Research on the Development Strategy of Panxi Sunshine Health and Wellness Homestays and Hotels Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Preservation

This study is the first phase of research results from the student innovation project“Yunqiao Sunshine Health and Wellness Homestay”group at Chengdu Normal University.By analyzing the current state of the Sunshine Health and Wellness Tourism Area economy in the Panxi region of Sichuan,local policies,and the current state of Sunshine Health and Wellness homestays and hotels,this paper proposes the possibility of developing Sunshine Health and Wellness homestays and hotels through traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)health preservation methods.It also proposes development strategies for such hotels through a market survey SWOT analysis.

Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Disease among Hotel Workers, Bohicon, Benin

Introduction: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are on the increase in several sectors of activity. The aim of the study was to determine the frequencies of cardiovascular risk factors (CVRF) and factors associated with hypertension among hotel workers in the city of Bohicon. Methods: This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study conducted in the period from December 2018 to January 2019. The variables studied were sociodemographic, occupational, anthropometric and behavioral. Participant recruitment was exhaustive. A standardized questionnaire inspired by the STEPS-WHO questionnaire was used for data collection. After the descriptive analysis, a bivariate analysis was performed using Pearson’s Chi-square test or Fisher’s test at the 5% threshold. Results: A total of 101 workers, 53 (52.47%) of them male, participated in the study. The mean age was 30.60 ± 8.20 years, with extremes of 18 and 55 years. The frequencies of the main risk factors were: 68.32% sitting position > 6 hours/day;38.61% shift work;21.78% high psychological demand, 82.18% low decision latitude, 24.75% low social support, 21.78% occupational stress;7 (6.93%) harmful alcohol consumption;6.93% tobacco consumption;48.51% insufficient physical activity;98.02% insufficient fruit and vegetable consumption;59.41% overweight;14.85% HTA. Factors associated with hypertension were: sex, age and marital status. Conclusion: Occupational factors need to be taken into account when assessing CVRFs. NCD control programs are needed in all sectors of activity. A larger study is needed in the hotel sector.

Dynamic Update Scheme of Spectrum Information Based on Spectrum Opportunity Incentive in the Database-Assisted Dynamic Spectrum Management

To solve the problem of delayed update of spectrum information(SI) in the database assisted dynamic spectrum management(DB-DSM), this paper studies a novel dynamic update scheme of SI in DB-DSM. Firstly, a dynamic update mechanism of SI based on spectrum opportunity incentive is established, in which spectrum users are encouraged to actively assist the database to update SI in real time. Secondly, the information update contribution(IUC) of spectrum opportunity is defined to describe the cost of accessing spectrum opportunity for heterogeneous spectrum users, and the profit of SI update obtained by the database from spectrum allocation. The process that the database determines the IUC of spectrum opportunity and spectrum user selects spectrum opportunity is mapped to a Hotelling model. Thirdly, the process of determining the IUC of spectrum opportunities is further modelled as a Stackelberg game by establishing multiple virtual spectrum resource providers(VSRPs) in the database. It is proved that there is a Nash Equilibrium in the game of determining the IUC of spectrum opportunities by VSRPs. Finally, an algorithm of determining the IUC based on a genetic algorithm is designed to achieve the optimal IUC. The-oretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed method can quickly find the optimal solution of the IUC, and ensure that the spectrum resource provider can obtain the optimal profit of SI update.

