Purpose: To test the concept of Statistical Process Control (SPC) as a Quality Assurance (QA) procedure for dose verifications in external beam radiation therapy in conventional and 3D Conformal Radiotherapy (3D-CRT) ...Purpose: To test the concept of Statistical Process Control (SPC) as a Quality Assurance (QA) procedure for dose verifications in external beam radiation therapy in conventional and 3D Conformal Radiotherapy (3D-CRT) treatment of cervical cancer. Materials and Methods: A study of QA verification of target doses of 198 cervical cancer patients undergoing External Beam Radiotherapy (EBRT) treatments at two different cancer treatment centers in Kenya was conducted. The target doses were determined from measured entrance doses by the diode in vivo dosimetry. Process Behavior Charts (PBC) developed by SPC were applied for setting Action Thresholds (AT) on the target doses. The AT set was then proposed as QA limits for acceptance or rejection of verified target doses overtime of the EBRT process. Result and Discussion: Target doses for the 198 patients were calculated and SPC applied to test whether the action limits set by the Process Behavior Charts could be applied as QA for verified doses in EBRT. Results for the two sub-groups of n = 3 and n = 4 that were tested produced action thresholds which are within clinical dose specifications for both conventional AP/PA and 3D-CRT EBRT treatment techniques for cervical cancer. Conclusion: Action thresholds set by SPC were within the clinical dose specification of ±5% uncertainty for both conventional AP/PA and 3D-CRT EBRT treatment techniques for cervical cancer. [Methods] A retrospective analysis was made on the EQA of humoral morphology by Guangxi Clinical Laboratory Center from 2010 to 2022, and the number of participating laboratories, the rate of return, sample types and maps of EQA of humoral morphology such as urine sediment, vaginal secretions and so on(except feces), and the reasons for the high error rate of the results of the participating laboratories were analyzed. [Results] The number of laboratories participating in the assessment of humoral morphology increased from 98 in 2010 to 371 in 2022. Except for 2011(90.98%), the rate of return was more than 94%, and the highest rate of return was up to 100%. A total of 119 pictures of EQA of humoral morphology were studied, including 101 urine sediment smears, 13 vaginal secretions smears and 5 other smears. The types of specimens were relatively comprehensive. The distribution of the maps was basically reasonable. The urinary sediment was mainly composed of crystalline salts, followed by tubes, and cells and fungi ranked third. The coverage was relatively complete. The error rate of return results from high to low were bacteria(error rate was equal to 40%), tubes and crystalline salts(error rate was close to 29%), and cells and fungi(error rate was about 14%). The main cases with high error rate of return results are as follows: the difference between different tubes was not clear, and the diversity of crystal morphology was not understood enough;the phase division of cells in the same system was wrong. [Conclusions] The analysis and summary of the reasons for the high error rate of the data and results of Guangxi's EQA of humoral morphology is helpful for laboratory physicians to improve their awareness of morphological examination and identify clearly the error type and blurred concept, and lays a foundation for Guangxi Clinical Laboratory Center to carry out EQA of humoral morphology more specifically.展开更多
Accurate quantification of external force is the key to improve the high-precision hemming of autobody closure panels.However,the mechanism of external force on forming quality of complex contour sheet metal with adhe...Accurate quantification of external force is the key to improve the high-precision hemming of autobody closure panels.However,the mechanism of external force on forming quality of complex contour sheet metal with adhesive is not clear subjected to geometric curvature and materials.In the present study,taking the curved edge aluminum sheet as the research object,SPH(smooth particle hydrodynamics)is introduced to simulate the viscous adhesive,and the SPH-FEM(Finite element method)coupling model of adhesive and panels considering the viscosity-pressure effect is established.The numerical simulation of the roller hemming process is carried out,then the validity and reliability of the proposed method are verified by measuring the external force in real time using triaxial force sensor.The multi-step forming process and the effect of external force on the roll in/out,surface wave and plastic strain of aluminum alloy sheet under the viscosity-pressure effect are studied,and the relationship between process parameters and external force is discussed.Results show that the coupling SPH-FEM model can well reflect the hemming process of curved edge structure.The normal force is about 2–3 times of the tangential force in the pre and final hemming process.Compared with the case without adhesive,the surface wave of flange part of the hemming with adhesive is slightly larger.The normal force and the tangential force increase about 90 N and 30 N respectively,when the height increases by 1 mm.It provides an important basis for the accurate control of hemming trajectory and the improvement of manufacturing quality of autobody closure panels.展开更多

