An Investigation of Avoidance of Relative Clauses in the English Writings of High Vocational College Students

This study investigates the avoidance of relative clauses by high vocational college students and also explores the differences in the avoidance of the RCs by high-level students and low-level students in their English writings. The data used in this study have been collected from English writing tasks and analyzed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences(SPSS17.0). The major findings of this study are stated as follows: 1) There are significant differences in the production of the relative clauses in their English writings by Chinese higher vocational college students and English native speakers. Avoidance of relative clauses exists in the English writings of higher vocational college students. 2) High-level Chinese higher vocational college students display less of the avoidance phenomenon in their English writings than low-level students. 展开更多

The previous studies show that the major problems faced by the students in writing can be classified into two categories, that is, they don't know"what to write"and"how to write". The researchers found that the specific problems existing in their writings are identified as poor content, incomplete generic structure and misuse of cohesive devices. Therefore, on the basis of the previous studies, this study attempts to use Martin's genre theory to resolve the existed problems of the Professional College English major's students in writing and enhance students' discourse writing ability. Meanwhile, this study tries to answer the following questions:(1) Compared with the traditional writing teaching methods, whether the genre-based writing method has a significant effect to improve students' writing skills;(2) Whether the genre-based writing method is possible to increase students' interest in writing. The experimental result and the questionnaire show that genre-based approach in ESL writing teaching really can improve students' writing achievement and enhance students' interest in English writing. 展开更多

English writing is the college students’synthetical application about the knowledge of English.English writing,however,is the weak segment of the college students'English learning all the time.Based on the researches home and abroad,the paper makes an implicational study on interlanguage fossilization in English writing of Chinese college students.Though probing the causes of fossilization in English writing,the paper proposes some measures to reduce the fossilization.In the chapter one,the paper introduces simply the interlanguage fossilization.In the chapter two,the paper analyzes college students English writing and get the causal factors of fossilization:unfavorite learning motivation of students,ineffective feedback to errors,interference of the mother tongue.Then,at the last chapter,the paper put up some measures to overcome and avoid the fossilization in college students'English writing:promoting students'motivation,providing right feedback,avoiding mother tongue interference. 展开更多

Research data was collected throu... The study investigated the relationship between English writing anxiety and English proficiency of Chinese college students. A total of 149 college students participated in the study. Research data was collected through a writing anxiety test and the final course scores of writing classes. In order to address assess writing anxiety, three factors(Negative perception about writing ability, Fear of evaluation, and Avoidance of writing in English) were examined. The results found that Chinese college students were highly apprehensive in the process of English writing, and the Negative perception about the writing ability was a most important and significant component of their writing anxiety. It also found that there was a significant correlation between the writing anxiety and the final English writing score, and it also provided evidence that self- perception about the writing ability had the strongest relationship with the writing performance. Students who are not interested in taking more advanced English writing classes were more anxiety than the participant who were willing to enroll the courses. 展开更多

Research in language learning strategies has addressed the necessity of improving oral skills in second language acquisition.This study attempts to explore the strategies employed by 19 medical students at Qiannan Medical College for Nationalities to improve their oral skills.Semi-structured interview and open-ended questionnaire were used as the instruments for the data collection.The data was then analyzed qualitatively for the purpose of the study.The findings of the study showed that the strategies employed by the students mainly include the strategies to improve speaking skills and the strategies to improve listening skills.The strategies to improve speaking skills include two main categories:fluency-focused strategies and accuracy-focused strategies.The strategies to improve listening skills also include two main categories:direct strategies and indirect strategies. 展开更多

Through investigation and research,this paper analyzes the needs and status quo of medical students’English learning,and makes a correlation analysis between them.This paper uses the strategy of questionnaire survey and take the actual medicalstudents in our country as the survey object,and uses two-dimensional model of Oxford and three-dimensional model of O’Malleyand Chamot statistical method to get the final conclusion.The results show that the high score group students show stronger internallearning motivation,the choice of cognitive strategies shows a strong sense of autonomy and responsibility,while the low score stu-dents mainly show external learning motivation,in the specific learning process,they rely more on mechanical imitation and ignorethe cultivation of creative thinking. 展开更多

