Epidemiology,management,and economic evaluation of screening of gallstone disease among type 2 diabetics:A systematic review

The knowledge of gallstone disease(GSD) is crucial to manage this condition when organizing screening and preventive strategies and identifying the appropriated clinical therapies. Although cholecystectomy still be the gold standard treatment for patients with symptomatic GSD, expectant management could be viewed as a valid therapeutic method for this disorder. If early treatment of GSD decreases the morbidity or avoids further cholecystectomy, it may save clinical care costs in later disease periods sufficiently to offset the screening and early treatment costs. In addition, whether routine screening for GSD is worthwhile depends on whether patients are willing to pay the ultrasonography screening cost that would reduce the risk of cholecystectomy. In this review we discuss the epidemiology, management, and economic evaluation of screening of GSD among type 2 diabetics.

Standardization Framework of Marine Sustainable Development Evaluation System

The core concepts of standardization framework of marine sustainable development evaluation systemare fairness and justice and the aim of sustainable development is to pursue development beneficial bothfor the current and future generations.Scientific evaluation of sustainable marine development is importantfor ensuring an accurate level of marine development.Establishing a scientific evaluation system is of greatimportance in the planning of marine development.Standardization of such an evaluation system needs tobe based on comprehensive work and must be founded on both marine science and modern managementprinciples.This paper analyses the current marine standards situation and looks at the assessment systemfor marine sustainable development.It also lists the main reasons for the standardization of a sustainablemarine development evaluation system and analyses five existing marine standardization problems whichare a constraint to this standardization.Finally a framework of marine sustainable development evaluationsystem standardization is established.The conclusion incorporates some advice on how to promote thisstandardization.

Research on the Evaluation System of National Standardization

Standardization receives varied attention in different countries. Based on the Chinese national standardization status, this paper sets an evaluation system of national standardization on the principles of logic, comprehensiveness and operability, taking into account national standards and standardization activities. The evaluation system evaluates the national standardization development level through four aspects： standard development, standards implementation, standardization supporting measures, and participation in international standardization. This evaluation system provides a reasonable basis to evaluate the national standardization development level. The survey shows that if China wants to enhance its standardization development level, China needs to improve its standard development level, strengthen implication and application of standards, expand the standardization support measures and continuously improve the level of participation in international standardization.

Epidemiology and natural history of hepatitis C virus infection

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)affects 130-210 million people worldwide and is one of the major risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma.Globally,at least one third of hepatocellular carcinoma cases are attributed to HCV infection,and 350000 people died from HCV related diseases per year.There is a great geographical variation of HCV infection globally,with risk factors for the HCV infection differing in various countries.The progression of chronic hepatitis C to end-stage liver disease also varies in different study populations.A long-term follow-up cohort enrolling participants with asymptomatic HCV infection is essential for elucidating the natural history of HCV-caused hepatocellular carcinoma,and for exploring potential seromarkers that have high predictability for risk of hepatocellular carcinoma.However,prospective cohorts comprising individuals with HCV infection are still uncommon.The risk evaluation of viral load elevation and associated liver disease/cancer in HCV(REVEAL-HCV)study has followed a cohort of 1095 residents seropositive for antibodies against hepatitis C virus living in seven townships in Taiwan for more than fifteen years.Most of them have acquired HCV infection through iatrogenic transmission routes.As the participants in the REVEALHCV study rarely receive antiviral therapies,it provides a unique opportunity to study the natural history of chronic HCV infection.In this review,the prevalence,risk factors and natural history of HCV infection are comprehensively reviewed.The study cohort,data collection,and findings on liver disease progression of the REVEAL-HCV study are described.

High-Dimensional Spatial Standardization Algorithm for Diffusion Tensor Image Registration

Three high dimensional spatial standardization algorithms are used for diffusion tensor image(DTI)registration,and seven kinds of methods are used to evaluate their performances.Firstly,the template used in this paper was obtained by spatial transformation of 16 subjects by means of tensor-based standardization.Then,high dimensional standardization algorithms for diffusion tensor images,including fractional anisotropy(FA)based diffeomorphic registration algorithm,FA based elastic registration algorithm and tensor-based registration algorithm,were performed.Finally,7 kinds of evaluation methods,including normalized standard deviation,dyadic coherence,diffusion cross-correlation,overlap of eigenvalue-eigenvector pairs,Euclidean distance of diffusion tensor,and Euclidean distance of the deviatoric tensor and deviatoric of tensors,were used to qualitatively compare and summarize the above standardization algorithms.Experimental results revealed that the high-dimensional tensor-based standardization algorithms perform well and can maintain the consistency of anatomical structures.