Network Intrusion Traffic Detection Based on Feature Extraction

With the increasing dimensionality of network traffic,extracting effective traffic features and improving the identification accuracy of different intrusion traffic have become critical in intrusion detection systems(IDS).However,both unsupervised and semisupervised anomalous traffic detection methods suffer from the drawback of ignoring potential correlations between features,resulting in an analysis that is not an optimal set.Therefore,in order to extract more representative traffic features as well as to improve the accuracy of traffic identification,this paper proposes a feature dimensionality reduction method combining principal component analysis and Hotelling’s T^(2) and a multilayer convolutional bidirectional long short-term memory(MSC_BiLSTM)classifier model for network traffic intrusion detection.This method reduces the parameters and redundancy of the model by feature extraction and extracts the dependent features between the data by a bidirectional long short-term memory(BiLSTM)network,which fully considers the influence between the before and after features.The network traffic is first characteristically downscaled by principal component analysis(PCA),and then the downscaled principal components are used as input to Hotelling’s T^(2) to compare the differences between groups.For datasets with outliers,Hotelling’s T^(2) can help identify the groups where the outliers are located and quantitatively measure the extent of the outliers.Finally,a multilayer convolutional neural network and a BiLSTM network are used to extract the spatial and temporal features of network traffic data.The empirical consequences exhibit that the suggested approach in this manuscript attains superior outcomes in precision,recall and F1-score juxtaposed with the prevailing techniques.The results show that the intrusion detection accuracy,precision,and F1-score of the proposed MSC_BiLSTM model for the CIC-IDS 2017 dataset are 98.71%,95.97%,and 90.22%.

Strategic Planning Practices of Hotels in Kenya

This study broadens perspectives of strategic planning procedures in hotels by analyzing hotel managers’perspectives on hotel strategy formulation and planning.The study was a descriptive quantitative study that targeted managers from various Kenyan hotels.180 questionnaires were returned from a sample of 280 hotel managers who had attended management development programs at a hospitality school.The primary goal of the study was to analyze two aspects of the strategic planning process:strategy formulation and strategic planning.The findings revealed that hotels in Kenya have developed methods and are keen on scanning their external environments.However,with the product offerings being so comparable,competitive analysis played an important role in the context.Creating a unique or specialty offering was not a popular option for most hotels.Cost-cutting was the most favored strategic inclination to achieve desired results.The balanced scorecard was underutilized in the sector.While managers were involved in the strategic planning process,other lower cadre employees were not,they were provided with the targets for the hotels’organizational goals to be achieved.The findings reveal that with similar products and services,the industry creates a hostile business climate with fierce rivalry and must invest in the most obvious alternative of cost reduction to survive.Alternative product innovation is not common in this industry for developing a differentiation approach that allows a property to control a market.

Assessment of the Implementation of Energy Conservation Opportunities Arising from Energy Audits;A Study of Four-Star and Five-Star Hotels in Nairobi Kenya

This study assesses the implementation of energy conservation opportunities in four-star and five-star hotels in Nairobi. The Covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the Hospitality Industry. Currently, there is a growing inclination to furnish guests with superior and sustainable services in an energy-efficient and eco-friendly way. Comprehensive research was conducted from energy audits gathered from the establishments and contracted auditing companies, on top of this, hotel staff were given digital questionnaires. To add to the data, the researcher surveyed the hotels with engineering managers. The Energy Audits found that all 10 hotels had adopted Energy Conservation Opportunities (ECOs). After further analysis, the mean adoption rate of Energy Conservation Opportunities (ECOs) during the past three years was 55.83%, which was below the aim of 100%. According to studies, hotel staff manages energy to cut costs. The researcher found that hotels use up a lot of energy. However, they have conservation potential, depending on government policies, costs, ease of implementation, and management commitment to sustainable practices. Essentially, Energy Conservation Opportunities (ECOs) reduce energy expenditures and boost reliable revenues, especially during high energy prices and uncertainty.

基于Hotelling T2-BiLSTM的同步调相机故障诊断方法

同步调相机故障会严重影响特高压直流输电工程的稳定性。针对特高压电网中不对称电压条件下同步调相机励磁绕组匝间短路故障难以识别问题,提出基于霍特林T2-双向长短期记忆网络(Hotelling T2-BiLSTM)的同步调相机故障诊断方法。首先,从三相电压、三相电流、励磁电流、转子振动和无功功率中提取故障特征,计算Hotelling T2统计量以构建故障检测指标;然后,采用BiLSTM模型对特征进行分类,并利用逻辑回归层进行故障诊断;最后,在动模实验室中进行实验验证其有效性。实验结果表明,所提方法具有较高的故障诊断精度。