目的结合国家执业医师考试及全国大学生医学技术技能大赛的考试要求,探讨基于能力导向临床实习轮转模式改革的应用效果。方法选取实习的2017级临床医学“5+3”一体化儿科及临床专业实习生各90名,随机分为试验组和对照组,每组90人。试验... 目的结合国家执业医师考试及全国大学生医学技术技能大赛的考试要求,探讨基于能力导向临床实习轮转模式改革的应用效果。方法选取实习的2017级临床医学“5+3”一体化儿科及临床专业实习生各90名,随机分为试验组和对照组,每组90人。试验组采用调整后实习轮转计划,对照组采用传统实习轮转计划,应用综合考评得分、个人综合能力、自我超越、职业抱负、教学满意度评分量表进行统计比较。结果试验组综合考评、个人综合能力、岗位胜任能力、自我超越、职业抱负、教学满意度明显高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论实习模式改革有助于提高医学生的整体素质,改善医学生的学习环境,激发医学生的临床学习兴趣和主动性,增强医学生的临床实践能力,提高医学生的满意度,同时提升国家执业医师考试通过率以及为全国大学生医学技术技能大赛培养优秀赛手,值得继续深入探索和推广应用。 展开更多

目的:基于建构主义,探讨新文科视域下同伴反馈在医学生大学英语写作教学中的应用与作用。方法:选取温州医科大学仁济学院2020级口腔1、2班(n=60)和精神麻醉班(n=56),分别作为实验组和对照组。教师分别实施同伴反馈和传统策略,采用实验... 目的:基于建构主义,探讨新文科视域下同伴反馈在医学生大学英语写作教学中的应用与作用。方法:选取温州医科大学仁济学院2020级口腔1、2班(n=60)和精神麻醉班(n=56),分别作为实验组和对照组。教师分别实施同伴反馈和传统策略,采用实验对照法,运用前后测量法评估学生写作主题“内容”、“组织结构”和“语言”三个维度的表现。对学生反思报告进行文本主题分析,对教师问卷进行数据和文本分析。结果:在实施同伴反馈后,实验组学生的后测写作成绩高于前测(t=4.882,P<0.001),也高于对照组后测成绩(t=3.432,P=0.001)。反思报告的主题分析表明学生逐步认可同伴反馈对其写作能力、语言技能以及医学人文素养的提升。问卷结果表明同伴反馈在提升学生语言技能、写作水平、人文素养及自主学习能力方面具有一定作用,问卷子维度的Pearson相关性分析结果表明同伴反馈有效实施影响因素之间具有相关性,即教师与环境(r=0.528,P=0.006)和评估策略(r=0.596,P=0.004)呈正相关,环境与评估策略呈正相关(r=0.712,P<0.001)。结论:同伴反馈对医学生的语言技能和医学人文素养有积极的中介作用,能促进医学生写作水平的提升。教师、环境与评估策略三因素对同伴反馈存在正向影响。 展开更多

“互联网+”混合式教学在医学生大学英语教学中的应用

目的 探究“互联网+”混合式教学在医学生大学英语教学中的应用价值。方法 选择2023年1—6月齐齐哈尔医学院2022级200名医学生作为研究对象,应用随机数表法将其分为对照组和研究组,各100名。对照组采取常规教学模式,研究组实施混合式教... 目的 探究“互联网+”混合式教学在医学生大学英语教学中的应用价值。方法 选择2023年1—6月齐齐哈尔医学院2022级200名医学生作为研究对象,应用随机数表法将其分为对照组和研究组,各100名。对照组采取常规教学模式,研究组实施混合式教学模式,通过决策导向型CIPP评估模型[背景评估(context evaluation)、输入评估(input evaluation)、过程评估(process evaluation)、成果评估(product evaluation)]。从满意度、学习主动性、考试成绩及综合能力4方面对整个教学过程进行评价。结果 研究组学生满意度为93.00%(93/100),高于对照组81.00%(81/100),差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。研究组主动参与课程学习、师生交流频率、充分利用网络媒介学习评分分别为(91.43±4.56)分、(88.72±4.68)分、(90.08±4.61)分,高于对照组的(84.28±5.11)分、(80.46±5.34)分、(82.45±5.26)分,差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。研究组考试成绩为(89.93±5.25)分,高于对照组的(81.86±5.83),差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。研究组人文素养、专业素养、创新能力、解决问题能力评分分别为(89.92±4.36)分、(90.35±4.21)分、(92.31±4.07)分、(90.48±4.59)分,高于对照组的(83.48±5.15)分、(84.83±5.09)分、(85.63±4.85)分、(83.33±5.25)分,差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。结论 在“互联网+”背景下的医学生大学英语教学中,混合式教学模式能有效激发学生的内在学习动机,提高学生的综合能力及教学质量。 展开更多