Standardization and Quality control parameters of Kayam Churna

Kayam Churna is proprietary ayurvedic formulation which is blend of seven ingredients which are Senna leaves(Cassia angustifolia),Black Salt,Mulethi(Glycyrrhiza glabra),Nishoth(Operculina turpethum),Ajwain(Trachyspermum ammi),Haritaki(Terminalia chebula)and Svarjikshara(Sodium bicarbonate)with Senna as a major ingredient.Standardization and stability studies play a vital role for each herbal formulation,so the research was carried out to prepare the formulation in the laboratory and to standardize the Churna,by means of its physicochemical properties,phytochemical analysis and microbiology study.The organoleptic and powdered characteristics were studied and compared with monographs.Various physicochemical analysis was carried out like bulk density,tapped density,percent compressibility,loss on drying,ash value and heavy metal determination.Phytochemical analysis was carried out to find the presence of tannins,alkaloids,glycosides,flavonoids and steroids.Microbiological analysis was evaluated using the Total Viable Count method.HPTLC Chromatographic technique was used for fingerprinting.Microscopic analysis of Formulation showed the presence of Vessels,Fibre,Calcium oxalate crystals,etc.Tannins,Alkaloids,flavonoids were found to be present in the formulation.Microbial count and all physicochemical parameters were found to be within the limits as per the WHO guidelines.Further studies can be carried out for finding out its efficacy and potency.

Research on the Index System of Old Neighborhood Renovation Based on Green Building Evaluation Standard

With the advancement of the transformation,the contradiction between the residents’demand for a better living environment and the convenience of living in the settlements comes to the fore.Effective identification,organic integration,timely adoption,and correct decision-making for the transformation of old neighborhoods are pressing issues in the transformation of old neighborhoods.Therefore,this paper takes the green building evaluation standards of various countries as the research basis and support for the construction of the transformation strategy of old neighborhoods.Through the collection and comparative analysis of the indicators of green building evaluation standards,the index system of transformation is formed,and it also provides a certain foundation for the subsequent related research.

Evaluation Model of Carrying Capacity of Water Resources Based on Standardized Indices of Radial Basis Function

[Objective] The aim was to study on RBF model about evaluation on carrying capacity of water resources based on standardized indices. [Method] The indices were transformed and the averages of standard values in different levels were taken as the standardized values of components of central vectors for basic functions of RBF hidden nodes. Hence, the basic functions are suitable for most indices, simplifying expression and calculation of basic functions. [Result] RBF models concluded through Monkey-king Genetic Algorithm with weights optimization are used in evaluation on water carrying capacity in three districts in Changwu County in Shaanxi Province, which were in consistent with that through fuzzy evaluation. [Conclusion] RBF, simple and practical, is universal and popular.

Burden of diabetic foot ulcer in Nigeria: Current evidence from the multicenter evaluation of diabetic foot ulcer in Nigeria

BACKGROUND Nigeria bears the greatest burden of diabetes prevalence in Sub-Saharan Africa. Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a serious and potentially life-threatening complication of diabetes. Significant improvements in diabetic foot incidence and outcomes have been recorded in many Western countries in the past decade. However, the current burden of DFU in Nigeria is largely unknown. AIM To evaluate the patients’ profile, ulcer characteristics, associated co-morbidities and outcome of patients with DFU in Nigeria. METHODS Multicenter evaluation of diabetic foot ulcer in Nigeria was a one year multicenter observational study of patients hospitalized for DFU in six tertiary health institutions in Nigeria from March 2016 to March 2017. Demographic and diabetes information, ulcer characteristics and associated co-morbidities were assessed. Relevant laboratory and imaging studies were performed. All patients received appropriate multi-disciplinary care and were followed up until discharge or death. Outcome variables of interest were ulcer healing, lower extremity amputation (LEA), duration of hospitalization and mortality. RESULTS A total of 336 patients (55.1% male) with mean age of 55.9 ± 12.5 years were enrolled into this study. Majority (96.1%) had type 2 diabetes. Only 25.9% of the subjects had prior foot care knowledge. Most of the subjects presented late to the hospital and median (IQR) duration of ulcer at presentation was 39 (28-54) d. Ulcers were already advanced (Wagner grades ≥ 3) in 79.2% of the subjects while 76.8% of the ulcers were infected at the time of admission. The commonest comorbidities were systemic hypertension, anemia and hyperglycemic emergencies. One hundred and nineteen subjects (35.4%) suffered LEA while 10.4% left against medical advice. The median (IQR) duration of hospitalization was 52.0 (29-66) d with case fatality rate of 20.5%. CONCLUSION The burden of DFU in Nigeria is very high. The major gaps include low level of foot care knowledge among diabetic patients, overdependence on self-medication and unorthodox medicine following development of foot ulceration, late hospital presentation, and high amputation and mortality rates. Extensive foot care education within the framework of a multi-disciplinary foot care team is highly desirable.

