Mozambique Ports in the 16th Century： Trade Routes, Changes, and Knowledge in the Indian Ocean Under Portuguese Rule

Arriving to the east African coast in the 16th century, Portuguese faced an important and well-structured commercial network dominated by Muslim merchants. Operating throughout the Indian Ocean and in articulation with the inland African trade routes by way of the coastal settlements from Bazaruto up to the north of Mozambique, this network bustled luxury goods and basic goods benefiting either from a network of inter-personal relationships and kinship that supported the whole business, or from an ancestral knowledge on the techniques and particular procedures indispensable to navigating in the Indian Ocean. This trade made the prosperity of small southern ports, like Sofala or Mozambique long before the Portuguese arrival. However, this trade was so much dependent on the network＇s capacity of organisation and the supply demand relation of the goods involved, as well as on other factors such as the political stability of the African kingdoms, the environmental changes that shaped flows and trade routes or the actual knowledge of the region and of the different forms of organization of local communities. By focusing in the ports of Sofala and Mozambique and the information provided by the Portuguese documents we intend to analyse its evolution during the 16th century in order to understand its role in the Indian Ocean commercial network under Portuguese rule.

SWOT Analysis and Countermeasures Study on TCM Industry in Hainan Free Trade Port

Objective To study the status of the Hainan’s traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)industry and propose countermeasures to promote the construction of Hainan’s modern TCM industry against the background of Hainan Free Trade Port construction,thus transforming the TCM industry into a modern TCM industry.Methods Sociology method and SWOT model in strategic management were used to analyze the current situation of the Hainan TCM industry.Results and Conclusion By using sociological methods(field investigation,policy research,and exchange interviews)and adopting the SWOT model in strategic management,and the current situation of the Hainan TCM industry was clarified,such as strength and weakness,opportunities and threat,thus nine suggestions were put forward for the construction of Hainan modern TCM industry.

Exploring Hainan Cultural Confidence in the Framework of Hainan Free Trade Port Development

The construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port(FTP)has created significant and unprecedented opportunities for the development of Hainan’s economic,social,and cultural spheres.While the FTP initiative primarily aims to enhance Hainan’s global economic connectivity,it inevitably influences local culture,raising questions about how Hainanese culture can preserve and even strengthen its distinct identity amid rapid globalization.This paper explores the development of cultural confidence among Hainanese people within the evolving globalized framework of the FTP.Drawing on recent studies and qualitative analysis,the research highlights the foundational elements of cultural identity,historical traditions,and Hainan’s unique regional values that shape cultural confidence in this transforming society.Findings reveal that fostering cultural confidence in Hainan not only strengthens local social cohesion but also enriches the international profile of the FTP.Finally,recommendations are proposed for policies,educational programs,and community engagement initiatives to further integrate cultural confidence into the FTP framework,providing a model for culturally sensitive development in other regions in China and beyond.

THE OPEN PORT SYSTEM IN NORTHEAST CHINA

In China with the implement of the strategy of overall opening up to the outside world,northeast China has basically formed an open pattern with simultineous development of border opening and coast opening. As a national window to open up to the outside world, an open port system in northeast region has formed. These ports can be classified from different angles, such as management level, transport mode, location. From management level, they can be classified into the state firstclass ports and the second-class ports. According to transpost mode, they can be divided into railway port, highway port, water transport port, air transport port and special mode port, and based on location, they can be divided into border port, coast port and inland port. The oaper introduces in detail the foreign trade connection of 4 most representative state first-class border ports: Hunchun, Suifenhe, Heihe and Manzhouli. The open ports Of northeast coast regin mean mainly coast water transport ports in Liaodong Peninsula. The foreign trade connection of coast open ports: Dandong, Jinzhou,Yingkou and Dalian is expounded. And the paper also analyses the transport connection of ports of northeast region with their hinterlands.

