The Expression of Euphemism in Business English

At present, the whole process of international trade must use a lot of euphemistic expressions, so the expression of euphemism is very important in business English. Of course, a good business English staff must recognize the importance of euphemism, only effectively master the method of euphemistic expressions, flexibly show the euphemism in the business negotiation,the two sides can conclude the transaction, promote cooperation and achieve win-win result. Therefore, this paper will analyze the communicative function of euphemism, then mainly discuss the expression of euphemism in business Negotiations.

Tentative Research on the Realization of Euphemisms in E-C/C-E Translation

As a cultural phenomenon,euphemism is categorized as a linguistic concept as well.Euphemism means speaking with good words or in a pleasant manner.The social functions of euphemism are:substitution of taboo words,strategic use of language,and expression of politeness,humor and satire.Besides,euphemism is closely associated with cooperative principle in pragmatics.

Analysis of Chinese Euphemism

Euphemism exists in all languages and cultures, Chinese is no exception. This article aims at analyzing Chinese euphemism both from its classification and its pragmatic function. Analysis shows that Chinese euphemism could be roughly classified into the following classes: euphemism avoiding taboo words; euphemism avoiding vulgarity; euphemism reducing or concealing disadvantages and euphemism showing one's respect. Most of the Chinese euphemisms function at the expense of any maxim or maxims of the CP principle, while almost all of the euphemisms work in conformity with the PP principle.

Cognitive Study of English Death Euphemism Based on the Conceptual Integration Theory