Research on the Development of Green Hotels in the Context of Low Carbon Tourism

With the continuous implementation of national measures related to carbon neutrality strategy,the concept of a low-carbon economy has been deeply rooted in people’s hearts.Low-carbon tourism has gradually become an inevitable trend,and the tourism industry is also undergoing orderly transformation and upgrading.To promote the sustainable development of the tourism industry,the tourism and hotel industry should also shift towards a low-carbon and green model.Hotel activities can easily bring related environmental issues,such as energy consumption,garbage generation,ecological pollution,etc.Therefore,building a green hotel will bring huge social and economic benefits to the low-carbon tourism industry.This article will address the above issues and take a low-carbon economy as the starting point,proposing sustainable development strategies and suggestions for green hotels from both the internal and external environment of the hotel,creating a low-carbon management atmosphere,and promoting the low-carbon operation of the green hotel industry.

The Logic and Innovative Practice of Hotel Management Talent Training in the New Era

In the context of the new era,people’s material living standards have improved and the public’s demand for spiritual life experience is more vigorous,the hotel industry has also ushered in the development of the peak period,and the demand for high-quality hotel management professionals is increasing.The cultivation of hotel management professionals needs to adapt to the transformation and upgrading of the hotel industry.Based on the study of the development status and new challenges faced by hotel management education in the new era,this article explores the logic and innovative practice of cultivating hotel management professionals from the aspects of strengthening the construction of hotel management disciplines,constructing new models of talent cultivation,reforming educational concepts,and reshaping the teaching content system.It aims to provide guidelines for the cultivation of hotel management professionals in Chinese universities.

An Ensemble-Based Hotel Reviews System Using Naive Bayes Classifier

The task of classifying opinions conveyed in any form of text online is referred to as sentiment analysis.The emergence of social media usage and its spread has given room for sentiment analysis in our daily lives.Social media applications and websites have become the foremost spring of data recycled for reviews for sentimentality in various fields.Various subject matter can be encountered on social media platforms,such as movie product reviews,consumer opinions,and testimonies,among others,which can be used for sentiment analysis.The rapid uncovering of these web contents contains divergence of many benefits like profit-making,which is one of the most vital of them all.According to a recent study,81%of consumers conduct online research prior to making a purchase.But the reviews available online are too huge and numerous for human brains to process and analyze.Hence,machine learning classifiers are one of the prominent tools used to classify sentiment in order to get valuable information for use in companies like hotels,game companies,and so on.Understanding the sentiments of people towards different commodities helps to improve the services for contextual promotions,referral systems,and market research.Therefore,this study proposes a sentiment-based framework detection to enable the rapid uncovering of opinionated contents of hotel reviews.A Naive Bayes classifier was used to process and analyze the dataset for the detection of the polarity of the words.The dataset from Datafiniti’s Business Database obtained from Kaggle was used for the experiments in this study.The performance evaluation of the model shows a test accuracy of 96.08%,an F1-score of 96.00%,a precision of 96.00%,and a recall of 96.00%.The results were compared with state-of-the-art classifiers and showed a promising performance andmuch better in terms of performancemetrics.

The Effects of Job Insecurity, Emotional Exhaustion, and Met Expectations on Hotel Employees’ Pro-Environmental Behaviors: Test of a Serial Mediation Model

There are a plethora of empirical pieces about employees’pro-environmental behaviors.However,the extant literature has either ignored or not fully examined various factors(e.g.,negative or positive non-green workplace factors)that might affect employees’pro-environmental behaviors.Realizing these voids,the present paper proposes and tests a serial mediation model that examines the interrelationships of job insecurity,emotional exhaustion,met expectations,and proactive pro-environmental behavior.We used data gathered from hotel customer-contact employees with a time lag of one week and their direct supervisors in China.After presenting support for the psychometric properties of the measures via confirmatory analysis in LISREL 8.30,the abovementioned linkages were gauged using the PROCESS plug-in for statistical package for social sciences.The findings delineated support for the hypothesized associations.Specifically,emotional exhaustion and met expectations partly mediated the effect of job insecurity on proactive pro-environmental behavior.More importantly,emotional exhaustion and met expectations serially mediated the influence of job insecurity on proactive pro-environmental behavior.These findings have important theoretical implications as well as significant implications for diminishing job insecurity,managing emotional exhaustion,increasing met expectations,and enhancing ecofriendly behaviors.