External loads were estimated in the tributaries (Pintados and Ibirit6 cre...This study aimed to evaluate the external and internal fluxes of nutrients of an urban eutrophic reservoir (lbirit6 reservoir, SE-Brazil). External loads were estimated in the tributaries (Pintados and Ibirit6 creeks) through nutrient concentrations and discharge measurements. Using Fick's law, internal loads were estimated in the reservoir from fluxes across sediment-water interface from nutrient concentration gradients between the pore water and the water. The Ibirit6 creek (urban sewage recipient) contributes with 72%-47% of ammonium (NH4^+) and 100%-8% of SRP (soluble reactive phosphorus) of the total quantity entering the reservoir, whereas the Pintados creek (oil refinery effluent recipient) contributions are 20%-19% and 44%-100%, respectively. Despite the high external loads (130 and 2.2 ton-yr^-1 of NH4+ and SRP, respectively), internal loads (average flux of 120 and 2 mg·cm^-2yr^-1, respectively) correspond to 25% of the total external loads which may sustain a high productivity in the reservoir for a long time even if the external loads are controlled. The stocks of ammonium and SRP of the interstitial water (100 cm of sediment) would be released to the water in six years and five months, respectively, The release time would be extremely larger (〉 3,000 years) considering the stocks of total N and bioavailable P.展开更多
Objective:To evaluate the adjuvant treatment of acute stage symptoms and quality of life of patients with bullous pemphigoid(BP)with ozone.Methods:We included 74 patients with moderate and severe BP hospitalized from ...Objective:To evaluate the adjuvant treatment of acute stage symptoms and quality of life of patients with bullous pemphigoid(BP)with ozone.Methods:We included 74 patients with moderate and severe BP hospitalized from July 2018 to December 2020.The participants were randomly divided into the control group and the ozone group,with 37 patients in each group(n=37).The control group used tap water to wash the whole body,and mupirocin ointment was used for the erosions.The ozone group used ozone water to wash the whole body,and the erosion place was coated with ozone oil.The bullous pemphigoid disease area index(BPDAI)score of BP disease was used to observe the clinical symptoms and skin lesions of the two groups before and on day 3,7,and 14 after treatment.Pruritus and sleep were observed before and on day 3,7,and 14 after treatment.The Dermatology Life Quality Index(DLQI)was used to observe the quality of life before and after treatment and the adverse reactions were recorded.Results:The total BPDAI score and erythema score in the ozone group were significantly different from those in the control group on day 3,7,and 14 after treatment(P<0.050).The scab drying time and erosion drying time of ozone group were shorter than that of control group(P<0.001).There were statistically significant differences between the ozone group and the control group in pruritus score and sleep score on day 3,7,and 14 after treatment(P<0.001).There was statistically significant difference in skin disease quality of life between the two groups 14 days after treatment(P<0.001).No significant adverse reactions and complications were observed in both groups.Conclusions:Ozone external use can rapidly improve the acute stage of edema erythema,erosion,and itching of BP,improve the quality of life of patients,is an effective treatment method,and wor thy of clinical promotion.展开更多

This approach gives a way to many organizations to question the extent to which the quality...The quality endeavors of an organization, like other enterprise activities, must be oriented towards the economic principles. This approach gives a way to many organizations to question the extent to which the quality management contributes for the overall business success and to pin point the areas where particularly a high value or performance can be created in order to attain the maximum possible economic benefits out of quality management systems. Without including the answer of this question in the decision making process, the resources can not be allocated optimally for the quality purpose. Quality management activities create variety of effects that indirectly contributes towards the economic success and thus increase the company and stakeholder value. A closer look at the quality management philosophy reveals eight major principles namely: customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach to management, continual improvement, factual approach to decision making, mutually beneficial supplier relationships. These eight principles lead the efforts in the domain of quality management to project a positive impact on the company. For an understanding of response relationships, it is necessary to consider in detail the indicators along the response relationships. They provide helpful clues and give an insight into the complex mechanisms of action of the quality approaches on the path to the company's success. The following illustration depicts how the quality based activities generate the value to enhance the performance and a variety of indicators reflects how they indirectly add value to an organization and hence contribute to its economic success.展开更多
