has been a hot research topic in China since the coming of the 21 st century. By way of questionnaire surveys and interviews, the research group takes one ordinary Chinese university as a... English learning and teaching has been a hot research topic in China since the coming of the 21 st century. By way of questionnaire surveys and interviews, the research group takes one ordinary Chinese university as a case to study the reform of College English curriculum setup. The paper focuses on study of extended courses, which are the most typical reflections of the reform in this university. In the first stage, 4,330 students are surveyed or interviewed in the pre-research process and another 1,270 participants from Grades 2013 and 2014 in the second stage fmish the questionnaire about the reform. The paper analyses the results of 1,215 valid questionnaires. The analyses and discussions in the research include four aspects, which are participants' overall attitudes towards the reform of College English curriculum setup, current situation of course teaching and assessment, degree of satisfaction with the extended courses and participants' feedbacks and suggestions. In the end of the study the existing problems in the reform are listed and suggestions are given to further reform the College English curriculum. 展开更多

The paper examines how language ideology in English education affects its curriculum development. By exploring the topic from an autoethnographic perspective, the researcher describes how his transnational learning and teaching experience informed his perception of language ideological changes in English curriculum development. The researcher's lived experiences from China to the United States witness how English curriculum develops in an ideological continuum from functional ideology to critical ideology, with cultural ideology and progressive ideology existing between the two extremes. The author then concluded: While language ideology has evolved from stage to stage, due to effects of factors like student acceptance and political ideology, English curriculum in China is still dominated by functional ideology. The paper finally proposes how English language curriculum development should go at the current stage of internationalization. 展开更多

Interviews are made with 10 middle school English teachers in Guangdong to seek their opinions and discover the implementation of the 2003 new English curriculum. It was agreed that there are many improvements, including the proposal of learning strategies and emotions, and attitudes to learning English. However, few actual measures are carried out in implementation. Lack of support from school, parents and students proves to be a headache for teachers. The problems that hinder Chinese secondary ELT are hence pointed out: the traditional teaching methods, examination means, constraints, teacher quality and lack of support. "College English Curriculum Requirements", edited by Department of Higher Education(2007), put forward clearly one of the key points of the national College English teaching reform was to strengthen the application of computer to college English teaching and apply computer-and-classroom-based English teaching mode, improving the previous mode dominated by a single teacher. Most colleges and universities in China have basically achieved the popularity of computer multimedia classrooms and campus networks. However, according to researches(Xia, 2002), most teachers still hold the main role of them in classes as"language interpreter"and"language instructor". Although advanced computer technology has been provided, most teachers feel confused or difficult in using it to assist their English teaching efficiently. As a consequence, computer technology fail to play its role in English classes. Driven by the great development of science and technology, computer has brought about incredible changes in every aspect of social life since 1980 s. In current times, almost every aspect of college students' life has been closely associated with computer. However, in most situations, computer is not taken as a typical language learning tool in their daily life. It is known that most students' English basis is relatively weak in vocational colleges; meanwhile, the way in which they learned English during the middle school period was basically translation- based teaching. Thus they have little or even no interest in English learning at all. In this way, discovering a new and interesting way with the aid of computer to learn English is of essential importance. Based on this, the paper discusses five major aspects under the circumstance of computer-assisted English learning. It is hoped that vocational college English teaching and learning can become more efficient by means of computer technology, finally students' English learning motivation and English competence can be enhanced to a great extent. 展开更多

New requirements in English teaching were brought up under vocational curriculum reform in Zhejiang province.The work presented in this paper mainly focus on three aspects of the following: Teaching methods in class,the students' knowledge background and learning motivation.Methods used in this investigation are known as questionnaires as well as interview.Total182 students from two Vocational Schools in Hangzhou city were surveyed in random manner,aiming at the students' knowledge background,learning motivation and teachers' teaching methods.Interview was used as supplementary information.It's in order to get an entire grasp of the present situation of English teaching Methods in secondary vocational schools and to find out an effective way to solve the problems.After that,as a result of the Investigation indicates that problems still exist in secondary vocational schools.Suggestions are to put forward some effective strategies and approaches that will improve English teaching quality in secondary vocational schools; what is more,according to students' choices and interests,situational teaching and layered teaching could be implemented in order to improve students' English ability. 展开更多

以高校英语课程思政教学为研究对象,通过文献分析、需求调研及专家咨询等方法,构建了基于柯氏模型四个核心层级的高校英语课程思政效果评价体系。该体系涵盖9个一级指标和25个二级指标,以全面评估思政教学的效果。采用层次分析法(AHP)... 以高校英语课程思政教学为研究对象,通过文献分析、需求调研及专家咨询等方法,构建了基于柯氏模型四个核心层级的高校英语课程思政效果评价体系。该体系涵盖9个一级指标和25个二级指标,以全面评估思政教学的效果。采用层次分析法(AHP)对各级指标进行赋权,确定各指标的权重。研究结果显示,课程的整体评价、学生的课外行为、课程目标的达成情况以及对思政内容的理解与应用等要素,在所有评价指标中占据较大权重。同时,提出教学目标思政化、教学内容文化化、教学方法多元化以及教学评价全面化等教学建议,旨在提高大学英语思政教学质量,为其他领域的思政教学评价提供重要参考。 展开更多