Mediation Effect of Employee Training on Implementation of Hotel Environmental Management Practices for Hotel Business Sustainability in Tanzania

The study assessed the mediation effect of employee training on implementation of hotel management practices for hotel business sustainability in Tanzania.Study was conducted in two cities Arusha and Dar es Salaam whereby a structured questionnaire with Likert scale range from one to five was used to collect information from the sample of 400 hotels’managers.The findings of the hypothesis indicate that two hypotheses were significant at significant at p<0.001 and one was not significant.The first hypothesis found that environmental management practice has positive effect on business sustainability highly significant at p<0.001.The second hypothesis was that there was positive relationship between environmental management practices and employee training at highly significant of p<0.001 and was accepted.Third hypothesis was that employee training has no mediation effect on the hotel business sustainability whereby p>0.05 hence rejected.It was also found the direct effect was significance at p<0.01 while indirect effect was not significance at p>0.05 and total effect was significance at p<0.01.It was concluded that,employees’training does not mediate the implementation of hotel environmental management practices for sustainability of hotel business in Tanzania.

Research on Digital Practical Training Teaching Under the Background of“Internet+”:Taking the“Front Office Service”Course as an Example

This article aims to explore the application of digitalization in practical training teaching under the background of“Internet+”by taking the teaching of“Front Office Service”in the hotel management and digital operation major as an example.By using digital teaching methods,tools,and practical training methods,this study analyzes the impact of digital practical training teaching on students’mastery of front office service skills as well as explores the ways to implement digital practical training teaching.The research results show that digital practical training teaching can effectively improve students’learning effects and comprehensive quality,and simultaneously has positive significance for cultivating comprehensive hotel management talents that adapt to the needs of the“Internet+”era.

Development or Environmental Jeopardy: The Carbon Footprint of Hotels in Juba South Sudan

Climate change and global warming have been identified as major threats to the development of South Sudan due to greenhouse gases (GHGs) emission responsible for the rising temperatures and erosion of existing ecosystem services that support local livelihoods. Mitigating GHGs emissions has become an urgent global policy trajectory with countries acceding to related Treaties and setting national targets. Despite having submitted its initial communications to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), outlining specific sectors for GHGs reduction, the rapidly growing hotel industry has not been identified among the sectors and no GHGs emission reporting has been undertaken. Therefore, this study aimed to assess, quantify and report on the GHGs emission potential of the hotel industry in Juba-South Sudan, examine existing GHGs emission reporting mechanisms and propose a reporting framework. Using a standard quantitative methodology, the carbon footprint of twenty-seven hotels was assessed. The results showed that the hotel industry is one of the leading emitters of GHGs emission amounting to 14,624.9-ton CO2eq/year. The study also found no existing GHGs reporting systems in South Sudan and proposed a reporting framework and identified potential emissions reduction strategies for the hotel industry to deal with climate change and carbon emission issues of the hospitality industry. It recommends that further research be initiated to 1) assess the applicability of the identified strategies in the context of South Sudan and 2) to quantify GHGs emissions from cooling appliance within the hospitality industry as well as emissions from other growing sectors like the transportation.