Manzhouli is the largest land port city on the Sino-Russia border,transit cargo through the land port amount -ed to 5.95million tons,transit tour ists were 304500in 2000.It stands at the joint place of China,Mongolia an d Russi-a,faces to Siberia area of Russia,re ceives direct support from the North east China and Bohai Sea Rim Area,and possess-es priorities in geographical location,land port infrastructure,wate r resources,coal resources,touris t resources and great potentiality in economic coop eration with Russia.The future urban function is a key port on the First Eurasia Continen-tal Bridge.Manzhouli Port will keep its first place between China and Russia land transport,and it is forecasted that the transit amount through Manzhouli Port will go up to 10million tons in 2005and 20million tons in 2010.It will be construct-ed to be a trade center of the peripheral area extending to Russia and Mongolia,a key export-oriented processing industri-al zone supported by industries such as export processing industries,export agriculture,trade services,t echnology trad-ing and the other service industries.It keeps being a well-known touring city for trade,shopping,sightseeing,vocation,local food,recreation and cultural events.To build Manzhouli Export Pr ocessing Industry Zone will improve city econom-ic structure,and the main sectors are organic food processing,livestock products processing,garment and f urniture indus-try.Moreover,Manzhouli Export Pro cessing Industry Zone will eventually be upgraded to be a border free trad e zone.The city functional transition will inevitably affect urban spatial restructure and its expansion.The city space transforma-tion will develop as such:one develo pment axis of No.301highway paralle ling with Bin -Zhou(Harbin -Manzhouli)rail-way which cuts through central part o f Manzhouli City,and links Zhalainuoer District with central city;thre e urban units including central city,Zhalainuoer District and Manzhouli Interchange Trade Zone;cohesion with Aoerjin a nd Cuogang pastures;regional dual-nuclei str ucture of Hailaer City and Manhzouli City;and the Manzhouli-Zabaykalsk Free Trade Zone.

加快口岸由“通道经济”转型为“产业经济”,是“一带一路”建设高质量发展的重要内容。基于高质量发展目标要求,对口岸经济高质量发展的内涵、特征进行学理性探讨,依托层次分析思想构建测度口岸经济高质量发展水平的评价指标体系。以边境口岸数量多、类型丰富的云南省为研究对象,选取2012—2021年数据,运用CRITIC权重法,对云南口岸经济高质量发展水平进行测度并分析其趋势特征。研究发现:样本期内云南口岸经济高质量发展水平总体呈现上升趋势,口岸经济协调发展和开放发展提升显著,创新发展有待加强,共享作用显现,绿色发展不平稳,岸城协调性不足。推动云南口岸经济高质量发展要转变发展理念,扩大高水平对外开放,建立岸岸、岸城协调发展机制,完善口岸基础设施,加强口岸开放发展能力,以此推进云南口岸现代化建设进程。

In recent years,the establishment and continuous promotion of the Hainan Free Trade Port has made its strategic position increasingly prominent.In order to cope with the opportunities and challenges brought by the free trade port,the demand for high-quality practitioners in Hainan Free Trade Port is imminent.As a highly open free trade port in the world,Singapore has promoted the rapid improvement of national strength by promoting the international development of vocational education,which provides important enlightenment for the research on the development path of the internationalization of vocational education in Hainan Free Trade Port.This study uses case analysis and comparative analysis to analyze the successful experience of the internationalization of vocational education in Singapore,clarify the current situation and shortcomings of Hainan Free Trade Port in the internationalization of vocational education,and suggest feasible development paths from four aspects:institutional environment,teaching system,teachers,and cooperation mode.

海南自贸港建设中公务员执行力影响因素实证研究

当前,海南自由贸易港正处于封关运作的关键阶段,海南公务员的执行力水平很大程度决定了海南自由贸易港建设的成效。从公务员个人视角出发,依托史密斯政策执行过程模型进行实证研究后发现,不同职级、工龄的海南公务员在执行力上差异显著,政策目标设定水平、个人基本心理需求满足程度和组织公正感与公务员执行力显著相关,目标设定的明确性维度、基本心理需求的胜任需求和关系需求维度、组织公正的领导公正维度对公务员执行力具有显著的预测力。在实证结果的基础上,提出了进一步提高海南公务员执行力的对策。