Uncertainty Evaluation of Preparation of Organophosphorus Pesticide Mixed Standard Solution

The uncertainty of standard solution plays an important role in detection of pesticide residues. It may affect the accuracy of detection results. In this study, the 14 organophosphorus pesticides mixed standard solution was used as the material to analyze all the influencing factors for the preparation of mixed standard solution with uncertainty as the only judging index. The preparation uncertainty of mixed standard solution was calculated with the top-down calculation method. In the end, the expanded uncertainty was presented. The results showed that the preparation of mixed standard solution from stock solution with precise pipettes had a relatively low uncertainty.

Multilevel grey evaluation on the comprehensive contribution of standards to Shanghai automobile industry

Standard has played an important role in modern enterprises and society through the encouragement of technology innovation and distribution. Based on the survey of 30 typical enterprises in the field of automobile in Shanghai, this paper makes quantitative analysis on comprehensive contribution of standard to automobile industry and accomplishes the demonstration of standard comprehensive evaluation index system. The analysis shows that standardization makes obvious contribution to Shanghai automobile industry.

Study on Quantitative Evaluation of Rural Tourist Resources in Xichang City

Quantitative evaluation was conducted on rural tourist resources in Xichang City by national standard resources grading method and analytic hierarchy process. It was concluded that rural tourist resources in Xichang City were diversified in resources type and high in resources value and there were excellent rural tourist resources. The study provided a scientific and quantitative evaluation for reasonable development of rural tourism.

Construction of the standardized efficiency evaluation system for the opening and sharing of valuable instruments and equipment

In terms of the problem of the evaluation of the utilization efficiency of the opening and sharing of the expensive instruments and equipment in colleges and universities, combined with the Internet plus management mode of the whole process of the valuable instruments, based on the idea of ＂full opening and sharing＂, the author of this paper established the opening and sharing mechanisms of the instruments and equipment, to promote their effective allocation and improve their utilization efficiency. In this paper, the author carries out the thinking and discussion of the construction of a standardized evaluation system of the performance evaluation the valuable instruments and equipment.

Evaluation indices of sour flavor for apple fruit and grading standards

In order to establish grading standards of evaluation indices for sour flavor of apples, 10 indices of samples from 106 apple cultivars were tested, including： malic acid（Mal）, oxalic acid（Oxa）, citric acid（Cit）, lactic acid（Lac）, succinic acid（Suc）, fumaric acid（Fum）, total organic acids（To A, the sum of the six organic acids tested）, titratable acid（TiA）, acidity value（AcV）, and pH value. For most of the cultivars studied（85.8%）, the order of the organic acid contents in apples was Mal〉Oxa〉Cit〉Lac〉Suc〉Fum. Mal was the dominant organic acid, on average, accounting for 94.5% of To A. Among the 10 indices, the dispersion of pH value was the smallest with a coefficient of variation of only 8.2%, while the coefficients of variation of the other nine indices were larger, ranging between 31 and 66%. There were significant linear relationships between Mal and two indices（ToA and AcV） as well as between ToA and AcV. There were significant logarithmic relationships between pH value and four indices： Mal, TiA, ToA, and AcV. All the equations had very high fitting accuracy and can be used to accurately predict related indices. According to this study, Mal, ToA, and AcV of apple were normally distributed, TiA was close to normally distributed, whereas pH value had a skewed distribution. Using the fitted normal distribution curves, the grading standards of Mal, TiA, ToA, and AcV were established. The grading node values of pH value were obtained using the logarithmic relationship between pH value and Mal. The grading standards of these five indices can be used to evaluate the sour flavor of apple. This study provides a scientific basis for evaluating apple flavor and selecting apple cultivars.

