Although the daily data need separate analysis, those ...A research study collected intensive longitudinal data from cancer patients on a daily basis as well as non-intensive longitudinal survey data on a monthly basis. Although the daily data need separate analysis, those data can also be utilized to generate predictors of monthly outcomes. Alternatives for generating daily data predictors of monthly outcomes are addressed in this work. Analyses are reported of depression measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire 8 as the monthly survey outcome. Daily measures include numbers of opioid medications taken, numbers of pain flares, least pain levels, and worst pain levels. Predictors are averages of recent non-missing values for each daily measure recorded on or prior to survey dates for depression values. Weights for recent non-missing values are based on days between measurement of a recent value and a survey date. Five alternative averages are considered: averages with unit weights, averages with reciprocal weights, weighted averages with reciprocal weights, averages with exponential weights, and weighted averages with exponential weights. Adaptive regression methods based on likelihood cross-validation (LCV) scores are used to generate fractional polynomial models for possible nonlinear dependence of depression on each average. For all four daily measures, the best LCV score over averages of all types is generated using the average of recent non-missing values with reciprocal weights. Generated models are nonlinear and monotonic. Results indicate that an appropriate choice would be to assume three recent non-missing values and use the average with reciprocal weights of the first three recent non-missing values.展开更多

The constitutive model used in this study...Effective stress analysis is performed to evaluate the residual displacement of a caisson quaywall during 1994 Hokkaido- Toho- Oki Earthquake and 1993 Kushiro- Oki Earthquake. The constitutive model used in this study is a multiple shear mechanism type defined in strain space and can take into account the effect of rotation of principal stress axis. The earthquake accelerations recorded at the outcropping rock during the earthquake are used as input bedrock motion. The results of finite element analysis are in good agreement with the observed behaviour of the quaywall. The analysis also indicates that liquefaction and high excess porewater pressure have a significant effect on the deformation of the caisson. Soil improvement is speculated as the most reliable measures against liquefaction. The influence of soil improvement and the reasonable improved area are discussed in the paper.展开更多
A gear fault detection analysis method based on Fractional Wavelet Transform(FRWT)and Back Propagation Neural Network(BPNN)is proposed.Taking the changing order as the variable,the optimal order of gear vibration sign...A gear fault detection analysis method based on Fractional Wavelet Transform(FRWT)and Back Propagation Neural Network(BPNN)is proposed.Taking the changing order as the variable,the optimal order of gear vibration signals is determined by discrete fractional Fourier transform.Under the optimal order,the fractional wavelet transform is applied to eliminate noise from gear vibration signals.In this way,useful components of vibration signals can be successfully separated from background noise.Then,a set of feature vectors obtained by calculating the characteristic parameters for the de-noised signals are used to characterize the gear vibration features.Finally,the feature vectors are divided into two groups,including training samples and testing samples,which are input into the BPNN for learning and classification.Experimental results showed that this gear fault detection analysis method could well maintain the useful signal components related to gear faults and effectively extract the weak fault feature.The accuracy rate reached 96.67%in the identification of the type of gear fault.展开更多
Utilizing standard microelectrode stimulation and recording techniques, the electrophysiologic effects of the new antiarrhythmic agent sotalol were studied in Purkinje′s fibers obtained from six nascent mongrel canin...Utilizing standard microelectrode stimulation and recording techniques, the electrophysiologic effects of the new antiarrhythmic agent sotalol were studied in Purkinje′s fibers obtained from six nascent mongrel canines (ages 5~15 days) and were compared to changes observed in the adult canine Purkinje′s fibers (n=6). A dose dependent lengthening of the faction potential duration (APD) was observed in the nascent group and the overall increase in APD was significantly greater than that observed in the adult group. Sotalol also produced dose dependent changes in the effective refractory. period (ERP) in both groups though the overall increase in ERP in the nascent group was again greater. We conclude that the immature canine heart appears to be quite sensitive to the class Ⅲactions of sotalol, with changes in APD and ERP being comparable if not greater in magnitude than that observed in the adult.展开更多

