A Study on Effective Methods of English Vocabulary Learning

English is a key subject in high school that troubles many students,especially in the aspect of vocabulary learning.Only by laying a good vocabulary foundation can students better complete the learning tasks such as reading,writing,listening,and speaking training.This paper aims to explain the importance of improving the efficiency of English vocabulary learning and discuss the effective methods of English vocabulary learning in high school,in order to help more students find their own learning methods,improve vocabulary memory and application skills,and lay a solid foundation for follow-up learning,examination,and even work.

Research into the Application of Cooperative Learning to English Reading Teaching of Art Majors in Independent Colleges

This paper first stated some related theories of cooperative learning and English reading teaching.And then an applicationof cooperative learning in English reading teaching of art majors in independent college is implemented based on these literature re-views.The aim of the experiment is to explore the impact of the application of cooperative learning strategies.It mainly discussedthe following questions:(1)Can the group cooperative learning improve students'reading achievement?(2)What factors contributeto the success/failure of cooperative learning?(3)What are the favorite cooperative learning models in reading classes?The experi-ment proved that cooperative learning does not truly improve art students’reading achievement in independent college,but it real-ly has a positive role in promoting the students'learning interest,motivation and emotional attitude.The experiment also indicatesthat cooperative learning is still a valuable teaching strategy for applying,and GI,LT,TGT and other cooperative learning modelare welcomed by classmates.

An Analysis of the Research Trends in Blended Learning Methods in Teaching College English Reading Courses

Curtis J.Bonk defined blended learning as a combination of face-to-face and computer-assisted online learning instruction since it was gradually formed after the emergence of the Internet[1,2].Breen pointed out that blended learning is a learning method that combines online and offline learning activities and resources[3].The blended learning approach is popular in school and e-learning.Moreover,it is one of the important trends in promoting higher education reform in the coming years.Therefore,it has attracted the attention of international researchers[4].In this paper,42 articles in Scopus(established by international institutions)and 30 articles in CNKI(found by Chinese mainland institutions)on the query of“college English reading blended learning”in the field of education were analyzed.Furthermore,CiteSpace software was used to analyze the research hotspots and trends with the keyword clusters and citations that occurred in the last two decades(1999 to 2022)to foresee future research prospects.

In this era of information explosion, reading has become one of the most important basic skills to obtain the information. With the globalization of information and business, people pay more and more attention to English reading. English reading, as one of the four skills of language learning, plays an important role in the English learning. The Application of English New spaper Reading in English Learning and Its Problems

Reading is the basic way for learners to study English,to obtain various information as well as knowledge,and to improve the proficiency of understanding and expressing.English newspaper reading,owing to its own characteristics,will make up for the shortcomings of conventional textbooks at quite a high level.The primary goal of this research is to investigate the general situation of English newspaper reading among college students,their attitudes toward the teaching of English newspaper reading and their problems in reading newspapers by conducting a questionnaire among non-English majors.Finally,it suggests a reasonable method of English newspaper learning based on the problems this questionnaire indicates.

Implementing Cooperative Learning in Intensive Reading Course for Chinese Learners of English

Studies on Cooperative Learning （CL） have demonstrated advantages and effectiveness of employing strategies of CL on English as a Second Language （ESL）. This report presents the processes of CL implemented in two English intensive reading courses at a Chinese university. The purpose is to arouse the students＇ awareness of working in groups in their English reading classroom and to enhance their reading comprehension at tertiary level. The results show that students can adapt to small group work when they realize the benefits brought to them. Although positive effectiveness of CL is prevalent at any levels in educational contexts, benefits of CL on ESL are not deeply cultivated as expected, particularly for Chinese learners of English and some problems can also be found in implementing CL. As the emphasis of curriculum of English Language Teaching （ELT） in China has been on developing students＇ competence in communication in English, it is necessary for teachers to adopt CL in classroom instructions rather than teacher-centered approaches.