Study and application of Toxicity Test Method Using Neomysis awatschensis in Toxicity Evaluation of Drilling Fluid

Neomysis awatschensis was collected on the west coast of Jiaozhou Bay, Qingdao in 1992 and acclimated in the laboratory conditions. The acute toxicity method using 4~ 6 day juvenile mysid of this species is studied. The species is compared with M. bahia in taxonomy, geographic distribution, morphology, as well as the sensitivity to reference toxins. Based on the results, we recommend N. awatschensis to be a standard marine organism for toxicity test in China and the method to be applied in toxicity evaluation of drilling fluids. In this paper, we report the results of the above studies and the application of the method in the evaluation of several drilling fluid products.

An Efficient Simulation Tool of Performance Evaluation for Communication Networks

We provide an efficient simulation tool for performance evaluation in communication networks. Not only the general simulation functions-which can be found in some old simulation tools, but also the perturbation function module via the Standard Clock (SC) approach-in which more than 2 perturbation simulation event paths can be constructed parallelly based on a single nominal simulation event path is included in this simulation software platform.

Firstly, the connotations and influencing factors of ecosystem health are discussed, and then the assessment principle, evaluation stand- ard and evaluation method of ecosystem health and the establishment and measurement of ecosystem health indicators are studied. Through the study of its connotation and evaluation, feasible measures to effectively promote the development of ecosystem health are put forward finally.

Evaluation of International Standards of Management of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) in Khorasan Razavi Hospitals from the Perspective of Managers

The general goal of the management of communication and information technology (MCIT) in the health sector, is to accelerate collecting, achieving and supporting the health system processes, and effective decision-making for managing this system;because preparing and providing health care services for society is very complex, and highly dependent on the information system. The aim of this investigation is to determine the mean scores of the possibility of implementing the MCIT standards in Khorasan Razavi hospitals, from the perspective of managers. This was a cross sectional descriptive-analytic study conducted in two steps in all hospitals. In the first step, the applicability of the standards in hospitals was studied. In the second step, the current status of hospitals was compared with international standards MCIT. In order to determine the validity of the questionnaires, opinions of professors and experts were acquired. Regarding the reliability, the SPSS V. 12 calculated the value of Cronbach’s to be 0.95 for the first questionnaire and 0.86 for the second questionnaire. Data were analyzed using statistic tests of one way ANOVA and t-test. The level of significance was fixed at 0.5. In the 16 hospitals studied, the mean and standard deviation of MCIT were (57.25 ± 13.74). The MCIT standards are applicable in hospitals of Khorasan Razavi according to half (49.4%) of managers;nonetheless, their application requires greater efforts by the hospitals.

Effectiveness of Cardiac Scintigraphy and Standard Eco-Cardiograph in the Detection and Evaluation of Cardiac Disorders, Including Ischemic Heart Diseases

Background: Cardiac disorders are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality globally. Aim: The current study aimed to compare the effectiveness of echocardiographic and scintigraphy investigation in cardiovascular disorders detection and evaluation, including ischemic heart disease (IHD) diagnosis at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia. Methods: 157 patients (male/ female: 68%/32%;mean age 64 ± 0.83 years) were included in the report in the current study. All subjects underwent gated myocardial perfusion scintigraphy and standard Echocardiography. Results: About 84% of cases were diagnosed with any types of cardiac disorders by Echocardiography, whereas through scintigraphy, 61% of patients were detected cardiac disorders. The age stratification did not impact the prevalence of cardiac disorders detected by them. Scintigraphy showed a higher detection rate (59%), while only 29% of cases were detected with IHD by eco-cardiograph. Conclusions: In conclusion, both techniques, namely standard Echocardiography, and myocardial scintigraphy, are useful in the evaluation and detection of cardiac disorders in patients having any type of cardiac problems. Both investigations showed a differential pattern in cardiac disorders diagnosis with a particular focus on IHD. Gender differences and age stratification also contributed to this differential pattern of diagnosis. Trial Registration: The research doesn’t include experiments in humans or animals. It is a retrospective study for data record review as an observational study, so no trial registration is required.
