As a fundamental logistics service,the express delivery(ED)industry provides production and consumption activities to maintain efficient supply chain operations.It plays an important role in promoting industrial devel...As a fundamental logistics service,the express delivery(ED)industry provides production and consumption activities to maintain efficient supply chain operations.It plays an important role in promoting industrial development and maintaining daily life and consumption.This study examined the effects of COVID-19 on the ED industry using ED package delivery data from 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities)in China.Using a difference-in-differences method,the COVID-19 outbreak was found to have a positive effect and epidemic prevention and control(EPC)policies were found to have negative effects on the development of the ED industry.In addition to EPC policies,the Chinese government has implemented other short-term economic interventions(SEI),such as the resumption of work and production(RWP),policies to balance economic growth,and epidemic prevention.This study divided the pandemic period into three stages to analyze the different impacts of EPC and SEI policy changes on the ED industry.The RWP policies adopted during the pandemic positively impacted the volume and income of packages delivered to the ED industry.The conclusions of this study are significant for the ED industry in addressing public health emergencies and for the Chinese government to formulate EPC and SEI policies during epidemic periods.展开更多

The basic reason is that the business-related supporting data, which is scattered in the multidimensional space, is difficult to utilize and process. This paper proposes an automatic data acquisition fi-amework to resolve such difficulty, which synthetically utilize intelligent inemet of things (IoT), semantic web and complext event processing (CEP) technology. We also implement a SCEP prototype system with the capability of real-time detecting complex business events on the goods sorting line, which adopts a detection method consisting of four stages. The simulation results show that the system has good performance and feasible enough to deal with the complex business which need data support fTom multidimensional space.展开更多
In a context where express delivery service is indispensable in urban production and life in China,urban express joint distribution will help reduce the negative impact of logistics activities on urban traffic and env...In a context where express delivery service is indispensable in urban production and life in China,urban express joint distribution will help reduce the negative impact of logistics activities on urban traffic and environment,and eventually promote the coordinated development of the express delivery industry and the city.This paper summarizes the background of urban express joint distribution based on its four driving forces:saving resources,green development,traffic avoidance,and public service.Then it establishes a network structure model of urban express joint distribution based on systems thinking,elaborates the functional orientations of the four layers in the model–the distribution layer,the feeder transport layer,the terminal station layer,and the collection and delivery layer,and discusses the implementation ideas of joint distribution at all layers.Finally,it puts forward four suggestions for promoting the joint distribution:improving inter-departmental coordination mechanism,maintaining a diversified distribution pattern,promoting in-depth cooperation among companies,and practicing a high-tech development path.展开更多