Research on Meteorological Disaster Risk of Hotels in the Dabie Mountain Scenic Area

Using meteorological data of Anhui Meteorological Bureau,based on the multi-level fuzzy comprehensive analysis method,this paper preliminarily explores the main types and various influencing factors of regional meteorological disasters related to hotel buildings in the Dabie Mountain Scenic Area,and puts forward suggestions on how to deal with the risk of meteorological disasters in the scenic area,in order to provide a better understanding of the Dabie Mountains.It provides a theoretical basis for better response to meteorological disaster decision-making in the development of the scenic spot,and also hopes to provide reference for other Dabie Mountain scenic spots in Hubei and Henan.The research results show that the main types of meteorological disasters faced by hotel buildings in the Dabie Mountain Scenic Area are:rainstorm,thunder and lightning,heavy fog,and snow disaster.The occurrence frequency of various disasters is higher than that of the plains,and the intensity is higher.Due to the high altitude of the hotel buildings,the soil resistivity has obvious mutation or stratification.The terrain surrounded by mountains on three sides often becomes a good conductor of lightning,and the risk of lightning strikes is high,and the lighting weather is frequent.The Dabie Mountain Scenic Area is prone to heavy fog,frost,snow disaster and other weather due to its high altitude,high air humidity and low temperature.Hotels in the Dabie Mountain Scenic Area should effectively deal with meteorological disasters and reduce losses by formulating disaster prevention plans,strengthening lightning protection engineering measures for hotel buildings,and regularly testing and maintaining the lightning protection devices installed in hotels.

Food Waste Management in Luxury Hotels-Best Practices and Limitations

Hospitality industry and hotels are considered to waste a lot of food.This research aims to focus on food waste management in luxury hotels by investigating three luxury hotels in Budapest(Hungary).The investigation focuses on qualitative methods,eleven interviews and observations were made from September to December 2018.Results show that in luxury hotels the main challenge is to ensure the correct balance between 5*experience and minimizing food waste.It was found that kitchen,breakfast open-buffet and staff canteen are among the leading causes of food waste,generating even higher food waste compared to conferences,banquets,orála carte options.While a broad range of practices exist that are believed to minimize the food waste of buffets,most of the luxury hotels are only implementing a small ratio of such practices and are only in the beginning of the planning phase to expand their practices in this regard.

Exploring the Importance of Service Quality Attributes for Millennials at Boutique Budget Hotels

Millennials have a high spending power toward travel and therefore,the boutique budget hotel sector has been rapidly developing to attract this target market.However,there is not much information on what Millennials find important in service quality at these hotels,due to which it is pertinent for hoteliers to research and understand their behavior to cater to them accordingly.Therefore,this research investigates which service quality attributes Millennials find the most important in boutique budget hotels.This exploratory study reviews past literature and issuing questionnaire surveys for Millennials.This study explores the service quality dimensions within boutique budget hotels and how the dimensions further influence customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.The results obtained from the exploratory factor analysis revealed five dimensions of service quality,namely,hotel experience,staff experience,device experience,visual appeal perception,and wireless connection.Multiple regression analysis was also applied and showed that these five dimensions had a statistically significant positive influence on customer satisfaction and customer loyal.

Job Satisfaction of Hospitality Employees of the Department of Tourism Accredited Hotels in Baguio City

A high level of job satisfaction among workers in the hospitality industry improves the level of satisfaction among its guests.This study determined the level of job satisfaction of employees according to the identified factors which are perceived essential and will increase the employee’s level of performance.The study was composed of 219 rank and file employees.The study made use of a descriptive method to answer the research objectives.The findings showed that the employees of the DOT accredited hotels in Baguio City are very satisfied.The level of job satisfaction of Generation X and Millennials were both satisfied.However,younger employees are less satisfied with their jobs than older employees.Job satisfaction of hospitality employees according to gender showed that male employees were more satisfied than female employees.The significant differences in job satisfaction of males and females are their values,goals,and workplace expectations.Job satisfaction of hospitality employees varies according to their highest educational attainment.The findings showed that the higher the level of educational attainment among hospitality employees,the higher their satisfaction level.The employees believed that salaries and wages remain the most dominant factor in increasing their job satisfaction level.