The IR (infrared) spectra of initial and irradiated samples of tar fractions of bituminous oil are compared. The kinetics of radiation chemical yields of gas products at the irradiation of bituminous oil and its tar fraction have been investigated. Irradiation is conducted in the gamma-ray source of isotope 60Co at the dose rate of P = 0.27 Gy/s and absorbed doses D = 5-163 kGy. It is found that in comparison with oil faction, tar fraction of bituminous oil has a high resistance to radiation.展开更多

In this study Karaj aquiferous zone in Alborz province was surveyed from the view point of form, the agglomeration of drainage net length of channel and space. The orientation of hillside was specified as the affective factor on creating and streaming the flowage. A flow aggregating hydrological model for the studied zone was prepared and amount of the flow is mostly in which parts of the zone the delay and centralization time in the zone was evaluated and the related diagrams were derived. Finally, the zone was divided into 4 main subzones and their drainage nets were ranked and by 4 factors namely, space, length of canal, drainage aggregation and branch ratio affecting on performance of the zone from the view of from and appearance was surveyed. The factors interfering in SPSS software and their correlations were specified and specific coefficients stand in their related charts. By considering in the zone width and charts it is specified which of the sub zones has the most flowage potential from the view of the zones physical and numeral qualifications. All plots were prepared using GIS and WMS software and the studied zone’s hydrograph was depicted.展开更多

The tip clearance induces the tip leakage vortex(TLV),which has a great impact on the pressure fluctuation characteristics of the multiphase pump.To investigate the effect of the tip clearance on the pressure fluctuat...The tip clearance induces the tip leakage vortex(TLV),which has a great impact on the pressure fluctuation characteristics of the multiphase pump.To investigate the effect of the tip clearance on the pressure fluctuations,based on the Reynolds time-averaged Navier-Stokes equation and the shear stress transfer(SST)k-ωturbulence model,the three-dimensional turbulent flow in the pump is numerically simulated for different tip clearances in the water and gas-liquid two-phase cases by using the ANSYS CFX software and the results are verified with experimental data.It is shown the greater pressure fluctuation intensity corresponds with the TLV both in the water and gas-liquid two-phase cases.In the meantime,the location of the maximum pressure fluctuation intensity is related to the tip clearance size.In addition,for different tip clearances,the pressure fluctuation intensity with the rotor and stator interaction(RSI)is relatively larger.The difference is that when R_(tc)=1.5 mm,the pressure fluctuation intensity near the impeller middle point is also relatively larger.On the whole,the pressure fluctuation intensity in the gas-liquid two-phase case is larger than that in the water case.Furthermore,the gas causes the frequency of the high-amplitude pressure fluctuation in the impeller and the diffuser to be shifted from 7 f_(n)(f_(n) denotes impeller rotational frequency)and 3 f_(n) to the low-frequency region,respectively.The pressure fluctuations at the blade-passing frequency(BPF)and the multiple BPFs gradually disappear.Meanwhile,the amplitude at the dominant frequency in the gas-liquid two-phase case is at least one order of magnitude smaller than that in the water case,and the peak-to-peak value of the pressure fluctuation is also much smaller.展开更多

Focusing on a Northern Song (960-1127) ritual debate over the placement of imperial ancestors' spirit tablets and ancestral chambers, especially that of the Primal Ancestor, this study aims to contribute to a better understanding of discussions on ancestral rituals and how they were intensified during the implementation of Wang Anshi's New Policies. The Islamic Movement of Sudan established the first Islamist regime in the Sunni Islamic world by a military coup.By seising state power,the Islamic Movement tried to overhaul the political system of Sudan.However,wha...The Islamic Movement of Sudan established the first Islamist regime in the Sunni Islamic world by a military coup.By seising state power,the Islamic Movement tried to overhaul the political system of Sudan.However,what it brought to the politics of Sudan was far from what its leader Hasan al-Turabi envisioned.It was largely due to the failure of the Islamic Movement to institutionalise its control over state power,originating from its design to conceal the nature of the coup which prevented it from claiming the official leadership of the state.The military Islamists leading the coup continued to run the state publicly.The institutions of the Islamic Movement itself were weakened in the process,making it more difficult to lay the national politics on an institutional foundation.The division and conflicts among the Islamists could not be solved in an institutional framework,leading to the split of the Islamic Movement.The Islamists were further fragmented after the split,both within and without the regime,opening the gate for factional politics.展开更多
